The day before my ex put him down I went over while he was at work (still have a key) and fed my dog of 12 years a creamsicle, then I found some ice cream in the freezer so I fed him some of that and then we cuddled while we said good bye.

My sweet boy has been going downhill pretty rapidly the past few weeks. At nearly 13, I guess that's to be expected. Here's hoping the vet visit tomorrow brings some relief from his pain! For those of you who have had to say good bye to your bull terriers, how old were they when they passed away?

I've read enough "edgy" allegedly "deconstructionist" cynical stories in which expies of the Pevensies or Milo end up permanently miserable or mad for having spent time in a portal fantasy land.
I'd love to read some positive ways of looking at it, ideas about how their lives could continue to be excellent lives even knowing they might never again see Narnia or the Unicorn or wherever.

Yesterday I had to make the decision to say good-bye to my best friend of 15 years
I was going to post a wall of text, but I just keep crying each time. I had to put my dog down of 15 years yesterday. She wasn't dying of cancer or dying of anything. She was just old and she told me it was time. Like I literally took her out to go potty on Sunday before bed and the way she couldn't really hold herself up and how she looked confused at where she was told me that it was time. I held her as she passed. I felt her last breath and looked into her eyes as they closed for the final time. I didn't care for the waiting room full of people, I screamed when I cried for her. She was my baby, my princess, my Bub Bub, my longest and bestest friend. She was there with me through it all. I'm struggling with not having her at my hip anymore. Even with her old age, she was always beside me. Even right now at my desk, I would feel her bump her booty against my chair as she laid down, her way of saying "Hey, I'm here". I've caught myself multiple times to not look for her. Even with 4 cats, the house is quiet. I'm waiting for this nightmare to end....
I'll be picking her remains up tomorrow or Thursday and I really want to get the staff at the clinic something. Maybe some cookies. Especially the doctor. As a thank you from her and from me for helping us.

I saw someone post a while back about the Cajun CafΓ© on the Bayou moving off the bayou and it saddens me so. This quirky old building will be missed and the official date of closing is August 18th. Thought I'd share with you all how long there is left to enjoy real cajun food on the Cross Bayou.
