I figured after how much my corrupted save game blew up y'all deserved to hear the tale of the ill-fated Uí Néill Noígíallach dynasty. It all began in the year of our lord 769, with the rather craven Chief Congalach of Meath. His reign lasted a grand four more years before giving up the ghost at age 63. His son Flann mac Congalach succeeded him in a grand. Flann knew he possessed a great education and was widely regarded as a brilliant strategist. He also knew he had the blood of High King Niall 'of the Nine Hostages.' He then made it his goal to unite Ireland under his high kingship. He controlled the whole of the island before passing on in the year 812. His grandson Domnall succeeded him but was viewed as a tyrant. Domnall wanted absolute control and soon revoked all his vassals' titles. He then expanded his realm in the most immoral of ways. Domnall was a man of many heresies, seeming to follow whichever variation of religion would grant him the most opportunities for conquest. Countless holy wars later, Domnall passed on and with him, all hopes for the Catholics of Europe. Niall soon became the new Petty King of Meath but desired a new realm name. Niall became enamored by the work and commitment shown by the people of the Isle of Mhannin. Soon the new Kingdom of Mhannin was formed. Ireland and Wales were no more, being reduced to mere titular titles which Niall I flaunted as his trophies of conquest. That conquest soo encompassed all of West Francia which he renamed to West Mhannia as a clear insult to the Karlings whose blood he ironically now possessed. After securing Aquitaine, now called the Sudetenlan, Niall I created the Imperium of Mhannin. Before dying, Niall embraced the faith of the Norse people. Niall II inherited the throne as well as a greatly weakened Denmark from his father. He soon subjugated the Danes. Perhaps it was part of his appearance. For although Niall II was undoubtedly Irish, it was often remarked in the court that he looked more like an Anglo-Saxon than that of an Irishman. After taking Denmark, Niall saw that it was a time for a reformation of the rather unorganized Germanic faith. In his pride, he saw no issues with naming himself and his descendants to be among the Pantheon of Norse gods. Fylkir Niall II died soon after a successful Great Holy War for Middle Francia, which he referred to as Lotharingia. The Confederation of Irish-Nordic-Cypriots’ mandate within the Global Interoperable Guarantee for Allied Support (GIGAS) has shifted the calculus of STOICS Allied Maritime Command’s doctrine into a greater expeditionary stance. In order to better fulfill its expanded defensive responsibilities and support allied operations further afield, particularly in regards to GIGAS commitments to Japan, Siberica, and Canada, the Republican Navy and Royal Commonwealth Naval Army have collectively commissioned the development and construction of four modern supercarriers that will serve as a visible demonstration of the INC’s new status as a revived global force.
Named in honor of the Norse-Gael Dynasty of Ivar, the four vessels of the Uí Ímair line of warships will undergo construction by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance and Maersk’s Odense Steel Shipyard, with the lead vessels of the class, the RCNA Ivar the Boneless and RN Bárid mac Ímair constructed, launched, and commissioned in eight years. The remaining two vessels, the RN Sichfrith mac Ímair and RN Sitriuc mac Ímair, will undergo a more rapid five year construction and commissioning cycle.
Given existing RN interest in stealth carrier designs, the Uí Ímair-class is based on a novel hullform inspired by the former USN’s CVX 3C Stealth Monohull, Study S2 as designed by J. David McWhite, to meet the most stringent signature requirements in Radar Cross Section, infrared, and noise. The lands of Tír Chonaill in the north of Ireland were no stranger to the influence of the Kings of England, though they nominally supported the English lordship over their island they continue to practice Gaelic customs and laws despite the Statutes of Kilkenny. With the English still recovering from the Hundred Years' War and the War of the Roses, the Ó Domhnaill (O'Donnell) set their sights on regaining their former glory as descendants of Niall Noígíallach and uniting the Irish.
Ruling from Caisleán Dhún na nGall (Donegal Castle), they are one of the stronger powers in Northern Ireland. Considered an economically strong region, they held vast herds of cattle and sheep and large swathes of oat farms. Their rivers hold valuable troves of salmon, eel, oysters, and seals, while their woodlands have extensive reserves of all types of game. Their sheltered bays attracted foreign merchants and fishermen attracted by the salmon and herring fisheries found within.
Aodh Ruadh mac Néill Gairbh Ó Domhnaill is the current King of Tír Chonaill, having reigned since 1461. He is 73 years old in 1500. His son and heir, Aodh Dubh Ó Domhnaill, will historically ascend to the throne of Tír Chonaill in 1505. For the sake of RP, he will have a younger son, Ronan Ó Domhnaill, and two daughters, Sinaed, Cara, and Eireann. Sinead is married to a vassal lord, while the other two are yet to be married. The rules of Aodh Ruadh and Aodh Dubh are considered to be the golden age of the Ó Domhnaill clan.
