A list of puns related to "Streaking (microbiology)"
Iβm wondering what tools would be best to do this at home. I would use an inoculation loop in lab, but I donβt have any laying around at home.
I was thinking about using Q tips but Iβm unsure if they would be good for spreading the bacteria across the plate to get separate colonies. And I would like to keep this activity as sterile as possible.
I thought about just making some inoculation loops at home with paper clips. That way we could use fire to sterilize them. Would this be a good idea?
Additionally, Iβm concerned about what I will do to help the bacteria grow. My best idea was to leave the plates in my car. It gets around 80f here during the day and 60f at night.
Iβm mostly just trying to do a fun at home experiment.
Any advice is appreciated!
Hi everyone, hopefully y'all can help me. I am taking microbiology online and got an at-home lab kit. On the box there is a sticker saying "this kit contains items labeled with 'refrigerate' stickers," but when I look through the contents, there are no items labeled with refrigerate stickers.
Honestly to me it doesn't look like anything actually needs refrigeration. I am hoping some people who know microbiology can tell me which of these items should be refrigerated, if any! Here is the list of contents.
Thanks in advance!
How do micro-organisms communicate?
With cell phones.
All of the moneys is coming in on Dallas. They also have that bizarre cursed .500 energy going for them too. On the other hand, weβre beginning a home stand and haven't trailed since last month, so......
Let's get it!!!

Interested in how science and art overlap? So are we! We are scientists and artists who use a variety of artistic media to create works of art that showcase microbiology in our world. Some of us use combinations of microbes "painted" on nutritional agar; others use more traditional artistic platforms like drawings and photography to express our ideas. What we have in common (other than our love of microbiology and art) is that we are all winners of the American Society for Microbiology's 2021 Agar Art Contest!
The American Society for Microbiology has organized this annual contest since 2015, inviting scientists, artists, and anyone with an interest in the intersection of science and art, to create and submit their microbial artwork. This is a rugged competition: each year there are hundreds of entries from around the world that are narrowed down through two rounds of expert judging to identify the winners.
Join us today for a discussion about our individual artistic inspirations and creative processes. We'll answer your questions about how to turn microbes (and microbial ideas and concepts) into works of art. We'll be jumping on from 2 - 4 PM ET (7 PM - 9 PM UTC). Ask us anything!

I will remain optimistic about this team until we are eliminated from the playoffs or until Bron/AD are seriously injured.
You just can never right off a team with Lebron James playing at an All NBA level. AD has proven to be a dominant playoff performer as well. Donβt care.
The first half of this season has been hilariously screwed by bad injury luck and AD not dominating. I still have confidence heβll raise his game. Getting Nunn, Ariza and THT (or trade candidates) into a real rhythm will help a ton.
Ideally weβll get healthy in January and start winning big games. The rest of the west isnβt great. The 4th or 5th seeds are very very open. Get one of those and anything can happen.
Just as somebody who is on a 4 win streak or higher gets a fire around his UI to the right, just as well why don't we have a 4 lose streak or higher as a blue fire?
I tried both for the first time last summer and it was honestly fun as hell. From skinny dipping into apartment pools and streaking at a park I question if anyone else still does this and if so how was your experience?
So,, it turns out you can't read the entire thing without a paid journal subscription, but our boy did an interview with Future Microbiology in November that was just published online. A little ink in a peer-reviewed journal. Why not?

Lets say there was 5 players, the setup would be 4 exploding and 1 imploding kitten. If a player had a streaking kitten and had an exploding kitten, but no defuse. If that player draws an exploding kitten they are out of the game. My question is do they put 1 of the exploding kittens back in the deck? Or do they just discard both exploding kittens?
thanks
Norovirus and parasites? Nah, Iβll pass.
Hello,
So I'm not really if this the right place to ask this but I wasn't really sure where else to ask it.
Anyway, I am planning on applying to PA school relatively soon as I have three semesters of undergraduate left. I am a biochemistry major and I am required to take either microbiology or genetics. I chose to take microbiology this upcoming spring semester (which starts in 2 days) just because I heard it was cool and I got a really well rated professor, but I am second guessing myself that genetics might be a more insightful course and look better on my academic record than microbiology for a PA program. I could easily switch to genetics as there are available seats in the course and it works with my schedule but I just wanted some other opinions about this and whether or not it is worth my time to take genetics or stick with my original choice of microbio.
Thank you!
