Behind 26 points from Allie Quigley and 16/13 from Candace Parker the Chicago Sky have taken home their first WNBA Championship on home court. Incredible series altogether. I know it's not NBA, but I think it's important nevertheless to celebrate and appreciate great basketball.

Kahleah Copper named WNBA Finals MVP

The Chicago Sky defeat the Phoenix Mercury in a big comeback in the 4th quarter to win the WNBA Championship for the 1st time.

The Sky Outscored the Mercury 26-11 in the 4th quarter alone after Mercury failed to score a single field goal after the final Griner reverse layup. Phoenix's scoring meltdown allowed Chicago to take the lead, the game, the series and the Championship.

This is Chicago's second trip to the WNBA Finals since 2014. The underdogs are back, with Naperville, IL native Candace Parker guiding her new team in a seemingly upsetting way taking out the first seeded playoff team convincingly 3-1.

The mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, just announced that the rally/parade for the Sky is going to be held tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

My partner and I are huge Sky fans and have season tickets. We were at Wintrust for the semi-finals and finals home games and got to see the title clincher. Right after we won last night, I told her how excited I was to go to the rally/parade downtown, but I have a busy day at work lined up tomorrow, so it’s kind of a bummer we most likely won’t be able to attend.

Less than 24 hours notice and hosting said rally on a weekday morning seems like a recipe for a low turnout. How many people that want to attend can realistically request off work with that short notice? Why not host it on a weekend day?

I guess I’m not really sure what the norm is for when the parades/rallies are for teams after championship wins, maybe this is the norm. I just know the Sky/W could benefit from as large of crowds as possible, so I would’ve liked to see it scheduled better!
