What do native speakers call 'reverse Chinglish'?

edit: From the various replies to this thread, it seems that there's an expression ๆญชๆžœไป for people with poor tones, ็ฟป่ฏ‘่…” for the awkward result of translating English documents into Chinese and ๆฌงๅผๆฑ‰่ฏญ for native speakers returning from o/s having picked up some foreign mannerisms but there doesn't seem to be a widely used term for "Chinese as mangled by inexperienced foreigners" and that's likely because so few foreigners speak Chinese.

Thanks very much everyone for your discussion!

Hi folks,

There are several terms for "poor English spoken by non-native speakers" which encompass a range of things such as poor grammar and lexical choices, poor translation, spelling mistakes, L/N/R conflation, etc. Engrish, Manglish & Chinglish probably being the best-known terms.

To me, Chinglish is not simply poor English. It's English words with a Chinese phrasing and it results in sentences like, "Today, I went with my sister to the movies." (ไปŠๅคฉๆˆ‘่ทŸๅฆนๅฆนๅŽป็œ‹็”ตๅฝฑ) which are very clear and accurate but don't feel quite right.

So in turn, English-speaking learners of Chinese will be producing "reverse Chinglish". I call it ่‹ฑๆ–‡ๅผไธญๆ–‡ but of course that itself is Chinese words produced from English thoughts and given the number of homonyms in Chinese, might not be readily understood! :) When I lived in China, I asked friends a couple of times but I don't recall anyone being able to give me a suitable native term for "reverse Chinglish".

Can any native speakers help out? Do you have a term for "reverse Chinglish"?

Chinglish - English Proofreader Needed

Hey, I receive regular work from a client that simply involves polishing English to a native standard. I have too much work on right now, but I also don't want to lose this client because they're very reliable and send me work on a regular basis.

The price is $15USD/1000 English words (or whatever currency you want if you're on Transferwise)

Ideally, I'm looking for someone based in or around China so that we're on the same time zone, and someone with a degree in either science or literature. The most important thing about this job is sticking to deadlines. Missing a deadline can seriously screw me over. So please only express an interest if you can genuinely complete the work on time.

This is a totally flexible job and can be done from anywhere. If I send you a project, you can look it over first and reject it if you don't like the look of it. It's completely up to you.

Chinglish by David Henry Hwang - Streaming on demand for the next 2 weekend

HI r/Theatre friends! If anyone is interested in checking it out, due to COVID we professionally filmed our production of Chinglish and it will be premiering this Friday. You can stream it on demand any time this weekend (Nov 5-7) or next (Nov 12-14) and there's Broadway on Demand app so you can watch on a TV if you prefer.

If you haven't heard of Chinglish, it's a fun romantic comedy where a desperate American businessman, Daniel, is trying to land the deal of a lifetime in China.

The biggest lesson he learned right away - bring your own translator. Linguistic and romantic hilarity ensues as Daniel finds himself romantically entangled with Xi Yian, the beautiful woman on the other side of the negotiations table.

You will laugh out loud at this fun comedy that shows what can happen when cultures collide in a hilarious way. It's also a touching look at the value of collaboration and appreciation for cultural and linguistic differences.

Details, photos, program and tix are at plethos.org/now-playing

What do you native speakers think of this passage? Is it very Chinglish? How can this passage sound natural?

As it is vividly shown in this article, some people from different positions showed their different attitudes of virtual learning while a survey told us virtual learning didnโ€™t practice as well as we primitively imagine. To sum up, virtual learning doesnโ€™t do effect at least on temporary. But with the development of technology, this method can finally show its value.

"Chinglish" - Pangdemonium

https:// playdate. pangdemonium. com/ (close 3 gaps)

Available on Vimeo until Thursday 21 May 2020 (GMT+8); English subs available; running time 110 minutes; filmed in 2015

Playwright: David Henry Hwang

Description from Pangdemonium's website:

>An American businessman (Daniel Jenkins) with a shady past travels to China to seal a lucrative deal for his sign-making business, and soon realizes that much more than language gets lost in translation. Like Dorothy in Oz, he meets a colourful menagerie of characters, each one a crouching tiger with a hidden agenda โ€“ a gorgeous femme fatale (Oon Shu An), a three-faced politician (Adrian Pang), and a series of increasingly incompetent interpreters. As our dis-Orientated hero falls helplessly into intrigue with dodgy business partners, and hopelessly into bed with mysterious sleeping partners, he finds that this is business as unusual as it could possibly get.
>
>Performed in English & Mandarin, Chinglish is thrilling, topical and timely โ€“ a wildly funny comedy of errors and a cunningly astute comedy of manners that pokes fun at the Westโ€™s frenzied flirtation with China.

Trust no Chinese business, Job Agent, Exporter, TEFL Recruiter, Supplier, Visa Agent, Tour Operator who cannot provide color scans (not copies) of their national ID card, and SAIC business license that you can verify online. Avoid anyone who only gives you their Chinglish name. They will be scams.

First the police and Interpol has no way to identify scammers who cheat you using names like "Joe Cheng" or "Lisa Li". Just google the name "Rebecca Tang scam" and you will see over a thousand foreigners were ripped off by this woman whose real name is Tang Hua". Secondly in China every single legitimate business MUST buy a business license and register with the SAIC and if it is a business that hires foreigners, they must also register with SAFEA, and agency of the Chinese government that regulates and authorizes the hiring of foreign workers. Photocopies can easily be fabricated but it is difficult (but not impossible) to fabricate national ID cards nor SAIC business licenses. That is why you must verify whatever info they give you by email or phone to SAIC and SAFEA. Both SAIC and SAFEA have there HQ in Beijing and they have some staff that speak English fluently Here are their websites: http://saic.gov.cn/ and https://safea.gov.cn

Requesting some help interpreting Chinglish on a buck converter package

"(Attention: The voltage at the port of module is lower than the under-voltage protection threshold. When input current is relatively large, please not ignore the divided voltage on input wire)."

This sounds like a warning but I can't wrap my head around what it's trying to say... any ideas?

A little more background in case it helps; this is a variable DC-DC buck converter, which can have an input voltage from 5-30V, and outputs from 0.5-30V.

Cheers!

Recommendation for all in one bms/balance charging board for 3s or 4s lipo integration? Can't decipher all the chinglish on ebay.

I'm looking to integrate a battery into the case of the radio I'm building (QCX, 12-~16v, <5A). I need a board that can do bms, and balance charge a 3s or 4s lipo pack. I want to be able to just plug the radio into an automotive outlet and have the board auto charge the battery.

The trouble I'm having is that there's lots of boards on ebay and amazon and the like, but the english is so bad and incomplete that I have no idea what board would actually do what I want.

As far as charging, I understand that a 3s could probably be directly charged from an automotive battery, but I would probably have to use a boost converter for a 4s, which is fine. I need it to be able to balance charge the battery at a limited current automatically upon application of charging power.

I know this is a common scenario, but I'm stumped. So if anyone has recommendations, I'm all ears.
