Recently watched Spirit Untamed, and loved it enough that I watched the movie twice. I also watched an episode of the Netflix series, Spirit Riding Free, and I'm a bit confused.
I noticed in Spirit Riding Free, characters looked different even though they're the same and some scenes were recreated in Spirit Untamed (such as Lucky in back of the train watching the horses). My question is, is Spirit Untamed a retelling or a re-imagining of Riding Free?
Maybe I need to watch the series more, but am a bit curious on this since I'm kind of new to Spirit. Any answers would be appreciated.
I have a 5yo who is obsessed with Spirit: Untamed, which was released this summer. It seems to be based off of the Netflix spin-off about Spirit. I was a few years older when she is when Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron came out. It was an amazing movie and I was so happy to pass my horse-girl tendencies on to my daughter. I honestly regret introducing her to the franchise now. "Spirit Riding Free" and "Spirit: Untamed" have none of the spirit of the original film.

The original movie told us that we were getting to hear the story of the old west not from the saddle of a horse, but from the heart of one. The rest of the franchise is told from the saddle.

Spirit's mother and girlfriend end up saddled up and tamed by the pioneers in the rest of the franchise. This is after they were set free by the Lakota, who successfully evaded the U.S. military, at the end of the first film.

How exactly did Spirit: Untamed cost $30 million? Is this Hollywood Accounting? Because you could have spent just a little of that money on a decent script or a nice score.

Spirit in the first film represents freedom. Even though the plot revolves around him resisting the frontier settlers and U.S. military, in a way he still is the Spirit of frontier America, and of native America. He's a mustang-- a horse that descends from domesticated animals, but is wild by birth. His full name is Spirit Who Cannot Be Broken. He is, if anything, free. Yet, in the spin-offs, he's domesticated by colonists? Right back to what he wanted to avoid? He also has no internal monologue. The entire story revolves around these little girls who can amazingly lasso and tie up many men who far outnumber them... and Spirit has no monologue at all. The one thing I can say that the spin-off and sequel did decently is realize that you can't put a saddle on Spirit, and had his rider (young white girl who is the main character) ride him bareback. Spirit's girlfriend and mother are still constantly saddled. Spirit never would have allowed that.
I'm disappointed that my daughter seems to prefer watching a formulaic "Dreamworks: A comcast company" 3-D film over an actual example of freedom, egalitarianism, and quality cinema.
The intro theme to "Spirit: Riding Free" showing "Fight Like a Girl" graffiti is just the icing on the cake. It's such shallow pandering. I hate this world for giving Spirit: Untamed a 95% audience approval score on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm guessing parents overwhelmingly ga

If you want to go to hear Taylor, don't. Spirit Untamed is out in Russia and we went to the cinema to hear Taylor but the song does not play in the movie. Even in the end.
In the quest to recover the sword to Regnard, can anyone give me some tips? This beast do 40~50 damage per hit... Is a absolute nightmare =.= And his high AC of 44 also don't help =.=
Edit: Nevermind, I found only now that he has a awful touch AC, with Ember using thos trhree fire rays and my character using that holy ray plus some summons to tank him for one or two rounds, I got him down.
