I love me some Doga Kobo and in the last fours season they were killing it. They didn't produce any show that I would consider below average or even average. But allas, some are better then others, so I thought it would be fun to rank them all!
The shows I am specifically talking about are:
- Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru! (Uza Maid) [Fall 2018]
- Anima Yell [Fall 2018]
- Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me [Winter 2019]
- The Helpful Fox Senko-san [Spring 2019]
- How Heavy Are The Dumbells You Lift? [Summer 2019]
Rank them from worst to best and I would love to know your reasons for your rankings.
Well, here is my ranking:
Number 5: Anima Yell
Man does it hurt to put this on the fifth spot. I love the uplifting tone this anime has and this anime also has probably the best soundtrack out of all the contenders. Kohane is also such an adorable sweetheart. But the reason why I am putting this on the last spot is because despite being really cute it is not that different then your usual CGDCT and the humor is pretty crap. But other then that, a very fun anime.
Number 4: The Helpful Fox Senko-san
I finally finished it today and what a comfy time it was. Most of Doga Kobo shows are very cheerful and energetic CGDCT's, but this anime is suprisingly relaxing. Senko herself is someone I want to hug so hard and everything else makes me just feel at ease. Other then that it has nothing really much going for it besides your usual Slice of Life anime but the comfiness this anime creates is enough for me to recommend to everyone.
Number 3: Wataten!: An Angel Flew Down to Me
The first episodes of this anime plain suck. These episodes were creepy and not fun. But quickly after those episodes the anime genuinely surprised me of how good it was. Not only is it SO DAMN CUTE ^seriously ^it ^is ^the ^cutest ^show ^of ^the ^year , but it also surprised me with how well written it was, how funny it was and how stupidly much care was put into the weirdest places. That episode twelve man. I didn't expect Doga Kobo to flex its muscles like. So overal, great anime, just a shame of those first few episodes.
Number 2: Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru!
It was the funniest show of 2018. Period. A lot of people were turned of by the creepy pedophillic themes, but I was able to stomach it and boy am I glad that I did. This anime has some of the best comedic timing I have seen in the anime landscape yet a
... keep reading on reddit β‘from detailed backgrounds to colorful art direction to maybe having one or two scenes where the animation is oddly smooth then the rest of the episode. I would say its almost to madhouse or bones quality but they probaly don't have the big budget that those studios have.
I know it's very early on to be asking this and, given that the manga took 18 years to complete I doubt this will be a 1 season affair (unless there's only that many chapters, I honestly don't know the chapter count).
I don't know what it is about this show. At first, it was probably just Haru but week after week, everything about this anime has just worked for me. The animation isn't anything extravagant, yet it's so beautiful. The characters are great and I just love it. It's one of those shows where I can't really explain why I love it, I just do.
it's just that a majority of their shows look suprising better then it needs to be. I mean they're not Madhouse or Kyoani levels of animation. But jeez seems like they put a lot more effort into their shows then some animes out there as far as character animation, and art direction goes.
And thanks to that i really got into moe animes (if done well). plus others that aren't done by Doga Kobo like Dragon Maid and Machikado Mazoku
amazing how they went from crappy studio making visual novel based anime to moe anime with good animation.
