Background: Wee Meng Chee, or his stage name Wee Meng Chee, is a Malaysian Chinese artist and rapper who has produced music since 2007 with his controversial hit Negarakuku. One of his singles is the song, "Learn Cantonese" (2013).
I have a feeling that the lyrics themselves contain some Canto puns and innuendos in various parts so I would appreciate it if those are explained to me. Also, the entire verse from 3:25 to the end does not have any English translation at all. I'm not Chinese myself so I have no idea what he is saying.
Hence, may I request for:
- The complete translation of the lyrics (the one given in the video looks very vague)
- The various Canto puns and innuendos found in the videos, with timestamp.
- Additional: A transliteration of the last verse, from 3:25 to 4:01.

For the moment I've kind of had enough of generic space-military or firefly-like crews. I'm looking for books (or tvshows/movies) with alien and bizzare themes and settings, especially if it crosses over with history/philosophy/religion.
That's it, that's the post. I like it so much because it took one of my favorite aspects of the Prequels and put it into the Sequels: a beautiful planet with thousands of inhabitants and civilization with some social commentary and politics thrown in while having a beautiful mixture of CGI and practical scenery (see Coruscant, Naboo, Utapau and even Kamino). It really evokes a Prequel imagery to me. I know the sequence isn't liked by many for being "filler" but the planet itself and the whole visual storytelling sparks my imagination like Prequel planets did, and likewise even if I'm not particularly enjoying the actual sequence in it. Plus the idea of a Casino planet is just so awesome to me, and makes it stand out
The Last Jedi to me also really falls in line with the positive aspects of the Prequels to me in general, specially Revenge of the Sith, and that's why both of them plus Empire Strikes Back are my favorite Star Wars movies.

Aside from units with Canto built into their weapons or unique skills, who do you like to use?
Me personally, my favorite is Twelve Seasons Larcei. Having NFU in her weapon and Frenzy makes her amazing in the front-lines. I see a lot of teams struggling against her one-on-one.
I've just finished reading Rise of Endymion and I've literally cried throught the last pages. I'm in desperate need of a new sci-fi/space opera novel to feed my soul. I'd like something "gigantic" as the Cantos are, but not as "austere" as some novels tend to be (even my beloved Dune to some extend). I'd also like it to be somewhat recent: I've recently read The Three-Body Problem and the new, contamined by quantum physics Sci-fi that permeates that and the Cantos was kinda refreshing. Any idea?
EDIT: Love you all, you literally bombarded me with so many good suggestions, but at the same time you kept close to what I was asking. I'm still tryna decide what to read, but I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun!

On another note, given that this is week 26, this marks half a year since this sub started. It's wonderful to see how far we've come together.
I think it does a great job developing Finn and Rose's arcs, is super fun and visually cool.
It feels like a mix of Prequel and EU aesthetics. The jail guards and the boat the doubles as a floating skiff feel like PT things, while the casino itself feels like something Han and Lando would go to in a novel or comic.
The sequence itself allows Finn to see things from Rose's perspective, while reigning him back to his roots. He's mesmerized by it all until he spots the Fathier abuse and child slavery, which I think makes him think of his own past as an abducted child. It makes me hope Finn actually finds his family one day.
It also provides a fun contrast to the other, darker elements of the movie. The casino itself, with a patron trying to use BB-8 as a slot machine, the Fathier chase, BB-8 being a bad ***. It's fun.
For the 2nd time I have read through the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. I have to say it is the finest example of Science Fiction that exists. I have read all of Frank Herbert's Dune and other of the greats and, while many are great nothing touches Hyperion. From its literary references like its structure like Canterbury Tales and poetic influences, to religious thought and criticims and finally building a world unlike any other, it is pure masterpeice. The Shryke in of itself is one of the greatest sci fi characters ever written and it doesn't speak a single line in the whole series! So many thoughts. Would love to hear others discussion. Is Aenea one of the greatest female characters ever? And finally, is this the only remaining never could be filmed Sci Fi book left? Masterpeice!

I’m a pretty avid reader/listener (since a few years back) of Sci-Fi and mostly Fantasy novels (but the genres are similar) and I have to say that I do not remember another series that is finished where the ending was as satisfying as this one. Usually I find myself disappointed with the ending of a series, just because it feels either too forced or too happy-ending for the main characters. This series didn’t have that same “lack” in it at its ending. It gave Raul a “happy” ending with Aenea without bringing her back in some unbelievable or crazy way. And I’ll admit I never thought of the possibility of him being the father of her child in her past/his future until it was revealed, which was awesome. Enjoyed the whole story a bunch but really appreciated the ending. Wraps up a great tale.

Absolutely loved all four books, with RoE possibly being my favorite. Probably got through all four in about two months, which isn't bad considering I have a 1 y/o.
