... keep reading on reddit ➡In the game "Legend of Zelda, Skyward sword", there are entities called timeshift stones, which when activated seamlessly swap out textures, entities and sometimes meshes with ones representing a different time period.
The swapping of entities is quite simple as that is just distance checking and replacing. I'm mostly wondering on how they can blend between textures and show only parts of meshes.
Players enter a room with a closed door and a sword embedded a few inches into a boulder. The sign above the door written in giant says "Only by parting stone from sword shall you proceed"
Then leave your players for hours trying to make hopeless strength rolls to try to pull the sword out, any attempt to remove the sword no matter how clever will fail. Detect magic will reveal that the sword has some kind of enchantment on it.
The key the the puzzle is, players must shatter the boulder the sword is lodged in, once this is done the blade will fall off of the handle leaving it floating in mid air, revealing it to be an immovable rod.
