This show is the first I've really watched that has been shot around here. its so cool seeing the places I grew up around in this show! hope this leads to more to be shot in Charleston. What are yalls thoughts, is this a good look/showing of our city?
The costume team for this show is honestly amazing and thereβs so many signature looks to use as a cosplay, but I just know everyone would be like βwhat are you supposed to be?β
What a brilliantly funny show, I really didnβt expect to like it this much. I know Kevin and Greg have talked about it on Screencast before, but anyone else been watching the show? What do yβall think? I canβt wait for another season!
Iβve been watching it and I love it. Would recommend... Anyone else have thoughts??
A fun plot and great jokes, that feels like more than just a raunch comedy. Still falls short at times with Danny as a actor and only really playing what seems to be himself (he is hilarious though).
Bonus: John Goodman is a national treasure.
The Righteous Gemstones is Danny McBride's new show on HBO about a family of corrupt televangelists/megachurch owners, and holy shit, is it on the nose, to the point I'd put a trigger warning on it if you also were raised in an abusive evangelical background. Here's a fantastic major spoiler-free analysis of the first episode that shows how much they did their research. There were scenes that were downright eerie to me for how familiar they were, like the megachurch "hip" Christian rock band or getting slapped in the face by a parent. This show so far is sort of therapeutic for me and I definitely recommend checking it out if you're willing to watch the uncomfortable reality you've probably experienced. Also, it's a Danny McBride show so the plot is absolutely wild.
Here's a link to our take on the show. You can also see show notes here.
"Danny McBride, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, John Goodman, and a guy playing a keytar. The Righteous Gemstones is heaven.
It's over-the-top and ridiculous and exaggerated, and a hundred percent accurate."
