My Collection. I've collected everything from goodwill over the past 5 years. I know a lot of my copies are torn and worn out but they mean a lot to me. I don't think I'd be here if it weren't for starting IT in 2014.

Does a copy of a worn key create a new "perfect" key, or an exact copy of the worn key?
Sorry if this is a stupid question - are key profiles discrete or continuous?
If discrete, and there are (for example) 8 teeth with 6 possible heights each, then even a worn key could used to create a new perfect copy of the original un-worn key profile. But if duplicates simply copy the exact geometry, then copying a worn key gives you a brand new worn key.
I'm asking because my apt mailbox requires me to violently jiggle my key in order to insert and remove it and I'm wondering if a copy will resolve the issue.

For the regular I use a heaping tablespoon of batter, for the big ones I use lg 1/4 cup and add 3 minutes to the baking time (for my oven its 12 minutes). Key too worn out for copy?
Hey all! I’m curious how a key copy machine works and if this key example is too worn out to be copied? If I understand a key tumbler correctly, the high points actuate pins in their correct position, so hopefully the soft edges won’t be a problem. I’m no expert though! Appreciate the input before I take this to a locksmith or if I need a dealer to make a new one based off my VIN ($$$)
