Last summer's update exceeded the number of concurrent users.

So about once I day I seem to have this issue where the internet stops responding on all devices. ethernet, wifi, everything.

I check my router, Asus ac3100 and it says "status: disconnected"

every time its able to refresh it has another 10 of these.

its running on my synology server in docker, and it doesnt seem cpu limited.

once I disconnect the wan cable everything usually comes back.

but this is a total PITA. I have used all these devices and router for 3 years with no issues, but over xmas I moved to a new AX router. didnt find it was any better so I went back to my AC3100 but ended up having to set it up again. but really it seems like as soon as those warnings start is when the internet goes down and when release the WAN connection either physically or renew the lease, it comes back and the warnings stop, and pihole becomes active again.

Ive seen a couple of devices that havent been reset since this all happened be rate limited in the logs, but I cant seem to understand how all day I have no issues, then suddenly its maximum concurrent connections and pihole basically shuts down.

The weird problem is looking through the debug there is just a ton of these warnings, but I cant really tell from anywhere WHICH device is asking for all these. I have seen spikes in the query log, but its basically all of my devices. the main driver seems to be my laptop but that makes sense as its my main device with a lot of tabs and stuff open, but its never done this before switching the router debacle.

Im just so tired of my network not working, and so wish I had left it alone, I just want these drops to stop. any advice on what to look for / to do?

im thinking about flipping the breaker to hard reset all the devices, as I have ~40 wifi plugs/switches. the last 2 devices that were 'rate limited' were a tplink plugs but I have never had an issue with them in the past 3 years ive had this same setup here.

EDIT: I took the pihole out of the equation and set it up as the DNS server for only my computers, everything else was left to Fios DNS. yesterday 1.1.1.1 went down and took

Please read the post below the lines first as I wanted the second part of this to be on top so return people could see results quickly.  I wanted to post the outcome of my second conversation, and the choices I made due to the thoughts and opinions shared on this thread.  
 Firstly,  my co-worker was surprised I came back and asked to finish our conversation.  I told him exactly what I had done and asked him to read thru the comments here.  He did so for about 45 minutes while I waited and ordered us lunch.  He quietly ate lunch and we didn’t speak a word as he read.  He then slid my iPad to the side and stared out of the window for about 5 minutes.  

I was stunned at what came next, he turned to me and very quietly said, “every life is precious it’s true, but at some point a person decides if the lives of the one he loves are more important than what people believe of them. I did not mean to be disrespectful in my response to you about a persons life, but I won’t pretend I know what is in another persons mind. I have a hard enough time reconciling the good samaritan and the family protector in myself daily.” I was shocked. It seemed to me that he had thought long and hard about this over the course of events in his life, but had made decisions to be the man on the outside that he could live with on the inside. He asked me one question as I sat there, “do you believe it is right to knowing hurt another in any way, to improve your own situation?” I answered him honestly and said no. He said “neither do I, but the people coming into your house do believe it, and that’s what scares the hell out of me, and it’s why I won’t take that chance.” After reflecting on his words and the opinions shared here, I bought a gun that as well as a biometric safe. I have not unlocked it since getting it, and do not plan to until I finish the training courses I signed up for (other than for those classes). Even after being trained to use one in the past it seems different now. This is not a post to say what is right and wrong for any one person. Each of us has not only the freedom to choose, but should be aware that with that choice should come the recognition that we should be held responsible for the consequences of our actions. Read a stunning series by Tal Lavin (that everyone on this sub should also read), exploring the unique relationship to corporal punishment that evangelicals have (yes, you will see a lot of familiar names in this piece).

CW: There are descriptions of child abuse throughout the entire piece. I will spoiler bar any quotes below that involve this type of content.

Tal talks about some evangelical history, and has many, many quotes from survivors of this kind of abuse, and also covers the the ex-evangelical community a bit.

In particular what stood out to me in this series was the connection survivors made between corporal punishment and sexual abuse. It made me go back to what I always say- the Duggars constantly sexualize and sexually abuse their children, even more than I ever realized.

I highly, highly recommend you read the piece in full (it's not that long and incredibly well written), but I will quote here some of the things that struck me as particularly relevant to this sub:

I have heard of doctrines that say that you don't have to repent of your sins to be saved. They claim that all you have to do is believe and it doesn't matter how much sins you commit, you will still go to heaven since you have eternal life. You will only lose your rewards in heaven if you live a lifestyle of sin, not salvation. I even once heard a doctrine that a person can become a Christian and have a lifestyle of habitual sin since they gave their lives to Christ before. These doctrines are insane. Why hasn't the Church done something about this?

I see a lot of job postings that say "at least [x] years of experience" and am wondering how to quantify my job history. I have held multiple jobs concurrently:

Job 1: 40 hours/week, 3 years (2019-2022)

Job 2: 20 hours/week, 9 months (Apr-Dec 2021)

Job 3: 20 hours/week, 3 months (Aug-Oct 2021)

Do I have 4 years of experience by adding up the time in each role? Do Jobs 2 and 3 count for only 6 months combined because they're each 20 hours/week? Do I have only 3 years because I started working in 2019? Is there some other factor because Job 3 was while I was working both Job 1 and Job 2?

Just wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts on the appropriate management of concurrent end stage AC and GH osteoarthritis. I had toyed with the idea of concurrent mumford and total shoulder as I couldn't find anything in the literature. But I came to my senses obviously worried about stability and acromial fracture.

Most of my patients just want the "big joint" fixed but when they continue to have AC pain after a total shoulder it is discouraging. I'm not loving the idea of doing a mumford following a total shoulder for the same reason I wouldn't do it concurrently. So that leaves mumford first then total shoulder later - but almost universally my patients hate that option.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Every day I seem to get a period where I get hundreds of these warnings :

one about every 15 seconds

If I reset the wan DHCP it suddenly stops and I dont get any more warning for the rest of the day (usually 24 hours)

This seems to correlate with the internet going out (wifi / local still works, but the router thinks the internet is down (I assume its trying to ping outside, but the Pihole doesnt respond as its getting flooded with requests, so it times out and the router turns off the wan port)

once I change the DNS to 1.1.1.1 or similar things work, I get a new IP, I switch back to PiHole DNS and it works again for another day.

im wondering if this device (a wifi plug) might be the culprit if im reading the debug log correctly? It is a newer device so easy to pull out and check but since having to reset up router Ive been chasing bugs for weeks.
