A list of puns related to "Telecon"
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a small tidbit of advice (although, I know many people may already be aware).
Bell Canada, among other large telecom providers, are more afraid of you than you are of them.
I am pretty keen on finding efficientcies in my budget, so as to put as much funds as possible into my registered savings accounts (and have some money left over for eating out and other "leisures" lol)
My girlfriend had been paying roughly $67.00 a month on her internet service with Bell.
I found this concerning as they were only providing her 50mbps speed and had suddenly and arbitrarily increased her bill by $5.00 a few months prior.
I on the other hand, had been with Fido; paying about $42.00 and receiving 75mbps speed (more than enough considering my gf and I just perform basic browsing and stream movies online).
After some quick deliberation and browsing other offers online we opted to confront bell and poke the bear a bit on May 6th. We found comparable service plans at Virgin and Fido that were much cheaper ($40-45 range and are ironically owned by bell Nd rogers respectively).
Let me preface the rest of this by saying that Bell is almost totally relentless. If you try to cancel, they will try every maneuver possible to try and convince you that leaving (the most logical thing one could do) is is totally illogical.
They'll say their service is "better", "safer", and make you feel like YOU owe THEM answers. π
If they can't win you over with their BS or guilt you into submission, they'll transfer you over to another person that MIGHT offer you a pathetic $5.00 off.
Although my gf's ccount was linked to her parents, she was paying her own bill. Because of this association, one of the Bell reps tried to convince her that she'd need her parents to call. The funniest part is that with one click of her mouse on the Bell website, she gave herself authorization to cancel. But by the time she noticed this, the rep hung up on her.
After having just paid her monthly bill and being told her billing cycle would end on May 15th, Bell sent her another Bill within days. She plans to inquire about this and cancel any additional auto-payment if one was made.
Further, they have been calling her incessantly over the weekend to try to win her back.
LONG STORY SHORT: If you are with Bell or Rogers: Get the hell out If you are not: AVOID AVOID AVOID. Always opt to cancel if the terms do not suit you; call every single buff.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey everyone,
I remember reading somewhere that the OCS Board could be done through Webcam or Phone due to the Corona Virus and such
I'm about to go on block leave overseas and they're going to do the BDE Board in that time, I was wondering if you guys saw that policy letter too about how these OCS boards could be done through Telecon?
Or if you guys have any advice or tips on how to overcome this obstacle?
I work on sewing projects to keep me away from my phone or reading something else.
This should be an easy one for you pros (Note: I did search around pinned posts, shortcuts forums, and a few other places for 15 minutes before asking here). I think itβs simple enough that I couldnβt find it already.
I work from home now and participate in a ton of telecons, some are the same call in everyday. So, I want a shortcut to set me up easier:
I canβt find the settings for changing to speaker or muting. Appreciate any help you can provide.
I know there is https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Troubleshooting#Enable_Echo/Noise-Cancellation but that's for noise cancellation from your own microphone IIUC.
I want to level and clean up audio I'm getting from Internet audio calls via Chime, so I can get less headaches. Does anyone have solutions to suggest please?
Modi (calls Imran): sariya (iron rod) hai?
Imran: haan hai.
Modi: daal le andar! hahaha (disconnects).
Next day, Modi calls again.
Modi: sariya hai?
Imran: (thinking) nahi.
Modi: accha, daal liya andar? hahaha (disconnects).
Calls again another day.
Modi: sariya hai?
Imran: (thinking more) hai bhi aur nahi bhi.
Modi: kyun be, andar bahar kar raha hai kyar? hahaha (disconnects).
Imran is so frustrated by now that he decides to do the same by calling Modi.
Imran: sariya hai?
Modi: kyun, andar dalvana hai? hahaha (disconnects).

I work remotely in the tech industry. Every week, our team has a telecon where we might have a group discussion each local team/person calls in and gives a status update about their progress. I'm a grad student working part time on the project, and a few weeks ago I mentioned that I would likely be transitioning off the project and looking for full time work following graduation in a few months. I could have applied to go full-time at this company, but wanted to move into a different specialty so I didn't apply to stay on with this team. I've since interviewed for and accepted another job, but hadn't told the lead supervisor about my acceptance until today when I accidentally mentioned my end date on the telecon. It was a little awkward and I told her I'd like to talk about it one on one, since she and I have been exchanging emails about something else, where I thought I'd have a chance to bring it up more organically. I've been in touch with my local manager about the whole interview process (he was a reference) and he's been really supportive. I've offered to help train my replacement and be in touch even after starting my new job. I'm really afraid that I might have irritated the lead supervisor today by not announcing my departure in a more tactful way, but also thinking that it might not be as bad as I'm afraid it was (I tend to over think things like this). The lead and I have a meeting to talk specifics scheduled for later this week. What's the right way to handle this upcoming meeting? Did I really screw up today, or is this more in the category of "could have been better, will be better next time"?
