[Walsh] The skates shortage among the major equipment suppliers is having an impact on NHL players. Factories in China are backed up months. Forget the custom skates on back order, some players are scouring retail store websites for new skates in their size and width. twitter.com/walsha/status…

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 27%. (I'm a bot)

> LONDON - Britain's High Court ruled Wednesday that the government acted unlawfully when it used a so-called "VIP lane" to award millions of pounds' worth of contracts to suppliers of personal protective equipment during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

> Two groups brought the legal action against the Department of Health and Social Care, alleging its use of the "High Priority Lane," reserved for referrals from lawmakers and senior officials, gave unfair advantage to some suppliers "Because of who they knew, not what they could deliver."

> On Wednesday, judge Finola O'Farrell said giving the two companies preferential treatment as part of the VIP lane was unlawful.

> It was clear that "Offers that were introduced through the senior referrers received earlier consideration at the outset of the process," she said, though the VIP lane did not give any advantage at the decision-making stage.

> The judge added that even if the companies had not been allocated to the fast-track lane, their offers would have been prioritized anyway, because of the large volumes of protective equipment they could supply.

> Supplies of personal protection equipment such as masks and aprons were severely limited in Britain and elsewhere in the spring of 2020 because of an unprecedented surge in demand and disruptions in supply chains due to the pandemic.

Equipment supplier contacted via comms net, let's hope I can get it replaced next time I dock at a station. reddit.com/gallery/qfnail

Commercial Food Processing Equipment Suppliers

I am scaling up my production and doing everything by hand ain't cutting it anymore.

I've been googling around for equipment to, among other things, move steamed grains from one conveyor to another, "air shoot" steamed grains to tanks, and cool steamed grains down.

I haven't had much luck finding what I need- can anyone suggest specific manufacturers or some website directory of manufacturers? Thanks in advance!

Music Equipment supplier UK?

Hi UK techs. I used to use Thomann.de quite a bit because they carry so many different items but I've heard that Brexit has made it more difficult and expensive to buy from them, are you still using Euro suppliers or is there a better option?

Water supplier policy on charging monthly fee for a furnished property

Hello!

I have a property in London that is currently empty (except for white goods like a fridge and washing machine). Confirmed with my water supplier that the account wasn’t needed until a tenant was found unless the property was fully furnished (in which case they’d need the account and would then do a monthly charge as the water supply isn’t metered).

Why is this? Why would it matter if the flat had furniture beyond the goods that actually use water?
