A list of puns related to "All Stars"
>The NBA All-Star games is for the fans and I am glad they have the vote. But come on folks — Klay Thompson ahead of Booker? Carmelo Anthony ahead of KAT and Gobert? Kyrie Irving & Derrick Rose ahead of Van Vleet and Garland? Do better NBA fans.
> All the young players that apparently sucked in LA (Lonzo, Caruso, Ingram, Randle, Hart) all got traded and all have been key players for other franchises, some all stars and franchise players > > Is LA just a tough place to play? Is it distracting? What is it?
LeBron James now leads the NBA in the latest fan returns for NBA All-Star Voting presented by Tissot, which concludes this Saturday, Jan. 22.

Over his last 4 games before tonight, he’s averaged 31.0 ppg 8.8 apg 5.0 rpg 2.0 spg 5.8 3PM and only 1.3 turnovers while shooting 48/46/96 good for 66% TS. Pair that with his stellar defensive play and the fact that Toronto is finally healthy and winning games, it’s going to be tough to deny this man a spot on the AS roster if he keeps it up.
CP3: 14/10/5 on 47/32/83
Lowry: 14/8/5 on 42/32/84
Suns are 31-9, Heat are 26-15 but Lowry has played a bulk of those games with Caleb Martin, Max Strus and Tyler Herro as his running mates. CP3 has had Booker, Ayton, Bridges, Crowder, Cam mostly healthy.
How is Lowry not even in the conversation but CP3 is a lock?
>NBA fans who think a team’s record should determine it’s number of all-stars — teams don’t win big with one star (i.e. Jokic) but that doesn’t negate his play. And teams like Miami have their entire team producing. That doesn’t mean that any player is necessarily in the top 12.
>All stars should be a celebration of individual greatness with a consideration for impact on winning. Pretty simple.
>Thanks for saying it better than I did and in a lot fewer words.
>IMO — Eastern Conference All-Stars. 9 easy choices — Antetokounmpo, Embiid, Durant, Young, DeRozan, LaVine, Sabonis, Van Vleet and Garland. Considered 9 guys for the last 3 spots and picked Harden, Brown and Holiday (over J. Allen, Butler, Herro, Middleton, Tatum, LaMelo Ball).
> The Cavs!!!!!!! 27-18! Most consistently entertaining League Pass team from a basketball nerd standpoint at least for me. Great chemistry, unconventional lineups, likable young stars. I’m voting 2 Cavs All-Stars just telling you now.
Standings:
> Cavs are currently tied at the 4th seed with the Milwaukee Bucks, 1.5 games back from the 1st seed
For me it was Naomi Small, I didn't care so much for her during S8 beyond her being a fashion queen or a "Raven admirer". I was surprised she make it to the final, leaving behind queens like Acid Betty or Thorgy Thor.
I felt in love with her during AS4 for several reasons like her Prince's outfit, the purple gown for the final runway, her snatch game of love character, the "Club 96" moment, the lip sync against Monét in that green outfit and her nerve to make bold choices like sending Manila home (as shocking as it was).
What about you?
I wasn’t really noticing the flaws with his direction until this episode. this was honestly the weakest one so far and the robertesque method really makes the show feel anticlimactic. In the mandalorian he did boba fett’s return alright, but the whole episode itself felt like it was made with a fan films budget. Even more so with today’s episode. those speeder bikes looked like a lego or adult swim star wars spoof and the episode’s tone lacked authenticity just felt goofy in the wrong ways.
Humor has always been a part of star wars and makes for some of our favorite and most memorable moments, but it should never be instituted in a way that takes away from the believability and immersion of the story itself. It’s meant to alleviate darker moments and enrich characters’ relationships. The story’s authenticity and validity should remain intact. The second episode approached this in one of the best ways i’ve seen it done and i know many have immensely enjoyed that episode above the other two.
I know it’s still not even halfway done and all is said and done for this season, but i don’t want this show and others to continue suffering when it’s unavoidable. his passion and creativity is best used in other aspect i think, whether as a producer or writer or whatever.
what do y’all think?
edit: was it not clear this is an opinion? some of you guys are starting to worry me…
edit 2: to the various users who pointed out that it’s his take on action scenes: you hit the nail on the head. cause the dialogue hasn’t been lacking at all.
Ok hear me out. Jared Keeso is a hockey player, he can skate and keep up and knows the rules so it wouldn't be a total sham. The All-Star game is all about fun and growing the sport. How absolutely hilarious would it be if Keeso in character as Shoresy was mic'd up as a ref for the All-Star game?
The whole "all audiences" thing is obviously the major snag here -- Shoresy is the opposite of wholesome. But chirping has become such an artform and as a way to grow the audience and create viral clips this would be a gold mine. Players chirping back would be fucking incredible. EARMUFFS is literally the only downside here.
Edit: paired with Wes McCauley

In a time where everyone is arguing about goofy characters in a Star Wars show, I’m reminded of the first time I watched Star Wars Rebels.
They created two goofy, bumbling stereotypical villains in Season 1, Commandant Aresko and Taskmaster Grint, one being the skinny uptight one and the other being the fat dumb one. Both try and fail numerous times in Season 1 to catch the main characters, but because they’re so bumbling and stupid, they trip over themselves time and time again and metaphorically (also sometimes literally) shake their fist at the heroes in a “I’ll get you next time!” schtick. Both are incredibly cartoony and don’t fit into a serious story, but that’s the tone Rebels tried to go for…that is, at least at first.
Because in episode 13, they’re executed on screen.
That was the “shit got real” moment, killing 2 goofy cartoon lackeys in a cold, sterile execution, and the fact they had the balls to do that on the Disney Channel of all places made me think that nothing was off the table. And since that moment, Rebels continued to deliver some really serious scenes, some even the best in the entire franchise.
The bait and switch for the Rebels villains got me in a mindset that if there’s something I don’t like, I need to see it through to the end. And now I look at the Cybernetics gang in Boba, and I hope and pray they do something similar. Because goddamn, they so very clearly look goofy that I’m sure the team knew, at least I hope they did. Nobody in Jon Faverau’s team looked at Boba walking with power ranger bikes behind him and “oh yeah that looks really cool”, right? It may be denial, but I’m gonna hold out hope that they’ve got something planned. What do you all think?
I don't wanna see no Raptors flairs posting their opinions in this thread. I only ever see Raptors flairs whenever these questions get posted so I want some unbiased takes from other teams' fans.
Do you think FVV is an All Star this season?
Atlanta was interested in trading for Ben Simmons until Daryl Morey wanted to pawn off Tobias Harris on them. The 76ers seems to have accepted that in a 1 on 1 trade they won't be getting an all star in return so they are attempting to improve the team across the board instead of running it back with a different PG.
Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris make a combined $72m.
Windhorst is also saying that some executives believe that one of the endgames for Ben Simmons is that he's traded in a s&t for James Harden next year.
> Howard has a theory. His omission from the team released in October — which players, media, coaches and executives voted on and aimed to name the 75 best players since the league’s inception in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America — is more personal than hoops-inspired. > > “I can’t go back and do anything right now,” Howard said in a recent conversation with The Athletic. “But at the time, I was kinda bitter to hear that I wasn’t on that list.” > > But Howard is on ours. He clocks in at No. 56 on The Athletic’s Top 75. > > He calls his exclusion from the league’s list “very disrespectful” and comes armed with reasons why. > > “You hear people say, ‘He was only dominant for a couple of years.’ I didn’t know eight years of being an All-Star, being dominant for eight years, was a couple of years,” he said. “I didn’t know winning three Defensive Player of the Year awards in a row, and it should’ve been four, is something that is considered not good. > > “There’s guys who don’t have those many accolades. I’m the (youngest) player that’s (reached) 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 all the way up to 9,000 rebounds. That doesn’t add up. So, where is the miscommunication? Where is the lie with my stats?”
>Howard reportedly stated a preferеnce to go to the Nеts. The Magic dеalt him to the Lakers, who were putting together a supеr team with Kobе Bryant, Stеve Nash and Pau Gasol.
>“My intention when I first left Orlando was not to go to L.A., and the Magic knew that, but despite my wishes to go somewhere else, they sent me to L.A., which was one of the places at that time that I did not want to go. I felt like it would have made people feel as though I was trying to follow in somebody else’s footsteps,” Howard said, a reference to Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal, to whom a young Howard drew comparisons.
> Howard uses a 32-point, 30-rebound game he had during his one season in Charlotte, only the second 30-30 game in the NBA since 1982, to push against the critics. > >“Their take even on the 30-30 game was, ‘Well, he could’ve been doing that every night if he just took the game seriously,’” he said. “It’s like, it doesn’t make any sense. I did something that hasn’t been done — once in 35 years by Kevin Love.”
> Lillard intends to give the Trail Blazers organization time to find its next leader of basketball operations. But beyond the front office component, the face of the franchise still wants significant changes to the roster. Multiple sources have told The Athletic that Lillard would like to play with Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons. The Trail Blazers’ league-worst defense would instantly improve, and sharing a backcourt with a non-shooter could work given Lillard’s high-volume usage.
> Sources say the Trail Blazers, under Olshey, discussed the framework of a trade for Simmons, moving CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and a young player such as Nassir Little or Anfernee Simons to Philadelphia. The 76ers, sources said, at one point asked the Trail Blazers for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected. Olshey maintained significant confidence in the roster he constructed. Now, it’s unclear if there’s a deal to be had with the 76ers. But with Olshey out, who among chair Jody Allen, vice chair Bert Kolde and Cronin would be the one making the call on a Simmons trade or any acquisition designed to alleviate Lillard’s concerns?

There is a post asking which "modern" Star Trek is your favorite and I'd like to counter I love all Star Trek. Not every episode is gold and every series has it's strong and weak points, but Star Trek has always been about progress and change. The characters that clung to the "ways things used to be" always eventually saw their error and changed their ways.
