Hi r/chicago, I am Paul Vallas. I'm a lifetime public servant, career problem solver and candidate for Mayor of Chicago. I am running to fix the economic "tale of two cities" that increasingly defines Chicago;ย fix the budget and pension crisis (WITHOUT cutting benefits or hiking taxes); improve public safety; make Chicago a healthy, green city; and clean out the corruption and pay-to-play culture that plagues Chicago politics.
My career includes being the CEO of CPS (1995-2001), superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia (2002-2007), New Orleans Recovery School District after Hurricane Katrina (2007-2010), and Bridgeport School District (2010-2014), as well as international crisis work in Haiti and Chile. edit - I also was the City Revenue and Budget Director for Chicago in the early 1990s.
Most recently before running for mayor, I worked with the Department of Justice and Department of the Interior under President Obama to build high-quality education systems in federal prison system and on federal Native American reservations.
In each position I've worked I've fixed and brought stability to systems in crisis, and made the budget into a long-term investment vehicle that equally serves all of our communities.

EDIT 6:00 p, 2/20- Paul has to go to a mayoral forum (West Loop Mayoral forum at 221 N Paulina if anyone wants to join). ... keep reading on reddit โก...at Schwab. This is money Iโve lived off of for almost a decade, only pulling from when necessary. The money now resides in a new account, still under my name, but I have zero access to it. She certainly canโt have access to it, right? Iโve made it very clear that there is no longer a valid POA to all parties multiple times (per Schwabโs advice to โprotect myselfโ). Schwab has been kind, indicated that the fraud department would have to open an investigation, but I canโt say theyโve been helpful. Iโve been promised, twice, a return phone call with an update from the fraud team. Calls never come. So far, nothing has happened.
My mother also says she is not required to provide me with any of my personal documents she has in her safe (Iโm 27!) and will not give me my birth certificate, ss card, tax returns, contracts Iโve signed(or sheโs forged, who knows), copies of trusts, even the real estate docs and inspection report on a house she had bought but was not taking care of, so she asked me to buy it from her earlier this year because she had nothing liquid to pay her taxes with (so she says) and she knew I happened to have just around a liquid $1.5M to purchase it. So I wrote her a check. That was when I used to trust my mother.
I live in this house now. Oh look, a few more spots of black mold appeared overnight. Super.
Iโm so sorry if this is too lengthy, I can explain why I believe my mother is doing these things but I didnโt think it was necessary. Just ask.

My buddy and I recently stopped playing Castle Clash after a year (great game, solid progression, just bored). We are currently looking for a new game to play that can fill that MMO style progression void.
We tried and loved summoner's war, but the problem was that it required way too much active time (even if it is auto-running zones) to get through all of your energy. We are looking for a game that has a progression system where you can make progress quickly each day (even if suboptimally) OR grind it out and spend some time focusing on it.
I know that sounds like a weird request but it is what we need.
We have tried the following and don't want to play them:
- Starwars Hero game (forget exact name)
- Chaos Chronicle
- Summoner's war
- Clash of Clans
- Boom Beach
- Game of War
- Clash royale
