TIL that on the night of September 10th, 2001, an artist by the name Monika Bravo filmed 7 hours of footage of a thunderstorm from the 91st floor of the WTC North Tower. She took the raw footage home with her that night. The next morning, both towers collapsed. The video she edited is found here:

Remember the animated film When The Wind Blows?
It's from the 80s and features an elderly couple with a touching faith in the government, who follow advice about what to do in the event of a nuclear war. They imagine it will be a bit like WWII, until their gums start bleeding and they start losing hair.
It's a very sad film and I can't help but draw parallels.

Typhoon Tisoy is still a category 3 with one minute winds of approximately 195km/h. As of 9:00 am it is on the island of Marinduque. It is expexted to travel westwards and make landfall on the north side of Mindoro. More info in the comments.

[TOMT] [MOVIE] Movie about stopping winter from taking over involving a sidekick with an acorn on his head and the North wind at some point
Literally this is driving me insane and my sister thinks I dreamed it. No idea of the timeframe but probably early 2000s.
It was about this character going to travel to stop winter from taking over (I think? I barely remember it) and he has this sidekick who was a bird with an acorn on his head or something.
There was one scene with a clock tower (?) and a key.
At one point near the end the character was in a bubble and the North wind blew him where he needed to go!
There was also this ice themed antagonist with like weird henchmen
Please god help me this is giving me grey hair

North by Northwest is the best Bond film that isnβt a Bond film
I absolutely love this film for all the reasons I love James Bond novels/movies. Action/chase scenes are top notch, chemistry between the lead actor and female love interest is strong, and the witty back and forth between characters.
You can certainly see how much influence this had on early Bond films and why there was interest in Cary Grant being James Bond.
I know this an Alfred Hitchcock film and any film enthusiast has probably watched it already, but if you havenβt, give it a watch. Also, the train scene in North By Northwest rivals the train scene in Casino Royale.

The scene in Drive (2011) where the protagonist kills a hitman in an elevator wasn't in the script. Ryan Gosling just flew into an unprovoked psychotic rage and murdered a cast member on set. Director Nicolas Winding Refn's decision to include the scene in the film was actually a cry for help

"Wind Across the Everglades" (1958) is a terrific film about the history of early Florida. Anyone seen it?
Filmed entirely on location, Wind Across the Everglades was a film I recently stumbled upon and really enjoyed.
Based on true events, the film was filmed in the very inhospitable South Florida Everglades. Featuring a direct descendant of Seminole Chief Osceola as the Native American Guide.
A band of outlaw bird poachers who live deep in the Glades are pursued by an Audubon game warden while clashing with the South Florida land developers.
The producers wanted authenticity and it shows. Many native Floridians (non actors) were used for roles and it really is a fantastic film.
The director was fired during filming, after weeks of odd behavior seemingly related to heroin and drug use. The film was finished by the producers. This is evident during the last third of the film but I feel it adds to the intrigue of the story.
As a native Floridian, I very much appreciated a look back into the history of our state and to see how life was like before developers took over.
Mixed in with the film are some utterly gorgeous documentary style shots of the animals of the Florida Everglades in pristine condition.
If anyone else has seen this film, I would love to discuss it with you and hear your thoughts!

The Wind 2019, recommending the film.
I found The Wind to be very intense. Unsettling. Best watched in the dark due to how it's shot/lighting. It's not a relaxing film. Unnerving, emotion evoking. The film seemed very authentic to the time period. I give it about a 7/10. I rarely rate a film that highly.
