So there's a video going around of the Wake vs. Duke football game of a girl leaning in to kiss a guy and him not returning the kiss, and looking away. It's on r/therewasanattempt, and currently on r/popular, as well as trending on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter.
That guy is me.
I have gotten texts from high school friends I haven't talked to in years, random college classmates, and my sister and mom who have all seen that video, and I'm gonna take this brief moment of internet fame to explain what actually happened.
Basically, I've been talking to this girl for a while and we just started dating about a week ago. I tell her she should come to the Wake game since we are undefeated and will probably win. She says yes. We go with a group of friends, and we are having a great time. Throughout the game we are flirting, hugging, kissing a little bit, etc. We also do this thing where one of us leans in for a kiss, and the other person leans away, which is an inside joke between the two of us. So, we do our little inside joke thing, and unbeknownst to us, we are being recorded.
After the game, I find I'm on the wake forest old row Instagram page, and within the hour I'm on the official old row page. Then, I'm on TikTok, Twitter, and apparently Reddit too.
Just to clarify a few things:
- She did not get rejected, we were just playing around
- We did not know we were being recorded
- If you want proof, check our TikTok accounts (hhhhggggllll and sandx.lop)
- It was also her first (maybe last?) college football game
Anyway, the internet is full of horrible people and I haven't done any work this weekend, so I'm gonna go do that now. Peace
TL;DR I didn't kiss a girl at a football game and now I'm paying the price.
edit: I'm using a throwaway so people don't read my post history, not to hide my identity, for all those asking.
The NFL accounted for 75 of the top 100, the Olympics accounted for 10 of the top 100, and College Basketball accounted for 2 of the top 100. Live Sports took 94 of the top 100 spots.
This means that College Football was the 3rd most valuable live sports property of 2021, behind the NFL and the Olympics.
The NBA and other live sports properties did not place on the list.

I don't like how it saturates sports in media
This is the shortest timeline of professional football players that played at the same time starting in 1903. What I mean by this is player A's and player B's careers overlapped and player B's and player C's careers overlapped. It goes on like that for the entire timeline.

We hate the fake American "real people" adverts even when they're good, but this campaign is different level cringe.
It's not just that you didn't have the basic respect to change the actors from Americans to English, but the photoshopping of a football match over what is clearly an American football game, the wooden delivery and the frankly embarrassing script all pile up into next level cringe.
You should think about taking it off air because it must be harming the brand, its so fake and cheap feeling!

Hi everyone,
I had my biometric done for the UK standard visitor visa (6 months) on November 2nd. I got a message from VFS the same evening that my application had been forwarded. I have not heard anything on my visa yet, today is the 15th WD (1st WD being November 3rd).
I hear that they release visas in batches, is anyone in the same boat or does anyone have any sort of update/experience with the recent timeline?
I need to travel on December 1 so slightly worried. Appreciate any advice.

Something that has been nagging away at me, since about 1975: I think it was ITV who bought "Planet of the Apes" as a series from CBS in the US - and left it on a cliff-hanger. The 2 main characters were left treading water in a lagoon or something and the sides were too steep, so they couldn't get out. Then either CBS or ITV dropped the series or there was a strike or something - idk, I was about 10 at the time... and I never found out if/how they escaped. Anyone..?
