A list of puns related to "Carry On Sergeant"
TW: Violence and threats of animal harm
Backstory For those who haven't read my previous posts, Sergeant Shitty is my FMIL who flipped out on me during my SO's Air Force graduation, called my SO's Srgt. to tattle on him for not spending enough time with mommy, has been online stalking me and convinced herself we had a secret wedding (we didn't).
This post is long (apologies) so tl;dr is at the bottom. I meant to post after what happened on Christmas (it was a doozy) but life happened. So Iβm going to post what happened at Christmas today and then post the aftermath later this week. Iβm open to advice/feedback on this post, and will DEFINITELY be asking for advice on the next one.
What happened at Christmas
SO is based 3 hours away from the Srgt. and I (we live in different towns that are on opposite sides of the same major city.) Prior to the military suspending all leave and domestic travel earlier this month due to current events, SO was coming to visit roughly every other weekend, always staying the night at my house but spending part of either Saturday or Sunday at the Srgt.'s house (where his beloved dog still currently is, thanks to him having to live in the dorms for now) to see his dog and help SS with anything she needed done around the house.
He took PTO and had the week of Christmas off, starting from the Friday before Christmas. Again, he was staying the nights at my place but spending part of some of the days at her place, since I canβt be entertaining him 24/7 when Iβm trying to get work done, haha.
Originally, he and I planned to drive separately to my JMaybeMom and JHellYesStepdad's house (another 3 hour drive) on Christmas Eve, stay the night, and do Christmas lunch with them. He'd then head back to his mom's house and spend Christmas night with her. We were driving separately, because I was house sitting for my parents for a couple days after Christmas so they could go visit my stepsisters AND because I'm still persona non grata around the Srgt.'s house, lol. Srgt. Shitty was very aware that this was the plan well in advance, and SO also made sure to spend the majority of Saturday through Monday at her house so she couldn't claim he was
... keep reading on reddit β‘General Goldfein and Chief Wright will both be here to answer your questions from approximately 1400 EST to 1500 EST on October 24th. The AMA is meant to focus around the recent Resiliency Tactical Pause and other resiliency efforts, but they are open to any appropriate question.
This is not the AMA thread. Questions posted here will not be seen during the AMA.
You can send me a private message in advance with your question if you won't be available during the AMA to post it yourself. I won't edit your question at all, but it won't be posted if it's rude, vulgar, or completely out of line.
Please keep your questions as short as possible so they can read them quickly in order to answer as many questions as possible.
General Goldfein's staff will also have an account and will be able to follow-up with questions that CSAF will not be able to get to himself. Chief Wright's staff already has an account and participates here often.
/s UOD will be short sleeve blues, everyone please be in the subreddit by 1300 and send in verification photos of you saluting the screen so we know you're ready for the AMA. I'll need volunteers to clean the HTML and CSS in the subreddit, and you'll have to setup your own chairs in your individual offices. /s
The reg literally states it. I never get bitched out by actual MSGs for this; just the NCOs below that. Like what the fuck? Get over it. This happened to me again today. I go to my S3 ammo who is an E8, cool guy, I say βThank you sergeant!β and as I walk out of the S3 office some rando E6 goes βhey you address him as MASTER sergeant.β Fuck OFF with that shit man, lmao itβs aggravating.
The first instance, I was a PFC who arrived to my second unit which was 3rd SFG. I referred to my detachment E8 as βsergeantβ and got fucking smoked forever. I was so fucking butthurt lmao, canβt even lie.
EDIT: Quite a few asking for the reg. AR 600-20, paragraph 1-7, table 1-1
Definitely gonna get laughed at, but as I am sure you could tell, I am a newer soldier. And yes, I definitely know the difference between the two rank insignias, but on the 1.5 inch dark black patch, I find it hard to tell from a distance. It makes for some very awkward first time encounters. Any tips on how to more easily distinguish the two without literally getting two inches away from their chest?
Edit: thanks for all the awesome responses! Iβve been laughing for a solid 15 minutes
