A list of puns related to "Wedding Cake House"
I know the general advice for catering your own wedding is that overall, it's bad idea. But after postponing and then finally having to cancel my original wedding, we are starting fresh and planning a new wedding in our current hometown. Because this has messed with our budget and our new wedding is on a much shorter timeline, I've decided to make our own wedding cake.
Again, I know this is often a bad idea, but I feel reasonably confident. I am a decent baker, I do enjoy making cakes and other baked goods. While I am not a masterclass baker, I do think I'm pretty good and do have more hits then I do misses. I will admit however, while I have made nice cakes before I have never made any on the scale of a wedding cake.
When I was talking about making our own cake to my sister, she said that while I am good, it is a little crazy for me to make the wedding cake. She said I'm good at making brownies and cookies and little tea cakes, I'm not "good enough" (as in, I don't have any proper training or experience) to make a wedding cake for a larger scale.
While I was feeling reasonably confident to start practicing and getting the hang of (I've watched heaps of Youtube videos and read articles to learn the principles), it got me thinking. Yes I'm a decent home baker and like to think the stuff I make is good, but it is true I've never done anything like this before on this scale. And I do know that wedding cakes take a lot of time. Am I really that crazy for making my own wedding cake?
EDIT: Thank you all for the advice so far! Just thought I should add, because I forgot to add it in the original post: even though it will be a couple of tiers, it will be simple. This isn't trying to downgrade myself, my original cake for my original wedding was going to simple as well. We didn't want a fancy cake with lost of decorations, we just wanted a simple two-tier cake with buttercream icing and minimal decorations (it was original going to be few fondant flowers put on the first tier). That is what I will be making myself, if it helps.
I love the strain but have never tried from here only Harvest. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!
