A list of puns related to "The Cellar Door Sessions 1970"
Borrowed this from the library. Just...wow. Where do I go next? Any recommendations for other artistes I might enjoy if I enjoyed this? For the record I have CD's A Kind of Blue, Bitch's Brew, Dark Magus and Panagea. I'm old school, CD's played through a proper hi fi system. None of your spotify deezer nonsense.
I'd also appreciate any links to articles or written materials where I can learn a bit more about jazz / jazz fusion although I understand the point is not to analyse but to feel and experience this music.
Many thanks for sharing your recommendations...
Having silently placed a slice of bread on the floor, the officer locked the door behind him once again.
So the last time I bought plants online, I found out I grossly overpaid and received sickly plants infected with gnats. Took me 8 months to get rid of the gnats (sticky pads, diatomaceous earth, neem oil, the works) and I still see a gnat every now and then!
I was able to nurse one plant back to health but lost but found a similar plant for 1/4 the price at Trader Joe's so I don't went to get tricked again lol.
The plants look beautiful in the ad that popped into my insta feed and I'm really tempted with their "sale". Before I hit buy, I thought to check with yall.
Is $19 fair for a 4" pothos n'joy and is $12 good for a 3" parlor palm tree?
Lastly, are these good deals or no: a 4" calathea rattlesnake for $20 and a 4" monstera split-leaf minima for $17?
These are not prepotted plants btw just nursery ones. TIA!
..until I saw her peeking at me
I had forgotten to close the cellar door before night fell.
The air is perfectly still. I try to still my heartbeat to keep my body from shaking. It can't see, but it can hear.
As long as I don't move, I can awake to the sunrise. As long as I remain in bed, it will remain on the floor.
I hear it scratching the floorboards. The scratching is getting louder. My door is closed but the scratching is still getting louder.
There's a sound like soft bones being chewed. Each scratch gets longer. I can hear it. Deep gashes in the wood are forming. The gashes are right by my door.
I can hear choking. The scratching becomes quicker again. More bones are being chewed. The chewing sounds are getting slower but harsher.
The chewing noises stop.
It begins to breathe.
It made it past my bedroom door.
The scratching gets closer. It keeps breathing. The scratching is right by my ear. I can feel the tips of the sheets being brushed.
The sheets shift again. The scratching muffles. It is breathing right underneath me.
Keep still. All I have to do is keep still.
I cannot sleep, but I cannot open my eyes.
I cannot move.
The scratching becomes clearer. The sheets are shifting lightly again. I think I can feel them beginning to still. The scratches are growing quieter. They are just ever so slightly distant.
All I need to do is keep still.
The scratches continue to quiet ever so subtly still.
It is heading towards the door.
A draft comes in.
I shiver.
It grabs my legs.
And maybe, just maybe, they were afraid that something with bony fingers and eyes like red ice would take hold of them.
It's one thing to see it written that Tolkien declared "cellar door" to be the most beautiful phrase in the English language, and quite another to know what sounds he meant. Would he even have pronounced either 'r'? Does a rhotic American accent ruin the beauty of the thing?

In search for the most beautiful sounding English words, it was concluded that there is no phrase in the English language that is more beautiful than "cellar door". Which would be a case of agree to disagree, but I vehemently hate those words together. It's akin to the ugliest words in the English language, up there with the infamous "lubricates" or "moist" or "gorgeous".
The origins as to how this was concluded were mysterious, which leads me to believe this is an elaborate prank played by linguists to choose some of the most dissonant sounding words together and name them as "beautiful".

Paul, George and Ringo reworking and adding the final touches to Let It Be and I Me Mine at Studio 2, EMI Records. The final session with all four lads present was August 20, 1969 working on Abbey Road's I Want You (She's So Heavy).
