What are your views on Timothy Dalton's portrayal of James Bond? I think Dalton must be regarded as one of the truest forms of Bond. He was serious and intimidating, he was menacing...That's all I could think of. Many even say that his character comes very close to the novels.

So I obviously recognized Eva Green and Timothy Dalton in Penny Dreadful

But I did not realize I had seen Rory Kinnear before until I watched NTTD and recognized him. Of course he does not play as memorable a character in the Bond films as he does in Penny Dreadful. Looking back now I almost feel he was too good for such a bit role.

Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton were probably the best Bond’s

Yep you heard it here in this article. And I'm composing this article piece in the full knowledge that this subreddit is mostly in favour of Daniel Craig, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

Connery is my favourite Bond BTW, but I that doesn't make him immune from criticism. And boyyyy there's a lot of criticism to be aimed at Connery.

But I'm here to share with you Bond fans why Moore and Dalton are better than every other actor who has portrayed 007 on screen. Sooooo without further ado, here we go!

  1. The Dalton era of the Bond franchise gave a better image of the jaded veteran side of Bond. They went too quickly to showing the jaded veteran side of Craig in Skyfall, when Craig's era is a reboot meant to be showing a more inexperienced Bond. How does that make sense to show a jaded veteran three films into your reboot tenure? With Dalton's Bond, you felt like Bond could die any minute, with Craig and Brosnan, they felt like they could get out of any situation with their use of gadgets, especially Brosnan.

  2. Women. Now Moore and Dalfon showed the best chemistry with their co-stars much better than any other actor. Namely Bond-Milovy, Bond-XXX, Bond-Octopussy and Bond-Bouvier. That scene when Amasova mentions Tracy and Bond angry says "Alright you've made your point", was a great piece of acting by Moore. Furthermore, the Bond-Milovy relationship in The Living Daylights was the sweetest relationship aside from Bond and Tracy. I could never see Connery in a romantic moment like the ones Dalton and Moore were in, I nfind it laughable that people suggest that Connery should have done OHMSS, he'd have been awful in it. Can you actually imagine Connery breaking down? Certainly couldn't see Brosnan or Craig doing it. Only candidates for OHMSS instead of Lazenby are Moore and Dalton in my honest opinion. These two would have shown the greatest sense of vulnerability surrounding Tracy's tragedy.

  3. Consistency - Connery is responsible for the worst two performances in Bond canon, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. Good for his first four and then plummeted, to be honest his only great performances were Dr. No and From Russia With Love, Goldfinger he didn't do much and Thunderball he was decent. Brosnan was mediocre in his first two films and was carried greatly by his co-stars, especially Michelle Yeoh and Sean Bean, had two good performances in The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. However, Brosnan never had a showstopper performance li

The Living Daylights is one of the best Bond movies and Timothy Dalton is one of the best James Bonds

It seems like almost everyone thinks Timothy Dalton is the worst of all the James Bonds. I think he's one of the best. He performs fights and action naturally, is just serious enough and just funny enough and just enough of a ladies man. Not over the top in any one area.

And The Living Daylights is one of the best Bond movies of all. It's got great action scenes, plot, gadgets, locales and just the right amount of humor. Nothing outrageous or terribly cheesy and 99% of the movie is believable. Really a great movie.

How would Christopher Lambert have done as James Bond? He was considered as candidate to Roger Moore before Timothy Dalton got free and the Eon Productions chose that guy in an instant over all candidates. Even without the comparisons to fan favorite Dalton, how would Lambert do in a run as Bond?

Since I finished the entire Highlander movie series earlier this Jan, naturally reading up on Connor's actor.

When Roger Moore left his reign as 007, Pierce Brosnan was the immediate choice as replacement as James Bondfollowed undoubtedly by Timothy Dalton as the sure runner-up. However both actors were tied up in other projects and so a 2 years went by without a new Bond movie to follow up. During that period, multiple actors were considered to take up the role including Mel Gibson, Neil Dickson and more.

Among the candidates was Christopher Lambert. However he was disqualified because of his sorta pan-European non-English accent and he could not imitate a convincing British accent.

Assuming he was able to learn to pull a genuine British accent off during filming, how do you think Lambert would have done as 007? I know another big issue is that Lambert was blind and in fact he pulled of plenty of his stunts and fight scenes without any glasses or contact lenses but a lot of care was and rehearsal was taken. They had to craft scenes to avoid normal parkour or even militaryeqsque movements and its obvious in the Highlander movies how much camera footage was cut and edited around to accomodate Lambert's eye handicaps.

I think this would have resulted in Timothy Dalton's movies esp The Living Daylights into a very different breed. I don't even think License To Kill would have been made but a totally different sequel since so much of that movie revolved around Timothy Dalton doing very dangerous stuff including actually running away from a real gas think that exploded (yes the scene in the movie was a real explosion and real equipment being used-Dalton was legitimately running for the hell out of life completely terrified).

So I'm very quite curious how a Lambert take on Bond would have been. Lambert has very tough hills to reach because Dalton is such a fan favorite among the hardcore Bond community (even beating Craig in the eyes of the most diehards). But it be cool to see what Eon Productions would have done to accommodate a blind man in the role of James Bond!

I will add if he can get rid of the vague French-Swiss mixed in with other non-English accent out, the guy can easily do the non-action scenes. Afterall he won a Cesar, France's own Academy Awards, during his run of French films for his role in Subway.
