A list of puns related to "Blow Up Your Video"
He was credited with being part of writing all of the songs during his time with the band, but after this album he is no longer credited. Anyone know why or what happened?
If you pick option 1, You'll have to run over your family with a car till they die
If you pick option 2, then you'll have to bomb your workplace while everyone is there. Employees, Managers, even customers.
After Flick of the Switch was seen as a disappointment, they relaeased '74 Jailbreak (which is kickass btw) and they did the Rock in Rio tour thing. But through late 1984 to 1985 they recorded what would be Fly on the Wall. Like many things it was praised when it first came out. In fact it had a much better release and reception than Flick of the Switch. It's prodcution matched that of a heavy pub band which is actually more of the Bon Scott 70s sound than the Brian sound. Brians vocals were really going at this point. His vocals are not very audible except for Danger and Back in Business which it's not bad. Ive heard someone here mention Angus' guitar sounds like its screaming during the solos and I couldn't agree more. The riffs and overall guitar work on Fly on the Wall is actually some of their best. Some badass songs like the title track, Playing with Girls, Back in Business, and Send for the Man. Playful songs like Shake Your Foundations, Sink the Pink, and Hell or High Water, which have q certain charm to them. Simon brought a slightly more technical drumming style which helped make it have more of a heavier and raw feel.Overall the lyrics aren't too bad. Brian Vocals, the loud guitar and drums and the songs themselves all had a really cool theme of that classic pub rock sound. Just watch the videos.
Blow Up Your Video was recorded riding the success of Who Made Who. Brian had some vocal troubles when recording but eventually experimented with a new style of singing which he would perfect on The Razors Edge. BUYV was the first album since Powerage to be produced by the dream team of George Young and Harry Vanda. It just felt so........so AC/DC. The album has fun riffs and lyrics which go from happy, to emotional, to epic and to pure badassery. I think the album has a real charm to it.
Any thoughts?
I have added the unused tracks to create an altered track listing: How would you do this track list?
I started off with the "better" songs for 1-4 and then added arguable the worst ones for 5-7. 8-9 all have a similar feel to me in their tone so they felt nice together. 11-15 is imo the best that this album could offer. End with a bang
It fixed the production issue with Fly on the Wall, it was some of their catchiest stuff in years. I thought it had a great message with it's title and the song "That's The Way I Wanna Rock N Roll". Heatseeker is a great opener, followed by TTWIWRNR (too long of a title). Meanstreak is easily the best song on the album, both Angus' and Malcolm's parts blend beutifully, and it has such a good grove to it. Go Zone is a weak link I do admit. Kissin Dynamite is super catchy and a solid song. Nick of Time kicks ass in soooo many ways, it's got a good opening, nice fast paced verses, with a spectacular chorus. Some Sin For Nuthin has good lyrics and has an awesome chorus as well. Ruff Stuff is another weak link....AWFUL LYRICS. Two's Up...enough said, it is an EPIC song unlike anything they've done before, and there most unique song along with The Razors Edge two years later. This Means War is a GREAT way to close out the album, it's fast pace nature is fun. It as so many moving parts and I never get bored of it. Now imagine if Snake Eye, Borrowed Time, and Down on the Borderline were added......that would make it way better than it already is!
Plus Brian's voice had finally settled and wasn't caught in that weird place it was from 1984-1986 were it was somewhere between his Back In Black voice and Razors Edge voice. Finally in 1988 he gained the sound that'd continue all the way to Stiff Upper Lip.
What are your guys thoughts?
Selling this Gucci ACDC 'Blow Up Your Video' t-shirt from the SS18 collection. This is brand new and has never been worn. Only selling as it's a touch too short for me being 6"2. I compared this with retail in my local Selfridges store and can confirm this is very accurate.
