Um Kulthum Ala Balad el Mahboub 1935 writing by Ahmed Ramy & Riad Al Sunbati (composer) https://youtu.be/uncqVW_EiJw
Don't get me wrong. I like Fairuz, but I think it's almost blasphemy to compare her to the musical genius that is Umm Kulthum. Fairuz could never sing tarab. While she does hit some high notes, her voice is rather annoying when she sings in low register. Umm Kulthum's vocal range on the other hand was unparalleled. She had the ability to sing as high as the 8th octave at her vocal peak.
Also, in my opinion, the Rahbanis were vastly overrated. They either copied famous composers or came up with these simple melancholic melodies that are easy to play and sing. They pale in comparison to the depth, beauty, and sheer complexity of Abdel Wahab's and Al Sanbati's music.
Compared to like "Inta Omri", "Al Bosta" and "Kifak Inta" sound like they were written and composed by a 6-year old.
Umm Kulthūm Kubrā bt. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib (Arabic: اُمّ کُلثُوم کُبری بنت عَليّ بن اَبيطالِب بن عَبدالمُطَّلِب) is the fourth child of #Imam_Ali (a) and #Lady_Fatima (a), after #Imam_al_Hasan (a), #Imam_al_Husayn (a) and #Zaynab_al_Kubra.
she attended in the #Battle_of_Karbala and her #sermon s have been quoted in Maqtal books.
Historians have different opinions about Umm Kulthum's date of birth. However, both #Shia s and #Sunni s agree that '#imamAli (a) and #ladyFatima (a) had a #daughter called #Umm_Kulthum.
Al-Shaykh al-Mufid has mentioned the names of Imam Ali's (a) children and introduced her as #Zaynab Sughra whose kunya was Umm Kulthum. This Kunya was given to her by the #Prophet (s) because of her similarity to her aunt, Umm Kulthum (the Prophet's (s) daughter).
she married 'Uwn b. Ja'far b. Abi Talib, her cousin.
Sayyidah Zainab as Sughra (the younger Zainab), better known by her agnomen Umm Kulthum, was the younger daughter of the Commander of the faithful Imam Ali (a.s.) and Sayyidah Fatemah az Zahra (a.s.). She was born during the days of her grandfather Prophet Muhammad (S), who cherished her and nurtured her in his blessed lap. Her excellent character, sublime morals, abundant virtue and unparalleled wisdom earned her great fame and she was looked upon as the inheritor of her mother’s chastity second only to her elder sister Sayyidah Zainab al Kubra (a.s.).
She was married to her cousin Muhammad bin Ja’far at Tayyar, who died leaving her a widow. She remained attached and dedicated to her brothers Imam Hasan (a.s.) and Imam Husayn (a.s.). Umm Kulthum (a.s.) accompanied her brother Imam Husayn (a.s.) at Karbala and witnessed the heart-rending episode of his martyrdom and those of the other men-folk of her family. Her speeches and sermons at Kufa and Damascus, reprimanding and condemning the oppressors for their misdeeds, bear witness to her eloquence and valiant character, the legacy of her father Imam Ali (a.s.).
She remained steadfast and forbore patiently the worst ordeals of life alongside her elder sister Sayyidah Zainab al Kubra (the elder Zainab) thus entering the ranks of the most honorable and pious women of the world. The Shi’ah Scholars unanimously agree to her being free from error and fault (Mahfooz anil Khata). While the episode quoted by Non-Shi’ah sources of her alleged marriage with Caliph Umar bin Khattab is nothing but fictitious, and is fabricated with a sole motive to demean the ex

What is everyone's favorite song of her?
