Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka (Cherry Blossom) at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Unlike most Ohkas, which were powered by 3x Type 4 Mark 1 Model 20 solid-propellant rocket motors, the Type 22 was powered by an Ishikawajima Tsu-11 motorjet (essentially a piston-powered jet engine).

TIL In WWII, the Japanese employed the Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka: a purpose-built, rocket-powered, human-guided, kamikaze attack aircraft for use against Allied ships. In Japanese, its name was "cherry blossom"; American sailors gave it the nickname "baka" - Japanese for idiot or fool.

If a Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka crashed into the north or south World Trade Centers, would it have been as effective as the planes that were actually used?
Would the WW2 Japanese kamikaze aircraft do as much damage to the towers?
