I suffer from insomnia since the age of 5 and chronic fatigue since the age of 20. I mitigate my insomnia-induced cognitive deficits/decline and lack of energy with anything I can get my hands on, nootropics, supplements, cannabis, psychedelics, modafinil, leaves of obscure plants I find in the tea sections of exotic stores.
One such tea is Neem Tea (Azadirachta indica). This tea has quite a potent and positive effect. It makes me incredibly clear-headed, despite lack of sleep, and when I don't lack sleep it is an unusually powerful nootropic. It gives me a very strong pump-like feeling in my muscles that I usually only get after weightlifting, and this feeling significantly enhances my exercise performance. On top of these effects, my mood is significantly enhanced throughout the entire day if I drink 1g of tea from Neem leaves in the morning.
It seems like dream stuff, however there are reports of it having some level of toxicity. Studies are very conflicting, with very different results and very different approaches (some using the bark, some using an extract, some an oil, or it's an animal study, or an unreliable journal). For the life of me I can't find anything conclusive on this. Does anyone know in particular of any studies or anything conclusive on the toxicity of this plant?
