The bad history
A widely spread meme shows a picture of the 1930s cartoon character Betty Boop, and a photo of a woman looking very similar. There are several forms of this meme.
The meme typically claims the woman in the photo is Esther Jones, a famous black performer whose image was apparently unethically exploited when cartoonistΒ Max Fleischer invented the cartoon character Betty Boop, based on Jones' image and singing style. The meme claims Esther Jones spent years unsuccessfully trying to win back her legal rights to the image. Another case of a talented black woman exploited by the white entertainment industry.
Various videos and websites make the same claim, sometimes with different photos.

But this isn't true
Firstly, the woman in the photo at right is not Esther Jones. It's a photo of Ukranian modelΒ Model Oyla (ΠΠΎΠ΄Π΅Π»Ρ ΠΠ»Ρ), in 2008,Β dressed as Betty Boop. [1] Secondly, Esther Jones never claimed she was the original inspiration for the Betty Boop character, and never showed any interest in claiming any rights to it. Thirdly, the Betty Boop character was originally based on a French poodle not on Jones. The character first appeared as a white woman with a long poodle like face, and drooping ears, and only later developing into a normal looking woman. [2]
But there's a twist
It was not Esther Jones, but a white woman, Helen Kane, who sued Fleischer and his studio for US$250,000 for copying her visual appearance, including hair style, dress, makeup, and voice, as well as the "boop a doop" catchphrase she used while singing. [3] However, Fleischer completely denied the Betty Boop character had been based on Kane.
But there's another twist
At trial, Fleischer's lawyer claimed Kane herself had taken the phrase "boop a doop" and her sin

Even worse, the new law allows women and those who assist in obtaining abortion to be sued in court.
Every entertainer, every corporation, every sports team, etc. should cancel their planned projects and events in Texas.
Texas wants to oppress women?
Time to oppress Texas.
Boycott texas.
Sometimes you go to a movie and get stuck with people who do counter lines for each and every f'ing scene. Some people are genuinely funny and the movie screenplay would also accommodate it in a strange way, so your movie experience is not affected but actually improved.
But that isn't the case always and I got stuck with a group of morons(some college kids) who occupied the row behind. Vijay tv ku kuduka vendiya mokka counter lam potu savadichtanunga. I was so irritated that I wanted to leave within the first 10 mins. Somehow sat through because I've been waiting for spiderman a long time and I wasn't ready to leave because of some assholes. I was so raged that I gave serious thought to mashing up his face while the movie was going but calmed myself and once the movie was over, gave him a piece of my mind. It was a heated discussion but didn't escalate into a fight but I was so ready cuz I've hearing his bullshit for the past 2.5hr spoiling so many good scenes. I'm pretty sure he would think about opening his mouth in movies the next time. Hence this rant.
What would you do if you were in this situation. How do you handle it?
I couldnβt catch the OX challenges daily this time, so Iβm slowly working through the backlog. Just finished watching the day 6 challenge.
As usual, Lukeβs penchant for elaborate plans and impatience with GTA Online got in his way of victory. But I also noticed something else. Maybe a bit of hubris was present, but whenever Luke got ahead, he kind of waited for Ellen to catch up (he had βmalicious intentβ of course). While it was frustrating to see him messing around when he had a clear lead, I did appreciate how he low-key thinks of the fun factor of the video. It's as if he sabotaged himself for the sake of fun content. Maybe it's subconscious.
Ellen, on the other hand, simply followed the instructions of the challenge - Ride a bike to fake Chiliad. Her journey didnβt involve unnecessary risks or galaxy-brain schemes. But at the same time, it was not exciting. Just someone carefully riding a bike uphill. The entertainment value almost exclusively came from Lukeβs antics.
Donβt get me wrong, Ellen is a good content creator. I still randomly laugh remembering her high concept Egg Room in Animal Crossing. But in challenges like this, her competitive nature sometimes overtakes (pun intended) everything else. Iβve observed this in some online streams too, where the rest of the gang is chatting away and bickering, Ellen is silently concentrating on the task (Gang Beasts comes to mind). Again, nothing inherently wrong with that. Just not as entertaining as Luke cursing GTA for the lack of vehicles in a remote mountainous region.
Off the top of my head, No Doubt / Gwen Stefani & Johnny Sack. Their views on other people speaking could not be more different.
Period.

Give me breathless Kenny Omega promos any day of the week.
i felt really empty after seing the black scren, but now i'm getting back on seing things i missed before a second rerun. anyway, there was this comedian who tony's people used when that lawyer wouldn't give tony his money back. i think that comedian was popular in that era (i am not from US) because he was used for a couple of times when chrecters watch the TV. who is that guy?
If it's anything like Don Jr's memoir, tRump will have to buy his book in bulk to register any sell transactions. Who would be STUPID enough to read a book with such fiction, it would be hard to get past the book jacket before feeling something coming back up your throat ?

Seems like every second place I go to that was on the entertainer for the last few years is no longer on it. Or is that just me?
In case you didnβt see it, hereβs the notice from the devs posted on Discord yesterday:
> π’ Hey @everyone , sorry for the ping! This is a heads-up that early bird discount for both Obsidian Sync and Obsidian Publish will end on September 30, 2021. > > If you already purchased either Sync or Publish with early bird pricing (monthly or yearly), this lifetime discount will be locked in for your account. > > Please note that Sync and Publish are separate in terms of early bird discount. Purchasing Sync only gives your account discount on Sync but not Publish, and vice versa. > > We waited a bit to end the early bird discount in order to accommodate back-to-school season, so if Obsidian helps with your studies, right now would be a good time to grab either services. We're a small team who depends on people like you to spread the word to grow, so please please recommend Obsidian to your classmates and peers if you find helpful, thank you so much! π >
