Hi, guys. So I got the bad news today. My results came back and turn out my cancer has come back. I cried of course... I was shocked and in disbelief. I did everything for my body to avoid relapse but it seems very fragile. I don't know what will happen to me in a couple of days, weeks, or months. I don't even know if I could make it this time.
For APL who also relapsed, what's the procedure you underwent? Have you undergone a bone marrow transplant?
I know someone who is diagnosed with leukemia - I believe it's acute promyelocytic leukemia - and I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of drug will they be getting to treat it. I want to know because I heard that it's different, and requires special treatment. P.S. I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit for this. Thank you.

OncBioMune owns the commercialization rights for tretinoin throughout Mexico, Central America and Latin America.
PROCAPS S.A.S., the Company's contract manufacturing organization, is currently in the midst of manufacturing the first batch of tretinoin from its state-of-the-art cGMP facility in Colombia. OncBioMune has been advised that production remains on schedule for the planned product launch scheduled in 2018.

There are currently no approved drugs in Mexico for the treatment of APL, an aggressive type of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in which there are too many immature blood-forming cells in the blood and bone marrow, which leads to a shortage of healthy white and red blood cells and platelets. In developed countries, APL is regarded as one of the more curable types of leukemia, with tretinoin a commonly prescribed part of the therapeutic regimen. However, little therapeutic progress has been made in developing countries to deliver a measurable benefit with respect to complete hematological remission and disease-free survival, as is highly possible with tretinoin in the treatment protocol.

CYNK-001 was recently granted fast track designation by the FDA for the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
The FDA granted fast track designation to CYNK-001, a cryopreserved human placental hematopoietic stem cell-derived natural killer (NK) cell therapy that is not genetically modified, for the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), according to a press release from the biotechnical company developing the agent, Celularity Inc.
CYNK-001 is the only cryopreserved allogeneic, off-the-shelf NK cell therapy that incorporates CD56-positive and CD3-negative NK cells expanded from human placental CD34-positive cells and is being developed as one of Celularity’s placental-derived allogeneic cell therapies. The therapy is being developed for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and infectious diseases.
“We believe that the unique properties of our cell source, including the ability to proliferate and maintain activity, could be the key to improving response rates and durability for patients,” Robert Hariri, MD, PhD, founder, chairperson, and chief executive officer of Celularity, said in a press release. “We are pleased to receive this fast-track designation from the FDA for AML supporting continued development of our placental-derived NK cell platform. CYNK-001 previously received orphan drug designation for malignant gliomas and fast track designation for glioblastoma multiforme.”
Pathology Acute myeloid leukemia is a disease that primarily afflicts adults. The likelihood of being diagnosed with AML increases with age; the median age of diagnosis is 65 with very few cases repo.
Course of action: Arsenene nanosheets have been shown to have potent antiproliferative activity against a variety of cancer cells, especially NB4 acute promyelocytic leukaemia cells, while showing no toxicity towards normal cells. A mechanistic study in NB4 cells revealed that arsenene induced the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the depolarization of mitochondrial membrane potentials, thereby leading to apoptosis of the cells.
Abstract
Arsenene has recently emerged as a promising new two‐dimensional material for biomedical applications because of its excellent optical and electronic properties. Herein, novel 2D arsenene nanosheets were synthesized and shown to be effective against NB4 promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) cells (82 % inhibition) as well as inducing apoptosis while showing no toxicity towards normal cells. The high zeta potential, small size, and the planar structure were crucial to the toxicity of the materials. Label‐free proteomic profiling analysis suggested that arsenene affected nuclear DNA replication, nucleotide excision repair, and pyrimidine metabolism pathways by downregulating the DNA polymerases POLE, POLD1, POLD2, and POLD3. Mass spectrometric studies showed that arsenene bound mainly to nuclear nucleotide acid binding proteins in NB4 cells and further cellular fluorescence studies revealed that the arsenene destroyed the nuclei. In vivo toxicity tests in mice also indicated the physiological biosafety of arsenene.
