I wrote an essay about the differences in the portrayal of Irene Adler in the original short story and the TV show for school. It is about 13 pages long and in the end I really enjoyed all the research and the writing (I also got a lot of inspiration and information from this subreddit, so thank you very much :).
To sum it up: I think that the original canon conveys a much better and more modern image of feminism and women in society than the recent TV adaptation. I know there are a lot of different opinions about this topic, but if you are interested in reading it, write a comment or text me and I will send it to you. Btw I am only 16, not a native English speaker and have next to no experience in speaking English. I still think that my text is more or less well written, but if you find any mistakes, please feel free to correct me. :)
There are a few quotes from famous mathematicians that depict a rather bleak outlook for your prospects in becoming a better mathematician past your earlier years (A couple below). Have you seen this to be true in your departments and personal journey through mathematics - or do you think it may only apply at the highest levels or something else?

Who else thinks Sadie should have gotten more screen time? I am kinda disappointed that we barely get to go out fighting with her until chapter 6. Is there a specific reason this was done? What are your thought?
I like the idea of a removable box magazine so I know it is without a doubt unloaded. But should I avoid it due to possible future troubles like appearance laws. (I don't think south Australia currently has them but you never know the future)
