A list of puns related to "Dorothy Zbornak"
I'm just curious. I've been binge-watching Golden Girls since Christmas & the show takes a lot of digs at her looks, but I think she's beautiful... kinda elegant.
Betty/Rose is obviously adorable, but Rue/Blanche is just "meh" for me :P They obviously all have different looks & different kinds of faces, but still...
Am I alone?
For me:
TO FEED THE CAT ROSE

Before beef or Bea 4 be Forbes?
Tart, sassy, refreshing, won't raise your blood sugar⦠make this immediately, add an almond crust, and eat it wearing a damn caftan on a lanai somewhere.

vs
John Kramer aka Jigsaw.
The trap is as follows:
All wake up inside a sealed room.
Their sin: Lacking a heart.
The trap: They wake up in a room that will slowly begin to flood with sulfuric acid in 22 minutes.
There's an escape door, but only one person can go out at a time.
After the second to last person leaves, the door slams shut and the room floods, killing the last person left inside.
The secret means of escape is shoving your arm into one of the acid vents and pulling out a key to the escape hatch before it dissolves in about three minutes.
Also if they all hold hands they could walk out the door without it closing on anyone, but they'd all have to hold hands.
So can they figure it out? Who's first to go? Who's last?
What is your favorite moment or insult involving Dorothy?
This isn't so much a theory as a childhood misconception.
I grew up in the late 80's and early 90's, and my mom was a huge fan of the Golden Girls. As a little nugget, I often watched it with her. Even today I love to watch that show; like Roseanne, it has aged well and is generally sharp and lol funny.
Anyway, I was around 3 years old when I first became acquainted with Golden Girls and its main protagonist, Dorothy Zbornak nee Petrillo. This commanding figure dominated my first fan theory.
Due to her height, stature, deep voice, and demanding eyebrows, I was certain that she was a man. However, because the Dorothy character is in fact not male, the characters never discuss the fact that she is a man.
This did not deter me. The fact that they never talked about Dorothy's secret manhood in fact became a point of pride for me and bolstered my suspicions. I reasoned that I was extremely clever to have figured out such a clearly adult-oriented subplot that was so unspoken. I felt as though I was ahead of my years and quite perceptive. I figured out something that was never ever discussed on the show, look at me! Self-satisfied, indeed.
Well of course they never discussed that she was a man! I was reading into it waaay too hard, and it wasn't til I was around 15 that I was like wait, what? What was I thinking?
Looking back, I can obviously realize that Bea Arthur was clearly a woman, and even fetching in her own way. I was just a stupid child. This is not my way of making fun of or condescending to crossdressers or transpeople or less effeminate women or just women with deep voices. It was an innocent and ignorant childhood assumption based on gender roles.
