A list of puns related to "Wine Searcher"
Buying some aged wine off of a friend. Provenance is impeccable. Very nice stuff but not top tier Burgundy or Bordeaux. Couple Shirazes from Barossa Valley and some notable California wines from Napa and Sonoma. Many are no longer being sold via the wine-searcher network but you can see the reported analytics. Are those reliable for a benchmark in pricing?
I've just noticed that wine searcher has an alert facility. Wine searcher is quite good as a quick reference tool but I've not seen this before. Does anyone use this and for what reasons? Wondering if it'd be good to alert me for gaps in my verticals.

What a shame this post is.....an article from a journalist on the pros and cons of cellaring wine and a conclusion being that, in their opinion, the answer is "no" would be fine but to write something inflammatory on all cellaring of wine with a small acknowledgment that "there are some older Bordeaux vintages that are really interesting wines" is just a real bummer. I've had wine with neophytes and people with decades of experience and no matter the level of experience, even if a wine isn't "great" to the person consuming that beverage, the capability to age and change, not always for the better, has always been inspiring to people I've had old wine with. Thinking about that year, the work that went into it, the chemical changes and unique qualities that allow it.... Every year is different for a harvest and a winemaker and now that climate change is here in force and regions you'd never expect to allow grapes outside of rules that have been in place for sometimes centuries are doing just that: I would argue it has never been more important to cellar wine. Even in comparison to phylloxera, climate change will impact what we know as a traditional profile for all regions around the world, some for the better arguably but all will undoubtedly be changed. It's pretty basic to link "Boomers" and aging wine as well, I am not in that generation but as a journalist to carelessly link the two together and casually claim they have somehow been "duped" to believe wine can age is amateurish.
Fine wine, just like quality journalism, is in the eye of the beholder but quality holds up no matter how matter the cost of the wine or how famous the author over time. Maybe I'm falling in the writer's trap by reacting to it but it's a strange thing to pass judgement on a large group of people that enjoy cellaring wine and drinking it, the outliers that shame others for drinking wine too early are a sliver that are similarly posting nasty things to get people in a lather and are also, similarly, a little envious of those that are clearly enjoying themselves.
I really enjoy most articles written on Wine Searcher but why shame others for having hobbies that don't hurt others and give them some joy in life, be it a 20 year old $20 Kabinett or a 30 year old $1k grand cru Burgundy? Should we stop enjoying art as well? Admiring the work of mid-century architecture and furniture that was made in a different time and for similar reasons may not be easily duplicated?
I got
... keep reading on reddit β‘Good or bad results? I'm still trying to find Larue Weller, yes I know.
Was wondering if anyone here purchased a winesearcher pro membership to sell their wines classified? Seems to have a lot of traffic... Seems like a small price to pay to get some good exposure. Anyone have experience with it? I don't think theres a commission or fees associated with the sale either which is nice...
Are there any apps that let you search wines and see which local stores currently sell them?
Does anyone have Wine-Searcher Pro here that would be willing to see what availability and pricing there is for Hedonism Quindecimus in the area?
hello everyone!
I have an opportunity to sell one of my extra bottles and was contacted by a potential buyer. I'm not an expert with online sales so I was wondering what precautions I need to take in order to secure a successful sale. I requested payment through paypal but I am afraid of charge back and potentially losing the bottle and the money. Please advice! Cheers everyone!
Hi Wineit,
We rolled out some new features on our website recently and I thought you lot might like the be the first to take a look. Below is an email that our IT Manager sent to all staff yesterday.
Let me know what you gentlemen and ladies think: Good, bad, useful, useless, sexy or ugly?

This morning we released several new features on Wine-Searcher.
On region pages we now display a Google map of the location and a pie chart showing the grape varieties used in wine production in that region, e.g. http://www.wine-searcher.com/regions-france
On Grape pages we display a pie chart of the regions where the variety is most commonly used, e.g. http://www.wine-searcher.com/grape-98-chardonnay
On merchant detail pages we have a new Quality Price Ratio widget that uses critic scores, wine-searcher rank (number of searches) and pricing information to recommend wines to users from that merchantβs list. We also display a Google Map and the regions from which their wine list is sourced, e.g. http://www.wine-searcher.com/merchant/2
Iβm getting divorced soon and want to celebrate with an epic bottle of Syrah.
I have a $500 budget and want to drink the wine right away. Where could I get a bottle of Chave Red Hermitage? Iβve not spent more than $90 for a bottle of wine so I want to be assured Iβm purchasing from someone reputable.
Additionally, what are some good vintages in my budget?
I can't speak for their beer, but I put in an order December 26th for 3 bottles of whisky. They said it might take 10 business days to fulfill the order. I decided to be nice and patient but by January 13th after more than 12 business days I sent them an email. I was told that they would escalate my order and they would get back in touch within 24 hours. After 36 hours of no response I followed up asking if they really were going to follow up or if I needed to cancel my order.
At which point they canceled my order.
Meaning they never had any intention in fulfilling my order.
I think it's because they realized they either didn't have the bottles they said they did, or they decided they couldn't offer me the bottles for the price they offered.
Oh and of course, the cancelation email says I can expect to get my refund returned to me... "within 3-14 business days (weekend and holidays excluded". Meaning they could easily end up holding on to my money for over a month. Maybe that's the actual business model?
Who knows how long they would have dragged me along waiting for an order that would never come.
Good evening everyone. I canβt find any info online and I was curious if anyone had information on the price increase I just saw on a couple of the Ardbeg lines. I am trying to figure out if it due to local reasons or an across the board price increase.
With some Christmas money, I picked up both an Corryvrekan and Uigeadail from the Virginia ABC for $84.99 and $81.99 respectively. These were the list prices on the website in December. I decided to check the new Scotch sales for January and noticed that both of these bottles are now showing with list prices of $119.99 ($99.99 on sale) for the Corryvrekan and $89.99 ($79.99 on sale)for the Uigeadail.
Just curious if I got lucky in the case of the Corryvrekan since its list price jumped $35.00.
How do you guys find new upcoming (or even old bottles) that you like?
For years I relied on my mother in law finding incredible bottles we all enjoyed. Turley, Molly Dooker, Prisoner, 8 Years in the Desert, etc. Unfortunately she passed this year :(
I think she found those via Wine Enthusiast maybe?
So publications/internet? Trying a new glass at a restaurant? Wine bar? Through other friends?
Iβve had good success at a wine bar where I live but having 2 little kids hampers a lot of me going there lol.
What say ye?
Title says it, looking for recommendations for a birthday gift for my wife and I thought a birth year bottle would be nice.
Iβd love to hear 1) which wines you would recommended, and 2) where you would think I would be able to get it in the US if you happen to know. (Iβm in NJ, USA)
In term of her preferences: Red: we went pretty heavy into Barolo and Barbera dβAlba after a visit to Piemonte this summer, dominating our cellar right now. Malbec is one of our other go-tos and most recently a 2008 Chateau Musar pleasantly surprised us both.
White: my wife enjoys Rieslings that are not too sweet, or a nice Sancerre or Gewurtztraminer.
Champagne: weβve been trying to figure out our champagne palette, but havenβt quite found our preference. Most recently weβre playing around with Rose and Extra Dry, since Brut seems to be a bit too dry for our liking.
Budget wise, Iβm thinking 250 to 300-ish dollars.
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and input! Happy Holidays!
Any other region is comparatively easy. If I want to get a bottle of Bordeaux for β¬35, β¬70, β¬120 etc, I can quite easily determine who the best producers are at those price points, then check which vintages are available in my country on wine-searcher. Simple!
Whatβs your decision process with Burgundy? There are so many producers, negociants, appellations, crus, fragmented parcels etcβ¦ Not to mention theyβre mostly produced in small quantities, making it hard to actually purchase any bottles you decide youβd like to try!!
Iβd love some guidance here because I love red Burgundy.
Hi Wine,
I am looking for a Year wine for an anniversary (2010) where I could buy one now to enjoy, and the same wine to enjoy 10-years later.
I like all wine equally; at least I havenβt found one I absolutely hate. My original thought was to go with something from Sauternes or a Barolo (I donβt know too much about Barolo but have had a few bottles in the past and enjoyed it).
Price wise, was hoping to keep it under $100 USD if possible. I know the price point could be limiting, but this is what steered me away from Dom. Would cremants de Loire hold up long?
Thank you!
My twin sisters turn 30 next week and id like to get them some 30 year old wine as a gift, any recommendations? thanks
Itβs a Christmas gift. Red wine lover, on the drier, spicier side
Thanks!
I've heard good things about Cimmaron, but had no luck finding any on the East Coast. Anyone know of where it can be found?
Anyone know where I can source kilkerran 16? UK based
Does anyone in the UK know, where can I source some springbank 10/hazelburn 10? Seems easy enough to source longrow (which I have). Not having much joy finding the other two distillery offerings.
I recently had my first pour of one of these vintages last night and very much want my own bottle. I live in PA, and the PLCB sucks for finding speciality spirits like this. Is there a retailer that ships to PA that actually carries these? I know fine drams does but I am trying to avoid the added expense of international shipping and paying in Euros. If anyone has any suggestions Iβd be eternally grateful!
