A list of puns related to "The New Perspective"
Klothys, the red-green god, confused a lot of people at first because being the "God of Destiny" didn't sound consistent with Gruul, the red-green guild. After some time and some amount of discussion, I think we all reached the conclusion that she fit as red and green, just with some switcheroo compared to Gruul.
Gruul defies social structure (red goal) and uses brute force to achieve its goal (green method).
Klothys upholds the natural law (green goal) with intense passion and fury (red method).
This made me think about the guilds on Ravnica and how they are each mostly defined by having one color as the goal and the other color as the method. Orzhov wants to gain power (black goal) and does so by using a religious institution (white method); Selesnya wants to achieve harmony with nature (green goal) and does so by using the power of a collective society (white method).
If we switch the colors around, we can have new perspectives on the color pairs that are different from the Ravnican guilds.
For example, switch Orzhov and we could get a group that wants its rules to be absolute (white goal) and forces others using ruthless means (black method). Switch Izzet and we can have a group that cleverly sabotages social structure (red goal, blue method).
Of course, not every guild fits nicely into this framework, but I think this works for most of them.
While Ravnica has done a good job giving personalities to the color pairs, in a sense it has also limited our view on what each pair can be, as evident by the initial confusion on how Klothys could be red-green. I just thought this would be a cool area to explore and expand the perspectives on color pairs, which could result in cool gameplay ramifications.
edit: for clarification, when I say I grew up quite privileged, I mean that I grew up mid-upper class and separately, being white comes with its own privilege, although some people in the comments have tried to tell me white privilege isnβt a thing.
So the new XFL is officially here, and coming from a 7 year NFL vet; it's just what the doctor ordered! A new league to breathe fresh air into the market of professional football in a way that many of us didn't see coming! My name is Uche Nwaneri, I played 7 years in the NFL. In my time in the league I saw many players come and go. Many who were only able to enjoy a brief flash of longevity in a league that only sees the average player last just under 3 seasons as a pro. For many, they indeed did have the skill to be labeled a professional, yet they were unable to hold on to that life long dream of NFL football for longer than what amounts to having a cup of coffee within the league. It has been LONG overdue that we as players and fans had the opportunity to embrace a league that delivers legitimately good, solid, football action. In my new life as an online content creator, I found myself wondering what the days would consist of following the end of the NFL season. Once the climax of the league year passed, and a Super Bowl champion was crowned. What then? The obligatory months long wait before we see players put the pads back on and start the cycle of hype all over again? Countless draft boards and off the cuff guesses at how teams will perform once September rolls back around again? Not something to really look forward to, I know. The AAF was a dud. A hastily put together mashup of wanna be teams with wanna be ambitions that crumbled unceremoniously under it's own weight in what seemed like no time at all. Another league with hefty promises that floundered out it a whimper. Kinda like that old XFL that was hyped as bigger, stronger, and more brutal than your grandpa's NFL. Novel wastes of time right?
But all of that has now changed. The new and very much improved XFL launched last weekend, and I gotta say; I was thoroughly pleased with what I saw. Rules that actually evolved the sport. The Kickoff is back, and its better than ever! Go for 1, 2, or even 3 points after a TD??? I can dig it! On field interaction that gives the fan a level of access the NFL has been too old and stuck in its way to even consider? YES PLEASE! Referee transparency, that lets the fan understand how in the hell they decided to overturn or let stand crucial plays in between the lines? Its ABOUT TIME. The XFL has done something the NFL didn't have the courage to do-show the fans their secrets. And with the product of on field action matching the level of innovation the league is

Iβve been playing for about a month now and I am level 10 now and I am starting to get my confidence, wrapping my head around all of the game mechanics and economics and this is my thought on that whole ammo availability complaint..
You were so used to having top tier gear while fighting scavs and lower tier players that it became nothing more than a run through so you got lazy. You got so lazy that you forgot how difficult this game is INTENDED to be and now that you have to run lower tier gear, your aggressive play style that you were used to does not work nearly as good anymore. Iβm not trying to bash anyone but trying to open the eyes of those that are complaining because I love this game and I want everyone else to enjoy it as much as I do... Slow down and take your time!
Starting first. I haven't played it yet in a regular session. Watched a youtube a little. It was going a little slower, but they checked a lot of rules on the spot. Most likely until they learn the rules.
People say the new 3 action mechanic is easier than the previous. I think the original move/significant mechanic was pretty simple (clarification - I've used the DnD one here), but since they started adding various other actions (reaction, surge, bonus action, full action) this added to the complexity. So it can be considered an improvement in that regard.
The whole game is based around character customization. Everything is a choice. This, perhaps, is the biggest strength of the game, to the people who like the previous edition for it. A con about this, as in similar games, is that creating NPCs will take time. The cool stuff is that the GM can create some really niche ones.
The over 10, under 10 (the new crit mechanic) will take a little bit more cognitive load. Not sure how much that is. In games like Traveller, which we played extensively, when someone takes an automatic weapon, the constant calculation of the result over the target number starts to take time. Perhaps after a few sessions, the players will intuit if a number is 10 higher or lower without slowdown.
They've standardized the skills values with attacks, spell DC, saves, AC. There are some minor exceptions but I think it's a good direction compared to the previous edition.
There are a lot exceptions in the feats. And the game is almost entirely made of feats. By exception I mean - the basic game rules work in certain ways. Feats change this, either changing modifiers, or amounts, or reducing penalties, or alternative use, etc... This means that a player has to learn the rules, so they know the value of a certain feat.
They've made the weapons more interesting, although some weapon trait names can lead to confusion initially (e.g. volley). Better in traits than reading the description. A lot of games do this now.
Modifiers to checks are standardized as well. I think the most extreme now is +/- 4. They are under 4 categories. This is for game balance reasons (avoid stacking), but it will take more time to figure out which is what, do they stack. It's probably a little easier compared to the previous edition, where they were more categories.
Numbers grow higher with levels due to the proficiency mechanic. Some people are slower doing the same mathematical adding process with bigger nu

On August 20th, 2005, Japanese Smash player Tetsuhisa "RAIN" Kosaka placed 5th at the legendary Jack Garden Tournament for Melee, the tourney where Ken, the King of Smash, prevailed over Japan's best talent for the first time. Across the Pacific Ocean, 7-month-old Prodigy was probably asleep in a crib somewhere.
On February 2nd, 2019, Prodigy eliminated RAIN at 49th place in Ultimate at Genesis 6, kickstarting a losers run that would take him to top 16.
Huh.
So, ever since New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (that's a lot, I'll just say NSMBUD) was released, a lot of people have been giving it a lot of shit for being a port (not inherently a bad thing), being full price $60, and being "bland".
Here's my take on it from someone who hasn't played a 2D Side scrolling Mario Game since World: It is a celebration of 2D Mario as a whole, as well with the best mechanics that have been seen in the series to date.
Do I think it's worth $60 if you have never played a New Super Mario Bros Game? Honestly yes. It is packed with tons to do, and if you love 2D Mario, then it's definitely worth it.
Do I think it's worth it if you played it before? No. It's definitely just a port for those who missed out. But, many people did miss out on this amazing game, so the vocal minority shouldn't deter everyone away like I have been seeing lately. It's honestly gone from "It's a lazy switch port" to "This is a shitty super mario bros game", which isn't true. It has some of the best Mechanics to date. Nintendo know's what they are doing at this point, as it's immensely polished.
That's all I have to say.
South Korea, once a war-torn country, poorer than most African nations, is today one of the wealthiest nations in the world. Although there was a time when it was ruled by a military junta, after several years of struggle and protests, South Korea is today a thriving liberal democracy. Writings of the French enlightenment and American emancipation are widely taught at universities and books about world history (Yuval Harari, Jared Diamond, Peter Frankopan, etc) and geopolitics (George Friedman, Peter Zeihan, etc) are widely popular. Big companies like Samsung and Hyundai are national champions and all of the country, including the most remote areas, is fully covered with fast-speed WiFi. In short, South Korea is the most successful offspring of the post-WW2 settlement.
However, South Korea is surrounded by the greatest powers in the world: China, Russia, Japan and of course North Korea (although nobody would call NK a great power)*. It is located in the worst possible geopolitical location and it must confront a very hard reality. China aims to recover its hegemony over East Asia, Japan aims to curtail South Korea's rise and has difficulties in acknowledging and expressing remorse over its past deeds, North Korea is always behaving as a spoiled kid and Russia is distant and far-away (and cooperates with China in a number of cases). In such precarious a situation, South Korea's only reliable ally is the United States and this has served well for 70 years already.
Now, despite Trump's aggressiveness and lunacy, South Korea enjoys a superb and privileged relationship with the US. That is because our interests are aligned. Trump wants to get diplomatic scores in NK and South Korea wants to normalize relations with NK to open up trade. Currently, South Korea is pursuing a very assertive economic diplomacy with a number of key partners. In February, there was a summit with UAE and we signed a number of agreements to develop infrastructure. In June, there was a summit with MBS of Saudi Arabia and we signed agreements to secure oil and further investment. This July, we had a summit with Israel and we agreed to deepen cooperation in the sector of A.I. In sum, South Korea has had high level meetings with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Israel thereby reducing its dependence on Iranian oil or Iranian markets.
Furthermore, South Korea is discussing with the US for a possible expedition to the strait of Hormuz and the likelihood of agreement is very high. Even Kor

People get used to something and when change comes it throws them off their comfort zone. Now I never worked on games UI but I can see this being worse on them since the brain it's trying to adapt while at the same time it's juggling with the actual gaming part of the experience.
Having said that I like the new interface, it's an obvious improvement, with more information shown on the screen while keeping the board as the main focus. Board screen is even bigger now. Still I do think the health and mana bar definitely need some improvements, they are a little confusing.
I really feel for the developers of this game, they seemed very excited about the UI and I can see why, there's improvements on most known UI/UX aspects and I think is one of the biggest updates for this patch.
TL;DR: people are creatures of habit and changes always trigger unconformity at first. Give it a few days and everything will be alright. Calm down bros.
Their Triple-A team is moving to Wichita in 2020, and yet, they drew nearly the same number of fans on this Tuesday night as their MLB affiliate.
I've lurked on this sub for a few days now and I get the sense that you guys are very disappointed with how unfaithful to the books the new Netflix show has been in regards to character focus and plot and I want to say that I feel your pain. As a Star Wars fan, I've felt something similar to how the Sequel Trilogy has twisted the original story of the first six movies so I know what it's like to be an ardent fan of some piece of media only to see it bastardized by outside forces in order to make it more palatable and "modern" for a larger audience.
However, Netflix's The Witcher has introduced me to a brand new world of characters and lore that before I only knew of tangentially from a couple of Witcher 3 game cinematics such as "A Night to Remember" and "The Trail" and I think that's true for literally tens of millions of people across the world and more people are discovering the books to read. It still seems that the core of the books is intact as well. Geralt is clearly the main character with whatever's going with Ciri being the main plot, the destiny bond referenced over and over again by notable characters is explicitly said to be between Geralt and Ciri with Yennefer being a very strong tertiary character. The mythology of how Witchers are made, references to the Wolf School, Conjunction of the Spheres, and so on are all still there.
I guess my point is that your feelings of disappointment are valid, but at least take heart that your fandom has grown by millions in just one month!
Hoping this isn't *too* off topic, so here goes:
So, when I first started watching 90 Day Fiance, I of course found it incredibly entertaining! What crazy people! And as a miserable grad student, I could comfort myself and watch thinking, "Look at these morons! As terrible and as awful things are right now, at least I'm not like THESE morons, what morons! They're blind! How can you know they were 'THE ONE' after such a short amount of time, AND a language barrier?!" (Any cast members lurking here, I say 'morons' with all the affection in the world.)
But then a few episodes in, it finally hit me: "...wait... *I'M* the product of two morons."
My father was an immigrant from Poland, and after a few years living in the states, he went to Mexico on vacation. There, my mom was working at the front desk of the hotel he was staying at. He saw her, asked her out, and my mom's eyes lit up as she threw herself over the desk, grabbed on to my dad's leg and said "Gringo, I want your bebitos y dinero!"
...This was my father's version of the story. In reality she rejected him -- BUT, normally the men who asked my mom out were very persistent and annoying so when my dad took the rejection respectfully and in good stride, my mom changed her mind and they went out later that night. Three days later, my dad proposed and my mom said yes!
He had to go back to the states, but he left her his watch as a promise that they'd be together. Two months later, they got married in NY and now here I am writing this post. 35 years of marriage and 4 kids later, I'd say not bad.
I always knew that was a crazy thing they did, but watching 90 Day Fiance gave me a new perspective on the issues my parents must have faced but likely didn't talk to us about much. I'm sure my mom faced accusations of just wanting a green card. I'm sure my mom felt lonely being one of very few hispanic people in the neighborhood (people assumed she was the nanny when walking around with us gringo babies). I'm sure that even though they both spoke English, they had issues in communication. I really wonder how my parents would have been depicted on this show. But since that isn't going to happen, I like that it's given me a new appreciation for how they got together and for how I came into existence.
Any other products of two morons on this subreddit?
#Introduction My whole life, Iβve loved Metallica. They are the only metal band where I truly enjoy every single album, and almost every single song. That is, until my discovery of a7x a few months ago. They have quickly rivaled Metallica for me as my favorite band. I got into them through the albums Nightmare and HTTK, and branched our to the rest slowly, until I got to the stage. #the stage This was one of my least favorites upon first listen. The songs were just so wierd, hard for me to get into. Even the song βthe stageβ didnβt quite get me. It was the most bearable, so it went on my playlist. And, after about 20 listens, it became one of my favorite songs. EVER. I canβt even believe how much this thing grew on me! The moment the violent drumming, raw singing, and mildly complex lyrics became a normal thing to me, it viewed the song as nothing less than a masterpiece. It even reminds me of my beloved Metallica: the part where it slows down reminds me of a better executed Master of Puppets slow down. The ending reminds me of the ending to βto live is to dieβ. Not only does it contain the familiar elements of Metallica that I love so much, but also something totally new; and better. Iβve explored countless other bands and never got this satisfaction. #Vinyl I loved the title song so much, I decided it was time to buy the album. I got my copy of the stage in vinyl, and have listened to it in order countless times. I love it, the whole dang thing grew on me, just as the title song did! There are still lows; for me they are creating god and simulation. However, there is so much that grew on me immensely, namely: paradigm, higher, Roman sky, exist, and to an extend sunny disposition and Fermi paradox. Roman sky feels like Metallicaβs nothing else matters; but BETTER. Of course, there are many Metallica power ballads I find more enjoyable, namely fade to black, but keep in mind this stuff just gets better with every listen. Donβt forget exist; itβs 15 minutes and I enjoy every second of it. For some reason βHigherβ gives me a vibe of museβs older music; but thatβs probably just me and I canβt pinpoint why. There is so much to love! #conclusion Coming from Metallica, a7x was a pleasant surprise. Although I initially didnβt like the stage, the album quickly became possible my favorite album of all time, even topping some of my favorites Iβve been listening to my whole life. Please recognize these are all my opinions, and be civil in the comments. My final state

I mean that [edit: the post title]. I'm primarily to blame for 90% of our stress (I haven't had a regular job in over a year and...I haven't told my family, you know, cuz reasons)...so yeah, I suck and I know it. But last night brought me to my breaking point and based on someone else's suggestion, I tried to write down every hurtful thing she said.
The thing is, every hurtful thing is true (that's why I'm the justnoso). Here we go though :
> I want to have a baby but if you have to get a job.if you donβt get a job Iβll divorce you
> I feel like we canβt move forward until you get a job
> Itβs nice of a you not to find a job in a year
> You are kind of a dead beat right now and I hate it
> Iβm totally supporting you right now
> Youβre the weirdo
> Youβre the problem
> You have to believe Iβd find a job faster than you
> Your excuses are insane
> You are not being an adult right now
> Privacy is not losing your job
> If we canβt get over this, please just move in with your dad
> I own everything
I promise I wasnβt egging her on or arguing during it - although disrespectful, I wasnβt replying because I was trying to write down what she had just said.
The point I want to make has been made before... https://i.imgur.com/40Idny0_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium
I hope this rambling perspective has been helpful. Iβll answer questions as honestly as I can.
I don't have many friends but the ones I have absolutely refused to play this game because of all the bugs and the poor performance. Sadly the new quest line requires a teammate to be completed. So I managed to talk my friend into joining for few minutes, just so I can revive her and get my backpack. Here is what happened :
In order to complete the quest and get the backpack you need to earn 3 Tadpoll(?) badges (out of 8 i think) and to revive a teammate. It doesn't matter which ones so I figured out the easiest ones should be Athlete badge, Archery badge and Swimming badge.
The Archery and Athlete are pretty easy until you get to the exams (the ones you do on the terminal). As a person living in Europe I know nothing about Baseball or American presidents, so answering the questions from the Athlete exam was impossible without the help of Wikipedia. Felt like being in school rather than playing a game but anyway I buckled up and finished the exams. Almost done, the only thing left was to revive a friend. Sound easy, right? Not so much...
In conclusion :
Hai!
As someone who gets visually overwhelmed by stuff, for me and many others, the new discord UI update makes it near unusable. While scrolling or even moving my mouse in discord, the constantly changing darker selection makes me incredibly panicky and hurts my head like hell. It really feels like they didn't give this as much thought as they should have.
I know like everyone is saying this but like please give us the option to not have it select every message as you mouse over it as it's incredible disorienting.
