A list of puns related to "The Papercut Chronicles II"
Hey all, I'm a huge GCH fan. I have a rare, copy of the unmixed version of Papercut Chronicles. Some of the tracks are a little different, plus there's two that don't appear on the final version. I'm going to upload the whole album soon but here's "Obrigado."

As per your voting request, Rand will be the focus of this year's quest.
Picture this, December 24th, year [CURRENT IN TOS]. Snow crests on trees and lies upon the ground near the Shack, with more white happiness slowly falling down towards the mortal realm, signalling glad tidings and cheers with friends and family abound. But for Randizer, this wouldn't be as such. This is the story of how you showed a man to not let life get him down.
You notice footprints in the ground, they appear large, like that of a monster. The direction they head in becomes more snowy, as the snowfall becomes thicker.
(This quest is set up so anyone who is or isn't a friend of Randizer can have a go, no discrimination here.)

Pop! OS has been in the news lately because of Linus breaking his system by installing steam and because the GNOME devs felt they needed to complain about the System76 devs.
There is a larger underlying issue at play here. The success of linux on the desktop is very much linked to Canonical and their famous Ubuntu project. A project which worked very hard on making Debian more user-friendly and on lowering the threshold of linux in general. Canonical did great things in that respect, but they had a clear upper limit of the amount of polish they would provide.
One of the best sub projects Canonical did for the community was 6 years ago: the one hundred papercuts mission (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/One%20Hundred%20Papercuts/Mission). In which they supported and organized the community in solving small and smaller bugs which kept breaking the user experience.
IMO papercuts sprints should be an annual event where the whole community comes together
But Canonical also (for a long time) clearly didn't focus on a more unified aesthetic or more convenience for the user. This is where then distros like Linux Mint and Elementary (among others) stepped in to push the limits of polish further. And while Linux Mint (maybe boringly) replicated something akin to the windows experience, Elementary is clearly going for a MacOS X-style UX. Mint's stability is very good, Elementary looks much nicer, but is buggy.
Interestingly, in all of these distros, GNOME has been replaced or modified. I remember back when GNOME 3 was released and it was barely usable at all. Nowadays, GNOME is a good base to work with, but stuff like the extension system or semantic search remain pretty underwhelming. And I haven't even mentioned things like Solus' Budgie DE.
And I feel that this pretty much describes the key issue which keeps holding linux on the desktop back: you can die by papercuts, and you can be turned off by a low level of polish, but sometimes polish can't cover up papercuts, and sometimes the lack of polish is a deep papercut. You can have a stable base system and a functional DE, and yet in combination of these two, you produce many papercuts and just applying more polish does not solve all of this (looking at you, Elementary).
One of the most important reduction of papercuts in Ubuntu was the introduction of the recovery menu you could boot into. But it is crazy to think that this still basically is the state of affair

You can read it here:
The Chronicle of the Search for the Missing Boy II
If you haven't read part 1...there is a translation of it somewhere, but I may end up doing it myself soon.
Sorry if it's been discussed before. I just don't understand how she would miss something so huge. I know none of her visions are concrete, and things are always changing, but I just feel like that was kinda big to not see anything.
With a lot of encouragement from this sub I began dipping my toes into older Ys games starting from Ys 1+2 Chronicles+. This post will have my thoughts on the first part.
Disclaimer: I played on normal and used a guide. Without it there were several places I'd have just given up.
The game is old, it shows but despite that I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. If you're thinking of disregarding it just because it's old, then please reconsider because I had my mind changed on older games because of this. A couple of bosses can be unfair, gimmicky, and "RNGy" but hey, guides and internet exists!
The bump combat system was new but easy to learn and I had to really learn it in the latter parts of the game. The music is phenomenal as always, so nothing new about that. The game does a decent job of guiding/nudging you towards your next destination which was a welcome surprise.
Now, bosses, woo boy, the bosses were either piss easy or keyboard mashing difficult. The bat boss had me pulling my hair out till I learned that it is somehow tied to framerate/resolution. I lowered the resolution and beat it in two tries. Dark Fact (fuck him and fuck his area denial boss fight) had two things I hate in boss fights - Area denial and a weird gimmick which was never explained.
The game clearly states that only cleria weapons could damage Dark Fact, so I equipped my silver sword and went to town on him, well tried to at least. What the game does not tell you is, equipping silver armor and shield gives some sort of damage reduction. With those on, the boss became pretty manageable. I will never play it on harder difficulties though, no sir.
Another one of my gripes is why the heck does the level cap 10, I reached it before the bat boss. I was slightly frustrated going though the rest of the game killing enemies but not getting any exp. Also why do healing potions exist if you cannot use them in difficult boss fights? Hopefully that is not the case for the second game.
All in all, I'm glad I followed everyone's advice and played this. On to Ys II.
P.S. Please tell me there are no bat bosses or area denial bosses in Ys 2...
