A list of puns related to "African American Lives"
Hopefully this goes over well.
I've heard arguments claiming that Blacks lack a cultural identity to relate to compared to Mexicans, at least in the US, and that it's a major factor in the criminal disparity between both races, now I'm not entirely convinced by this argument for the following reasons;
1- While slavery has no doubt oppressed the expression of culture for the slaves at the time, black people stopped being slaves over 200 years ago, almost no black person today will refer to slavery as one of the main causes of their woes, in fact, poverty is far more likely to be mentioned, and Hispanics are touched by this issue just as much as Blacks are.
2- The modern black community has many peaceful, cultural figures to look up to, Martin Luther King, 2pac Shakur, Kendrick Lamar, etc, so they're not exactly short on celebrity heroes or historical leaders to imitate, in fact, as far the US goes, I'd say they're more advantageous in this regard compared to Hispanic immigrants.
3- Cultural trends in the US are majorly dictated by the black community, from music, to fashion, to slang, Hip-Hop which has its roots in African-American culture, is a worldwide behemoth and arguably the biggest music genre today.
If this were a Civ game, the African-American civilization would score pretty high on cultural status, so them having a lack of identity is honestly not a justification for commiting three times as many murders as Hispanics, a race which is equally suffering alongside their neighboring Blacks.
The other thing people mentioned was single-parent households, except that according to this chart, there's a disparity of about 20% between both races, once again, it's not enough to justify the uptick in crime rate.
The following are my arguments copy/pasted from other discussions I've had in the past few hours;
>Black people are less likely to be hired
By about 1% compared to Hispanics as of 2018 according to this Forbes article
>where they attended school is less likely to be funded,
Hispanic immigrants also live in the same neighborhoods that are likely to have underfunded schools, with [undergraduate enrollment](http

Obligatory βhear me outβ. I am a bi-racial African American female. I am an advocate for members on the fringes of our society. One thing Iβve learned from this movement, something Iβve inherently known for quite some time, is that African Americans are not the only race or ethic group that suffer at the hands of systemic corruption.
This community is not the only one marginalized or penalized for their skin color, socioeconomic status, or disparity. I feel like with the progress the movement is making as a civil rights movement, it should grow to encompass other marginalized groups. Groups directly affected as African American lives are.
Lives that were treated as less than, not worth a welfare check, not worth equality, opportunities, justice. Killed for being different and for no other reason, by individuals, by institutions, by cops. Groups that were mistreated and abused, that are still being mistreated and abused to this day.
I believe the Black in black lives matter should encompass those lives who are forced into the dark shadows of our society. Despite their skin color, because they donβt have enough income, they donβt live in the right part of town, they have a disability, or donβt identify as the βcorrectβ gender or sexuality, they are the right age to have valid rights or were abused and their voices donβt count. Their peopleβs written out of our history books and their stories never told...I could go on...there are so many other affected by the this warped system thatβs put in place. Affected by the people in power and their inability to want to treat people as human as a equally as a whole.
I feel like this is a civil rights movement and this movement should encompass the civil liberties of all people who are in the margins. I believe together we can make true and organized progress.
But keeping all these issues separate, these movements separate will only make it harder to fight the same powers we are all targeting.
In my family, Iβm being persecuted, so Iβm seeing this is an unpopular opinion, but I see it as a responsibility like any other civil right movement to address as many inequalities as possible to make life and opportunity to live life equal for all. At least try.
Edit: Adjusted View Point- BLM does not need to encompass other marginalized groups, but maybe another NEW or evolved version of the movement should. Or maybe these individual movements should organize and come together to fight the bigger system and problem a
