A list of puns related to "Vox ATypI classification"
Is this still a considered a sin? A confessionable offense? There is a poor kid asking for advice on the lds sub and the bastards are crucifying him... It breaks my heart to see it happening in real time... A lot of us have been there. If any mods from the lds sub are here shame on you for allowing this bullshit on your so called faithful sub.
So take all this with a grain of salt, but I'm also decently informed.
USFS Fire and Aviation Management (FAM) and DOI Office of Wildland Fire (OWF) are working with OPM on multiple fronts: Pay, Benefits and retirement, etc...
There seems to be some confusion at the upper levels regarding when the classification will be done. I've heard that it won't be done for a year, but now today I'm hearing some news that OPM has sent out emails to Regional Foresters asking for SMEs (subject matter experts) to begin working on classification and that it will be completed by May of 2022.
**Call your regional forester if you want in on the action! /s ** (/s means I'm being sarcastic here)
So if classification is completed by May of 2022, then you are looking at what timeline can the agencies (DOI/USFS) crosswalk their current employees into the new classification? Will that be immediately or will that not be until 2023?
There is a noncommittal assurance that they want to dispense the funds as quickly as possible, but they are also leery of running out of money, especially if the classification comes out lower than what the infrastructure raise will be.
Clear as mud?
Couple of my own thoughts: USFS and DOI were more than happy to disregard the law and drag out classification for a year, but it looks like OPM is sticking to the timeline of 180 days. Who knows which will be better in the long run? Maybe we don't get as comprehensive of a classification, but at least it's done?
I'm now firmly in the camp that we need a national fire service and out of the land management agencies. They've failed on almost every level.
People may also not want to read this much into it, but I personally think it's clear that many folks in DC simply think we don't need a raise, and that we aren't worth the raise. The only reason they are doing this is because they are being forced to do it. There has been a blame game going around between OPM/DOI/USFS as to why this hasn't been done 10-20 years ago. I personally blame USFS and DOI, because if they really wanted to pay us more, they would have just requested special pay rates under current OPM rules. My feeling is that OPM is annoyed this is being mandated against their standard protocols and they blame USFS/DOI for not asking for help and using all the tools at their disposal before it reached this level of crisis.
So to summarize: Classification work to be completed by May 2022. SME groups forming as of today. I'm hopeful abo

I tried to class all characters into a tier just for fun. So i wanna know if im right with how i put them.
a. Celestials: who i considered literally a God or Above God power.
b. Greater Demons: entities who are literally World Threat by their own.
c. Demi gods and guardians: Aspects, divine beings of runaterra, etc.
d. Powerful Beings: Either Magical or non magical characters that got altered by external powers (runes, Vessels, aspects, magic, age, etc) and made them very... well... powerful. But still not at the level of Aspects tiers.
e. Demons/undead/Void creatures: hard to class, but still very threating beings, cross one of them and you are doom.
f. Magical Beasts, Vaastayas and Yordles. = Magical born beings. (i want to make a tier just for them)
g. Magical Born: Literally the Mutants (Marvel) of Runaterra
h. Tech altered: Self explanetory
i. Dolls: Inanimated objects with life thanks to Tech or Magic. or both.
j. People with magical items: they use magic but their body is not altered or powered by it.
k. Skilled People: Just ''normal'' people who excels at their personal skills with training, spiritual- magical techniques etc. But are still mostly like a normal human of Runaterra.
what are your thoughts? :)
P: some characters i didnt know how to classify like Garen or Kayn..
Edit 1: I analyzed and read more about some champions... here is my new classification. There were more changes but still some champions are akward to rank (like Yordles and Voids, Rengar, Shyvana, Trynda, Zed, etc).
I combined Altered characters (tech or magic) with Machine/dolls born out of Tech or magic.
I've been working on a medical classification project with an imbalanced tabular dataset. I have 3 classes, and each class has 44, 16, and 14 rows of data respectively. When I train a random forest classifier, I see that my model is only predicting the dominant class for all test instances most of the time. How can I get around to this? Also, are there any recommendations you can give me for dealing with imbalanced datasets? Thank you
Figured I'd explain it for those who didn't know. I've divided it into two lists: a short quick-reference one and a longer one with some history for those curious.
Note: the long list does have some sarcastic or passive-agressive comments in it. These are intended exclusively to be humorous ribbing and not insults. I apologize in advance to anyone who is upset or offended by them. It was not my intention.
Here's the short list, for those who just want to know what the letters mean:
BB: battleship
CC: battle cruiser (almost never used by the community)
CB: large cruiser (used interchangeably with CC)
CA: heavy cruiser
CL: light cruiser
CV: aircraft carrier
DD: destroyer
SS: submarine
Here's the list with (sarcastic/passive-agressive) explanations, for those curious:
First off, here's a brief explanation of how to read the codes. The first letter indicates the ship type. The second indicates a sub-type. A repeated letter means the ship is "generic," or a "fleet unit." A different letter indicates a more specialized role. There are ship types with a third letter to indicate a sub-sub-type, but those aren't really relevant to the game so I've left them out.
BB: battleship: it's a ship designed to fight battles, armed with the biggest guns and equipped with the thickest armor. They're heavily subdivided internally to contain damage and are exactly as fast as they need to be and no more. Everyone knows what they are. I really don't know what you want here.
CC: battle cruiser: yep, it's CC, not CB. The Lexington class was CC-1-CC-6, not CB-1-CB-6. That means all of you calling the new German line "CBs" are doing it wrong!
As far as what a battle cruiser actually is, it's sort of a "you know it when you see it" kind of thing. They have two main missions: to hunt down enemy cruisers on the high seas that are attacking your shipping lanes; and to scout for the battleships during fleet actions. To accomplish this they needed to be faster than battleships while also being as powerful as possible. They have a different hull form than battleships (longer and narrower), are of the same or greater displacement (see the 28,500 ton HMS Tiger vs the 25,000 ton HMS Iron Duke), have battleship-grade guns but less firepower than a battleship (like the 8 gun Tiger vs the 10 gun Iron Duke), have armor to defend against the guns of enemy battle cruisers (Tiger's armor was good against the 11 inch guns of her German contemporaries), and an in

Since we didn't do a live Q/A and the chat was going 100 mph, here's a place to ask us a few questions. We'll be answering slowly over the next couple days I'd imagine, so leave your thoughts here and we'll hopefully get back to you. Just one thing, I'm not gonna be answering questions about the meanings of songs, not specially at least. Sorry! - Vinny
Thanks again!
I've read in the news, that Titmouse has completely unionized. Making it the first animation studio in the US to do so. So knowing that the people making the show, are working in a progressive environment that treats their workers well, makes me even more exited for it
