I never wanted to watch it, because I thought its a reglar dumb cringe comedy with an asshole character, and some Will Ferrell dick jokes on top of it.
And sometimes it is that technically, but it's never just that. It has great writing and great scenes and set ups, great characters, amazing guest stars, lots of heart and most importantly: self awareness to make all of it work. And it never just feels like you're watching a different take on a standard scene. There's always something special, that makes it distinctively EB&D.
Especially from the second season onwards, the show really surprised me like I don't think any show has before. I totally didn't expect to fall in love with it. Looked it up after I watched the finale and I'm not surprised it sits on a 91% RT average. What a ride!
Started watching Vice Principals this morning, and looking forward to seeing the Righteous Gemstones after that. I heard that these shows are also amazing, and made by the same people too.
But man, EB&D... I think I'm a fan now.
