These are both newer pads so it's difficult to find comparisons. Here's what I've gathered from reading various comments etc--can you correct if I am wrong?
Strider:
- uncoated but has some kind of water repellent treatment. not sure if this is similar to what you'd find on raincoats or if it's just the way the weave of the fabric that makes the water bead up
- solidly in the hybrid category
- 410mm height in XXL size which is about average
- less stopping power
- less initial (static?) friction
- not sensitive to humidity
- x/y may or may not be even depending on who you ask
- harder because 3mm
- rougher surface
better stitchingthe same stitching as the LGG pads (https://youtu.be/o14sGxPqwN4?t=116) in the sense that it is lower than the surface, overall quality not quite up to Artisan but still quite good. Strangely in a separate video on the LGG Venus, boardzy said the stitching on that did not drop below the mat surface. Mercury:
- uncoated
- more cloth-like, yet still rougher than a typical cloth pad
- XXL size has a bit more height than average at 500mm which could be attractive depending on the games you play
- more stopping power
- more initial (static?) friction
- no humidity issues
- no x/y issues
- 4mm thickness, not sure how it affects feel but likely not quite as hard
- surface is not as rough, yet still rougher than a typical cloth pad. roughness may smooth out a bit over time.
- stitching is good quality, but does not drop below surface of mat (this note based off a boardzy review of the Venus(?)--I assume the stitching is the same on all three LGG pads). But boardzy also said it was identical to the Strider?
- possibly better base to desk grip

Damascus Civivi Bundle - Button Lock Elementum with mat damascus and carbon fiber peel ply, has been sharpened. It's fun to fidget with. Also include a polished damascus McKenna. Has plain black g10 scales. some wear on the clip. has been sharpened. $100.00 for both. -SOLD-

Hello, this is my first full review that I've done in post form, enjoy!
Pricing and sizing
The MP511 is $20 on Amazon US for the 450x400mm version and I've had it for a bit more than a month. The Strider is $30 for the same size and I've had it for a week.
I think most of us wish these pads had a larger size with more vertical space, like at least 450x450mm if not 500x500mm, but it's a minor issue or a non-issue unless you use some really low sens.
Glide and surface
The MP511 and the Strider are both fast and feel similar in speed, the MP511 being just a little bit faster, the Strider having more stopping power and the static friction being very close between the two. If I had to place them in Hoya's sheet it would be both in the Fast category.
Although one thing I've learned after using many pads is that, as long as you're still using cloth, your mouse has good skates and the humidity is medium or low, the speed differences between pads isn't huge at all. However, if there's high humidity, your regular and average cloth pads will slow down quite a bit and the difference between these and pads like the MP511 and the Strider will widen considerably. So if you didn't catch that, yes: unsurprisingly, the MP511 and the Strider are both quite resistant to humidity.
I don't feel any X/Y difference on the Strider although a few reviewers have said the Y is a bit slower. I tried swiping horizontally slowly, then fast, with downward pressure and without, and then I rotated the pad 90Β° and did the same and I honestly couldn't tell a difference. The MP511 on the other hand does have some difference, and surprisingly no video review I've seen mentions that, but it's only noticeable while using a decent amount of downward force. If you only include the mouse and hand weight you can't tell the X/Y difference at all.

Both are rough surfaces but the Strider is quite rougher still. Using the Strider you can feel the roughness of the texture on the glide with G203 Corepads, Tiger ICE and Viper Mini stock feet, but I personally don't mind that at all.

It is against corporate policy, meaning this applies to every single studio worldwide, for a member to substitute the treadmill/bike/strider in place of the rower. This is because there is truly zero equivalent to the rower in the studio. Of course, extenuating circumstances apply and personally my studio on occasion will allow bike/strider with a doctorβs note that specifically states that while they cannot row, they are able to perform all or most other functions at OTF (specifically the treadmill) or also if you are pregnant and cannot physically bend at the hips.
My reason for pointing this out is not to be an A-Hole stickler, but to remind people that what is allowed at your studio and by your coach, may not be allowed by another studio or another coach that is trying to remain compliant and maintain consistency.
I really wanted to say this as a reminder to be kind, patient and understanding when your coach says no and provides education as to why and is trying to look for solutions for you. This applies to other corporate wide policies such as no phones in class, wearing headphones in class (yes, it actually happens), or jumping the rails.
Your coaches are certified personal trainers. We are here to help you at all times, and there is a reason you are at Orangetheory and not a big box gym. Once again, not trying to stir any pots, just wanting to remind everyone to be patient and kind and to talk to you coaches respectfully (and before class) if there are issues that prevent you from fully getting the most out of your OTF workout.
