A list of puns related to "Suga (rapper)"
The artists I mentioned above r who I consider the best 3rd gen kpop had to offer rap wise. I also feel like it is the epitome kpop industry can delve into the hip hop scene. These guys solo works r just pure raw nd unaltered hip hop nd the feel that gives is just hands down brilliant verse structures, varying flows, the lyrical play nd etc.
U guys need to check out their solo releases - RM has two mixtapes,Suga has two mixtapes, J Hope 1, Bobby has 2 mixtapes nd I think those both r full albums, Mino also has 2 mixtapes. For Zico I can't even name how many songs he produced. Just go to their Spotify pages nd click shuffle.
Apart from music perspective, I feel like these guys r sooo respected even in the k hip hop scene that I feel like it is impossible to recreate that level of success nd impact. Also all these guys know each other since the beginning although they don't mention each other.
Even before debut Bobby nd BI were making waves in Korea, Zico seems to have ascended a nee level of popularity that everything he touches becomes hit, I don't even need to say about Bts, they have ascended to another level even collaborating with some OG hip hop artists both international nd korean. Mino also is another respected rapper in the scene nd he has worked with soo many hip hop artists.
Right now in the current gen, I'm only gonna talk about stray kids cox they only seem to be putting effort in rap areas nd they seem to give their attention to the genre nd wanting to prove themselves. One of them even went to show me the money although he did disqualify.
While out of 4th gen , they seem to be the ones to ace it, if I have to compare their work to their seniors only in group not solo coz they haven't released solo works. I feel like they fall short by a large extent. The flow, the lyrical play, the versatility I find them to be average. Is it only me who feels that? Let me know guys.
They do seem to tackle some good topics on their work nd they seem to be as authentic as possible but like I said they seem to be ok. Nothing extraordinary but average. Like I don't get tracks like Fear by Mino, Yggr by Bobby, hit me by Mobb, hip hop lover nd cypher series by Bts rap line nd their earlier albums works.
Nd keep in mind I am only including the early 3 years works of the above guys, not their whole career works coz stray kids also had 3 years since debut.
I feel like vocalists wise maybe the 4th gen can match up the previous gen but rap wise it's not

suga is a crucial member of my favourite rapline in kpop, so i definitely like his rapping. also, i don't know much about production so i can't say that his beats are really epic or that he is a better producer than he is a rapper. however, i've noticed that when i want to listen to or admire his music (or BTS songs where he plays a big role), i go for songs where he plays a big role as the producer, rather than songs where he spits a great verse or something. when i do listen to him rap, i usually value his brilliant ability to tell stories, the emotional impact of his words & delivery & his little mannerisms more so than his speed, diction, flow, etc. (in my opinion, the strengths that i mentioned are not specific to rap; for example, if he chose to take more vocal lessons & become a singer, he could still tell stories & emote with his voice. therefore, i don't really view them as reasons to prefer his rapping in particular.)
yoongi has some great verses, e.g tear, ugh, dis-ease, 134340, daechwita, first love, etc. however, i don't think he is as consistently enjoyable as j-hope, who may be less proficient technically but is great at riding the beat & the best at adapting to bts' non-hiphop ot7 songs, nor do i listen to him rap for the sake of just rapping as much as i listen to rm. but, while i might be indifferent to some of yoongi's verses, i love virtually every single one of the songs that he has produced. a great majority of the tracks on this prod suga playlist are some of my favourite songs ever; autumn leaves, let me know, interlude: shadow, intro: nevermind & tomorrow (!!!!!!!!) are all amazing. none of his collabs have been misses for me either; yoongi literally produced my favourite song on epik high's sleepless album. as for his solo work, especially D-2, the sound & the "vibes" (for lack of a better word) of the tracks stand out to me more than the raps themselves. i love his lyrics but imo what he says is sometimes more memorable than the way he says it. for example, with the exception of "mm mm mm, i'm so serious" & that verse daechwita, i can't really recall specific verses from D-2 (which i've listened to a dozen times).

... keep reading on reddit β‘There is a WAVE of kpop fans coming in because of the rise in BTS, and members being involved in the culture; this has lead to a huge spike in some stupid shit spewed on this sub. So let's go over why Suga, is. so. average. (And RM, imo). I want to preface by saying i don't hate BTS, nor do i think they are awful (I think they are actually very unique in a very saturated market).
First, we have only two mixtapes of Suga. So not too much sample size, but it will do.
Agust D (By Agust D) was released in 2016, and was pure trash of a mixtape. The productions were decent, but his rapping was so forced and off, it ruined tons of the proponent of the mixtape. As Rhythmer claims:
> The production of the mixtape wasn't bad, but his rap tone was far too unnatural and his lyrics mixed with a desire for recognition, a sense of inferiority, and self-examination were not as inspiring as intended. Hence why it was panned by both critics and the audience.
Case proven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y_Eiyg4bfk
This was, I think, the title song of the mixtape, and you immediately notice him growling his tone to make this super unnatural sound, which in turn hurts his final delivery in his verses; couple this with the fact that his flow is literally ALL over the place. It's just not a good performance, at all.
This mixtape was garbage, and mostly utilize the similar tone and cadence from this song. I don't recommend anyone listening to it. There's this notion that fast raps are considering "going off" in the idol market, and his album is the epitome of that.
D-2 was his most recent release, and it was much better. His tone has smoothed out and his flow stabilized. This is emphasized in λμ·¨ν. However, despite the growth, and the insane production, his rapping performance is so so average and his hook is pretty unimpressive. Their lies the issue. He raps like a commercial korean idol rapper. Songs like μ μ μ΄λ₯Έμ΄ λλλ΄,μ¬λ, and μ΄μνμ§ μμκ° are filled with extremely generic korean-idol cadences/flows/lyrics and the productions are not able to offset his average rapping skills like λμ·¨ν.
And THAT'S the issue. Unless the production is absolutely stellar, Suga puts out extremely generic songs. And it's generic because his PERFORMANCES are generic.
This is not even "idol hating" bullshit that loser khiphop fans like to spew. But even among IDOLS, Suga sounds very generic. Zico is the definition of an idol with an incredible rap basics. And despite GD clearly not being

Iβve never listened BTSβs music. I felt inclined to give some of it a try after I heard all the praise towards their rap line.
I thought of making a separate post about their rap line, but I thought this would be way more unpopular - and funnier.
I just - Iβm shocked no one has made the connection yet. But Suga (I hope thatβs his name) sounds to me like he is half-talking and half-yelling, and I just couldnβt stop thinking about 6ix9ine. Itβs just SO similar to me, hehe.
I hope Iβm not alone in this conclusion, lol. Anyone else feel the same?
Edit: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. After someone commented it I realized that I meant to include Changbin from Stray Kids in this post.
Edit 2: I was going to immediately delete this post until I saw the traction this was getting. Still laughing from some of these comments. Seriously, Iβm dead set on becoming the savior of unpopular K-Pop opinions. Yβall ainβt seen nothing yet! (evil laugh)
But seriously, I want to clarify I mean no harm by this post. It looks like no one else shares this sentiment but I thought this sub could use some of my weirdest opinions. (Reference: My βTT is unbearableβ post)
The stage name Suga (μκ°) is derived from the first syllables of the term shooting guard (μν κ°λ), the position he played in basketball as a student. I don't know if I am the only one who didn't know this, or if it's common knowledge but I have never thought about its meaning or have seen people talk about it.

So i was re-reading bts's older lyrics, and in we are bulletproof pt 2, Yoongi says :
"meanwhile you got lucky contacted by an agency, all of you who are called rappers just because you can't sing, the title "rapper" is an extravagance for you"
The way i interpret that line is that he is talking about how many idol rappers in kpop only got the rapper position because they are weak singers, which is why most kpop rappers aren't even that good in a sense where they aren't even rappers in the first place, just reciting whatever their company gave them.
EDIT : some of yall are saying that it's self drag or that it makes him arrogant.. Do you guys listen to hip-hop outside of your kpop faves ? Just curious, because it doesn't seem like it. Besides, i don't think he is dissing ALL idol rappers with no exception, but the ones who fit into that description, aka majority of idol rappers. If your faves are talented rappers, got into their company because they loved rap, write their own lyrics and are praised by professionals for their bars and flow, but they happen to be part of a kpop group, then it's not directed at them. Yoongi didn't mention "idol rappers" directly, did he ? Before saying "the rapper title is an extravagance for you" (meaning you are not a real rapper), he actually said who he is talking about, the ones "who are called rappers because they can't sing". If you are offended at that line, then shoe fits. Reminds me of the "pill poppers" line he mentionned in Daechwita, and a bunch of kpop fans got offended and thought he talked about their faves. So you view your faves as a talentless pill popper ? Rappers were exposed left and right BY THEIR OWN FANS.
Starting off with the fact that this is in no ways has anything to do with BTS or Suga specifically but rather the mentality of certain fans.
When was the last time you heard a male artist being called as a female artists' male version. Have you ever heard a great vocalist being called as the male Taeyeon. Probably not. Its always female [ insert excellent male personality]
There was a post on UKO earlier about how Soyeon is comparable to the BTS rapline. Now you are allowed to have an opinion regarding whether she really matches up or not but why tf are you calling her another average idol rapper just because someone compared her to BTS. Most of those people haven't even properly heard her work and are just pissed as to how did someone have the audacity to compare an excellent female rapper with their faves.
Suga and Soyeon are great individual talents and should be appreciated in their own terms and not like this. I get angry when people call good female footballers as the female Messi. Messi has been my idol since I was 8 but I hate these kind of statements dished out to people especially women.
Suga is the third extended play by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. It was released on March 6, 2020, by 1501 Certified Entertainment and 300 Entertainment. It features guest appearances from Kehlani and Gunna. The project's release was preceded by legal troubles between the rapper and the label, following a contract renegotiation attempt, which led to the filing of a temporary restraining order towards the label. Megan had initially intended for it to be her debut studio album, but instead released it as an EP as a result.
The EP features the single "B.I.T.C.H.", released on January 24, 2020, that charted at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single "Captain Hook", was released on March 10, 2020 and charted at number 74 in the US. The third and final single "Savage", was sent to top 40 radio formats on April 7, 2020, and has since become Megan Thee Stallion's first chart-topper in the United States, aided by a BeyoncΓ© remix.

So, I always see a lot of posts and/or comments on different platforms talking about how (G)I-DLE's Jeon Soyeon is the female version of BTS' Suga, but I think this isn't totally accurate. Comparing Soyeon to only one of the BTS rappers, I feel, downplays her skill quite a bit, as there are many different elements that contribute to someone's rapping ability. It might be more accurate to say that she actually possesses elements of RM and J-Hope's rapping as well.
RM - Namjoon has tremendous technical skill, honed by being an underground rapper for some time. He is really good at wordplay in his raps, and has also mastered some more advanced techniques such as out-of-pocket rapping. Soyeon is known for having wordplay in her raps as far back as Unpretty Rapstar, where her raps often had double meanings in the lyrics, and she also uses this when writing songs such as Oh My God, finding creative ways to get her point across in a song. She has plenty of honed technique to go around as well, having proven on stage in the past that she is also capable of rapping out-of-pocket, and as far as I know, she and Namjoon are part of only a handful of idol rappers who have this level of skill. Thus, in the sense of technical skill, I think she can be compared to RM. Whether she's on the same level as him, I don't know for sure, but she's definitely up there.
Suga - This one's obvious. They're both known for their speed. Going off syllable counts alone, Soyeon is the fastest female rapper in Kpop right now, and Yoongi is also known for his speed; I think the only idol rapper faster than him is Seo Changbin of Stray Kids. Yoongi, I believe, can pull off up to 11 syllables per second, at least from what there is on video, and Soyeon's fastest rap on record is 8.3. While she's not as fast as Yoongi, yet, she has been showing off faster raps year after year, so who knows, maybe someday she can catch up.
J-Hope - This one's a bit harder to explain, but one thing I respect about Hobi is how versatile he is. He is capable of changing up his flow to suit each individual song, no matter the genre. I will often listen to certain BTS songs and feel like either Namjoon or Yoongi's style of rapping maybe didn't suit the song as much as it could have, and I've never had that complaint with Hobi. To top it off, he can also sing and dance very wel

Just like the title says, what is your favorite signature phrase/sound that a rapper says to signify they're about to spit bars? I also wanted to know how popular it is for them to do so, since I know groups where only one of the multiple rappers do that.
Whenever people talk about the BTS rap line, most of the time people choose Suga as their favorite rapper and I donβt get why. With the exceptions of Outro: Tear, Ddaeng and a few other of BTSβs rap songs, I find his rapping extremely cringe. For the life of me I donβt get why people always show off his rapping skills through Agust D, I find his rapping in that song and in that album in general very unpleasant. I love him and Iβve tried to listen to his mixtapes, but I simply cannot bring myself to. I think RM is the better rapper of the three by far, and I always enjoy his verses and solo stuff. I think J-Hope is the most creative of the three, and his verses are always my favorite in their songs. Similarly, his mixtapes always bring his own color into it and I enjoy his rapping very much.
I am not saying Suga is not talented, as he definitely is. I simply cannot understand how he is peopleβs preference of rapping style. Sure, his rap is the fastest of the three, but as I mentioned I find his rapping cringe.
Hello, this is a BTS related opinion I've had for a while as a dancer but I recently checked out this Butter fancam of V --https://youtu.be/zllBuIHbtj4
and I can't help but wonder if his lead dancer position is official. I am leaning towards yes because of the kpop profiles but I wonder how this decision was made. V is an interesting performer who relies on his natural charms and good looks and sells his face well. But his dancing isn't objectively his selling point so I don't understand the position change. Especially since Jungkook and V now have the same position and the skill level is very different. V tries and puts effort in his dancing a little bit more when he's in the front but doesn't when he's at the back. He doesn't complete his moves and even lets his expressions/face fall.
I know V did better in a concept like ON where he decided to put more effort into the dancing. But even in ON, Suga has shown more natural rhythm and musicality. He competes his moves and is generally looser and fluid. For eg.---
Suga at 25 seconds when J-hope is rapping
https://youtu.be/UrQwimBQeX0
and V at 55 seconds when J-hope is rapping
https://youtu.be/oFR7l1KLP9Y
V focuses more on giving us face, with his I don't care vibe which works and people like it, but since it's a discussion about dancing, I feel he falls short. And I know Suga most probably doesn't care to be in the dance line. But to me, V doesn't have the skills to be a part of it either. I wonder though if it's really his skills or his attitude towards performing. I think he could do better if he wanted to.
Here for eg. it looks like he isn't trying at all-- https://youtu.be/ntjg4JAOOTI
and this was Fake Love era when he was made a lead dancer. If it was practice and not a live performance, I'd understand. He comes across as a temperamental performer which isn't an issue though. Just doesn't help when you have a position to fill.
Again, this is not to hate on him, it's an observation and I hope we can without fighting have a discussion in the comments instead and agree to disagree if needed. I also know people think positions don't matter anymore but he does get treated as a lead dancer and even gets put in positions where Jimin and J-hope as main dancers have to alternate and not be centre, giving him better positions along with Jungkook on dancing alone.
lets forget about the f*cking btsb00t thing and let me share something very lovely suga did.
so i read an article in my google feed where one Indian delivery guy working in korea told about his impression of bts specially suga
here are those two tweets in which the guy tells what kind words Suga told him
here is the part of that article i read;
A Malayali man working as a food delivery guy in South Korea has given an interview to a local channel. He has said that he is not a fan nor a part of ARMY but was touched by the band, especially Suga.
It seems he had gone to their dorm at Hannam The Hill on some occasions to deliver food. He has met Jungkook, Jin, Suga and RM. He told the radio station as reported by Koreaboo, "If you ask me about the experienceβ¦All four of them are superb. They never made us feel like they have any kind of attitude about having millions of fans."
He has also spoken about a specific incident involving Suga. It seems it was a rainy day and he had to make a delivery. Suga wrote in the ordering App 'Rider Request' that it was raining and it did not matter if the food came late. He requested the driver to be safe on the road while driving.
He was quoted as saying, "I would especially like to mention one instance. Once, Sugaβ¦ It was a rainy day. Actually, there is no option for the customers to contact us, but there is a feature called βRider Requestβ. And in that request section, he wrote, "Itβs a rainy dayβ¦It doesnβt matter however late you are, drive carefully."
its so sweet of Suga to say that to the delivery guy. this considerate down to earth attitude will definitely keep him happy in life forever and he will get whatever he wants.
edit: corrected a word
