Can someone shed some light on West Springfield, Springfield, Woodbridge, and Falls Church? My partner and I are interested in moving to NOVA for a potential job in DC. We can't afford areas like Burke (not sure how anyone can given this market) but need a place that's family-friendly and safe. I'd like to be able to go on a stroller jog on my own with my kiddo since I'm a SAHM. I've read so much conflicting information about crime rates for all these towns. I'm used to working in places like Harlem where I didn't feel so safe and living in New England where there is nothingness if you need some context. Please be gentle. Thank you.
We (early 40s with young kids) are looking to relocate from the dumpster fire that is Florida to Virginia. We are trying to decide on either Richmond or Nova. We are both federal workers so more job prospects in nova but we are nervous about the high col and traffic issues. We are thinking maybe the Springfield area for the schools since we have young kids and commute into DC which is where my husband would work. If we went to Richmond we would likely live in glen allen/henrico. I love the idea of having fun things to do during the weekends. Richmond seems less exciting. We also want to ensure we are in a place that aligns to our more liberal views. I am from Philly so having large city amenities nearby would be a plus. My husband is from the country so low key living is what he prefers.
Has anyone lived in both areas and can tell me which they enjoyed more and why?

Looking to move shortly (once we find a house), but it just seems like there isn't much to do in Burke/West Springfield. Our other area is Chantilly and since I live in Centreville, I am quite familiar with the area. Thanks
