A list of puns related to "Yen Press"
Just thought I'd share a quick rant. Did anyone feel Yen Press's translation was full of awkward prose? Take Volume 12 as an example.

>He was already in a relationship that could be called friendly with Honoka, so it could be called only natural that he wouldnโt look in her direction for a greeting.
I find it hilarious how the translator just translated ๏ฝใจใใใ literally without caring about how awkward it ended up.
You'd think they'd tidy it up to something like:
>You could say he was already close to Honoka so it was only natural that he didn't expect a self introduction from her.
Then a few sentences later I read this which prompted me to go to the source because of how out of context it seemed.
>Tatsuya didnโt affect a pompous, self-important air. He might have been a bad person, but that didnโt mean he was callousโat least, not if you asked him, anyway.

>้ไนใฏใใใจใใฃใใใถใใใใชใๆงๆ ผใฎๆชใ็ไผผใฏใใชใใฃใใๅฝผใฏใๆชใไบบใใงใใฃใฆใใไบบใๆชใใใใใงใฏใชใใโโใใใพใงใ่ช็งฐใ ใใ
There's clearly a word play on ๆชใไบบ and ไบบใๆชใ (mean, ill-natured) here. If I'm not mistaken, ๆชใไบบ is meant to mean defective person (referring to Tatsuya's inferior magic calculation area) instead of its usual meaning here.
I've read a few other official TLs from Seven Seas (Youjitsu and Mushoku Tensei) and J-Novel (Grimgar) and found the prose there way more smooth and natural. This is the first volume I picked up from Yen Press and I've been sighing at every other sentence.
Update: After reading more, some of the awkward prose can probably be attributed to how the original didn't have great prose (can't say for sure since I'm not fluent) and had weird quirks like random parenthesized question marks. That said, the official translator is definitely not fluent in Japanese. I know because I'm not yet I could still tell this portion was mistranslated.

>Isoriโs Coulomb repulsion control spell lowered the electromagnetic repulsion force in the high-gravity region to one-ten-thousandth. The electromagnetic forces at play between protons were multiplied by 10360 the force of gravity acting on the heavy hydrogen nuclei. The electromagnetic force was reduced to one-ten-thousandth and the gravity increased one hundred times, but that
I have always been a "official or nothing" type of person, but after 13 novels, I'm getting a bit tired of Yen Press and their schedule. I really want to read ahead, but I don't want to read a funky translation/writing style first and have it spoil that actual edition for me when it does come out. In terms of actual writing quality (not necessarily translation since I already know Yen Press ones are questionable), would the unofficial editions be comparable?
And I believe I've asked this before, but they're still just a gray area in terms of legality, correct? Aka, pretty much all risk falls on the uploader and not the reader (as long as you don't download and distribute)
Hello! I'm writing this to help anyone thinking about buying the Yen Press' Pandora Hearts PandoraBox. First of all, I just got it today, January 3rd, and ordered on December 19th, but there were holidays during this period so that should be taken into account for how long it'll take. Moving onto the set itself, the set is well packaged and is covered in styrofoam, I assume to prevent dented corners, which would sometimes occur in the original run of the set. The protection measures were successful and the outer box was near perfect except for some very minor white exposed and some sticker residue on the box (I have no idea why,) but I took vinegar and scrubbed the residue, it came right off with no damage to the box. The inside of the box had slightly more white exposed, it's not a ton, but still quite noticeable. These sets are sealed in plastic wrap so any damage was from creation and not during shipping. The books themselves, as many know, came with scuffs on almost all of them, but this will happen with almost every single box set due to the design, so if this is a deal breaker for you, DO NOT buy this set. However, since it's a design flaw and not a unique flaw, I don't really mind it. I actually think mine was on the lighter side of scuffing. My biggest issue with this set would be how hard it is to put in the books, taking them out is rather simple for me if grabbed by top and bottom as seen in many reviews. There were also some small rips at the top of some of the books, though not horrible and only on about 3 of them, but this is a flaw not happening with every set, so your books may not have any tears. I would overall recommend the set if you want all the volumes, it's very pretty and is the most inexpensive way (currently) to get all the books and (currently) the only way without spending an absolute fortune. As for those who already have the books and want this merely as a collector's item, I would not get this set. Yes, it's pretty, but the book scuffing dampens it quite a bit, and the white showing through on the box as well, if there were any alternative way to be getting the series without spending a ton, I would be doing so as I am very picky about my books. For me, this box set is the only way to get the series, so it's still worth it, but it's definitely not the masterpiece it appears to be in the videos and pictures. I am still very happy with the set and did research prior to buying it, I was expecting the damages that I got, but I wa

Is the translation of Re:Zero's light novel in Brazilian Portuguese better than the Yen Press translation?
I want to buy the light novel in brazilian portuguese, but i heard that the Yen Press translation is very bad and that made me afraid to buy the light novel, i want advice on the subject.
There have been a boatload of news from Anime NYC 2021. Below are the announcements from Kodansha and Yen Press about upcoming manga.
Here is a round up of all the shoujo/josei releases from Kodansha's panel at Anime NYC 2021:
Hopefully, I got all of them. The rest are either shounen/seinen manga. Notably Sweat & Soap is getting a box set, and Shonen Note: Boy Soprano is being released for the first time in print/digital (same mangaka as Our Dreams at Dusk, highly recommended). Some long-running shounen like Noragami and Fire Force are getting omnibus releases.

Everyone Just thought you should know that the translator for the English version of overlord announced on the Twitter that they are no longer translating the series yen press Apparently volume 13 was the last book for the light novels it looks like the line 14 of the manga is well will be the last.Going forward itโs unknown right now if theyโre going to hire another translator itโs highly likely itโs going to happen but you never know currently right now official release dates for the 14th volume and onwards are going to be unknown at this point I know that the yen press versions arenโt highly regarded around and this Reddit which is understandable I to have some issues with the way she translated things but itโs still unfortunate news hereโs hoping they find somebody soon. I will post a link to the actual Twitter post below for people to see.

I own volumes from all three companies and yen press charges the most and doesnโt even give the same effort in quality. Viz gives the โyouโre reading this the wrong way โ page, cover page, character page and series recommendations in the ads while yen literally youโll be lucky to have a title page lmao. Kodansha is almost as good as Viz so I place it in the middle but man Yen press charging 3 more a volume for less effort is insane.
Today, Volume 25's English release has caught up to the Japanese releases.
Man Kawahara's release schedule for this series has collapsed hard lmao
