Behn Puns

First and foremost, women are HUMAN BEINGS!!! Do you refer to male victims as someone’s son or brother? No? Instead of saying “kisi din ye tumharay maa ya behn ke saath agar howa…” try saying “kisi din tumharay bhai, baap, shauhar ya dost ne kisi ko harass kiya…”. And don’t say noT aLL mEN. Men that harass are someone’s fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons. So if any woman can be a victim, any man can be a criminal.

I understand that the intent of saying kisi ki ma ya behn is to try to get people to be empathetic. But it doesn’t work, because instead men start putting restrictions on their female family members. And because of this mindset, they only care about their own mothers and sisters to treat them with respect. Women deserve respect because they’re simply human beings.

I've heard that Behn reeds are better compared to other reeds, how's the experience with his BRIO reeds?

I have been playing clarinet for 10 or so years and go to college for it now and I can confidently say ARIA by Brad Behn is the best brand of reeds that I have come upon.

I have a plethora of reeds in all brands, strengths, and cuts from the horrible Ricos to legere synthetics to the unpredictable Van Doren and none of them are even close to the level of ARIAs.

The big difference: the age they harvest the reed

Many companies harvest reed prematurely, as it allows them to produce more reeds in a shorter time. These premature reeds are often a vibrant shade of that light greenish reed color. The downside of harvesting the reeds early is that the reeds are more unpredictable as not all reeds grow at the exact same speed. This leads to major inconsistencies in reed tone and how long it takes to break in a reed, even within one box.

ARIA reeds are made from a much more mature reed, giving the reed a physically darker color than other brands. With a higher maturity, comes less inconsistencies as the reeds have all reached their “adulthood”. These reeds require little effort to break them in and can be easily adjusted and shaved to fit your tone and embouchure.

I was recommended them by my clarinet teacher but had no idea about what strength to use. I called the company and left a voice mail and was happily surprised to hear back directly from Brad Behn who informed me the coming from a Van Doren v12 size 4 to try the 4, 4.5,or 5 and I bought a box that sampled all three and found the best for me was the 4.5. There has not been a day where I wished that I was using a different brand.
