A list of puns related to "Ships husbandry"
Approx. 160 AS
The final animal domesticated in Alqalore was the dromedary camel. Although camels are stubborn and ornery, their taming had a great influence on Alqalori society. Previously, any journey across the desert had to be taken on foot. After the taming of the camel, caravans began to travel between towns and oases, crossing the vast expanse of the desert at greater speed than previously possible. The camels could also carry heavy burdens, especially of water, allowing for increased trade and letting caravans cut across previously un-crossable stretches of desert. Now that the camel had been domesticated, along with sheep, goats, and aurochs (as well as cats and dogs, which had been domesticated for centuries), the Alqalori domination of nature was complete.
Meanwhile, agriculture was also advancing apace. In addition to the various food crops grown, the Alqalori learned to harvest peppers and other spices, cotton, several kinds of incense, and papyrus. These formed an important part of the early Alqalori trade network.
Hello, r/ badhistory,
Recently a well-known YouTube channel, Extra Credits, made a series of videos, presenting a narrative of the British conquest and rule of the Indian subcontinent as part of it's Extra History series. The first video of the series attempted to provide a general observation and introduction of the subject, giving a brief overview of the geography, the existing consensus and the major fields of research and trends in historiography. I shall link the video here :
Kindly take your time watching this while you read through each section of this post
I would also like to say, that while I criticise their videos, I do not intend for this post to be perceived or interpreted as a disapproval of the channel or it's existing library of videos and work in general. All this being said, I shall now begin, and once again, I shall try and quote the video accurately, as well as provide time stamps for all the quotes I use.

>Talking about the historical paradox at the heart of the conquest, the idea that drives public interest and leads historians to dedicate their lives to this topic : How did the entire subcontinent of India become beholden to the rule of Britain a comparatively tiny island off the coast of Europe?
The answer to the question raised in the latter half of this section of the video is fairly straightforward, the Parliament of the United Kingdom, passed on the 2nd of August, 1858, the Act For The Better Governance Of India, which among other provisions, liquidated the East India Company and transferred the territories, treaties, assets and institutions of the East India Company to the British Crown. This is at the heart of the problems of this video, where it fails to draw distinctions between the Company, the transitional phases of the Company and the era of the Raj, and refers to the traders who arrived on the shores of Gujurat, the British Crown and the English crown, with the same terminology, namely "British", therefore ignoring their inherent differences in implications, depending on the time period. It is indeed no Paradox that the British crown took over the EIC territories, that incident is well documented and there are no great disagreements about it. The Paradox that the video tries to draw attention to is the conquest of the subcontinent by the Company, and again, this is a Paradox only in name, as the company was never a mere commercial entity, but one wh

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hey folks. Was reading through some comments on other posts and I noticed a few people were searching for some kind of lore overview or synopsis, so here it is. Be advised, this is far from comprehensive, but I wanted to get down a baseline as well as a few conjectures.
For a bit of backstory, I got to level 60 on my first character and realized that I had no idea what was going on in the game, so I decided to remake and try again. I'm currently level 51 as of writing this, and have cleared every quest up to the Great Cleave zone, of which I'm currently working through.
I suppose the best thing to do would be to categorize it and see where that takes us. I will mostly be avoiding spoilers, but there will be a few things discussed here that involve the Main Story Quests as well as a few side quests.
Introduction
Currently, the time is somewhere in the 1700s. The isle of Aeternum rests somewhere roughly between North America, South America, and Africa approximately...well, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Canonically, our character was aboard the same ship as Captain Thorpe. We sailed to the island in search of the fabled Azoth (like we saw in the opening cinematic). As we all know, we sail into a storm that surrounds the island, where large black pillars erupt from the ocean. It fades to black, and we wake up on the shores of our destination. After being attacked by a strange humanoid, we find Captain Thorpe injured. He blames us for stealing an item, and then promptly vanishes into a strange red smoke.
We make our way through more humanoids and eventually crest a hill to see some of the island's beauty. We descend down a small side path, where we find Captain Thorpe, though this time he seems to be possessed by that same red energy. We fight him, and seemingly lose as he channels some kind of energy into us. Fade to black once more, and we awake on yet another shore.
We make contact with someone outside of our crew-- The Watchers. They explain that their job is to search for people like us (those that have washed ashore) and explain a basic overview of how the island works. We notice several other shipwrecks all around, and the game begins proper.
Alright, enough of the narration. Let's get down to exploration.
Azoth
Azoth is a resource native only to the isle of Aeternum. It appears blue, and its most common form is a liquid substance. It's a Mcguffin-- it can be used for anything from a form of currency to physically teleporting your

The Ubini people were part of a larger ethnic group called the Edo, and was originally a group of semi independent villages that eventually coalesced into a centralized military kingdom with refined iron working, impressive riches, and monumental architecture, that became a regional power as well as an important player in the Portuguese trade route. Although they didnβt had good mounted military units due the forestry terrain and diseases that limited animal husbandry, they did develop effective infantry armies comprised of swordsmen, spearmen, archers and crossbowmen, as well as attrition siege warfare, large defensive structures and sophisticated military logistics.
Infantry and defensive civilization
This bonus is meant to represent the rapid transition from a mostly decentralized group of people with small scale skirmishes, to a highly centralized military kingdom that the Ubini Kingdom experienced in the middle of the XV century.
In terms of gameplay, it makes infantry transitions very easy as you only have to pay food to upgrade up to Champions and Halberdiers (you still have to pay gold for the Blacksmith upgrades though). To put this in perspective, this allows you to save 115 gold in Feudal (MAA+Supplies), 205 in Castle (LS+Pike+Arson), and 1050 in Imperial (THS+Champion+Halb).
This opens many options, like being able to do a 5 MAA rush without having to gather any extra gold, going for a quick Halberdier transition for only 300 food in Imperial, or maybe a surprise Longsword opening in Castle Age.
This one is given as a representation of the ferocity of the Ubini warriors perceived by their neighbours and the focus they had on melee infantry in their armies.
At first, this bonus seems like an attempt to make Barracksβ units into βBerserk-wanna-beβsβ, but the way this one works is slightly different as you need to engage in melee combat to make use of it. In terms of effectiveness, this bonus basically makes the Militia line more tanky if they fight by increasing the amount of hits required to kill the unit by one or two hits; Vikings HP bonus in contrast, is passive, so this is a bit worse

Good day. Longtime lurker, first time poster. I felt compelled to write this essay after seeing many good Doomer memes on collapse-adjacent subs get immediately derailed by accusations that Doomers are the new deniers, always including a link to something from Michael Mann. It is even happening here. While I could not care less about anything that Michael Mann says, the media sure likes to give him a platform to attack anyone who dares question the wisdom of continuing Business as Usual and I am sick of it and the misinformation he spreads.
Why am I a Doomer? Because I have watched the climate crisis unfold over the last 20 years. In that time, we have done nothing but accelerate as fast as we could in the wrong direction. It was my goal for many years to be as informed as I possibly could be on the issue, since it is the most consequential thing to happen to our species. Even if it meant having to come to terms with my own mortality and the extinction of our species. Most other complex life too, but our society has overwhelmingly demonstrated that it doesnβt care about that. Eventually, it was no longer possible to pretend that we could even slow down, let alone reverse what our reckless ways had set into motion. It just isnβt physically possible anymore β the energy does not exist to remove the carbon from the atmosphere and the crisis is already rapidly accelerating. In the metaphor of a vehicle speeding towards a cliff, we are already airborne. In all the time we were speeding towards that cliff, we only ever devised new ways to push the gas pedal down harder. To suggest anything else was tantamount to heresy. I have found my peace with our situation and I just hope we are not successful in eradicating all life from this planet, because our governments are still hellbent on trying to do just that.
I wasnβt always a Doomer. 20 years ago, I was a naΓ―ve teenager who believed we would beat this no problem. We knew what the issue was and what we had to do, plus we would have fusion in 20 years and that would fix everything. Smart people were working on solutions. Turns out, I was being lied to by the media and the climate scientists even then. We had already blown past the original safe concentration of CO2, 350 ppm, in 1990. We had also passed the 10-year deadline for action given in 1989. Why should I believe any deadline given since? We had a decade t

This is a refined concept I did a while back, I think a Indian DLC would be great.
This build is based mainly on the Pala Empire & Bengal Sultanate before the Mughal Empire conquered them in mid 1500βs. They were know for their maritime spice trade and unique Asian Cultures.
BENGAL
Elephant & Monk Civ
β’Berries & Shore Fish contain 50% more food
Only applies to villagers gathering.
β’Farm upgrades give +1 carry to farmers
The highly productive lands in the area made for high food and spice production. The early berry bonus delays farms setting your Eco up with extra upgrades that carry you into the late game.
β’Elephants attack 25% faster
Effects all Elephant units including your UUβs. Elephants were a focal point to the Bengal armies. (P.S. I would love to give them Elephant Archer also)
β’Monks give near by units +10% speed boosts
Effects all Units within LOS of a monk (Excluded trade units)
β’Camels +1 attack & +1 range
They lack the Knight-line to keep with the Indian Civ theme. I thought of adding a steppe lancer but think a Camel Lancer offers abit extra spice.

Chapter 3
Standing awkwardly on the other side of the interior airlock, Specialist Rowan Taylor struggled to find any meaningful layout of the craft they found themself aboard. Several stressful moments stretched past them as they found every attempt to request information from the Holy Motherβs Directiveβs summarily denied. Finally throwing their hands up in frustration, Rowan muttered obscenities towards gods and men. Shouldering their duffel before scooping up a hardcase container, they ambled awkwardly down the sole passageway available to them.
Meandering slowly through the passageway, it occurred to Specialist Taylor that maybe the onboard VI, if it was in fact a VI, would be able to help. βUh, computer? I need to report to the commanding officer on duty. Any, uhm, assistance, would be highly appreciated.β
With a soft tone chiming directly overhead, a disembodied voice spoke. [Specialist Rowan Taylor, you are to report to Medical at your earliest convenience. Debrief will occur after you have been given a full physical and had your possessions stowed in your crew quarters. Do you require running lights to illuminate your way?]
βUh, yeah, thatβd be great. Thanks, magic voice lady.β Chuckling quietly like theyβd told the universeβs greatest joke, Specialist Taylor made their way confidently now down the passageway, following the soft glow of blue lights embedded in the deck plating.
00000
After softly knocking, Rowan sagged against the bulkhead opposite of the door labeled Medical. Several moments passed, before the door glided open, revealing a squat, half-meter creature garbed in a white smock, seemingly glaring up at Specialist Taylor under the thickest eyebrows this side of the galaxy.
βAh, but youβd be our newest arrival, hm? Canβt have you lollygagging in the passageway, now can we, hm? Come in, come in, letβs get your physical out of the way so we can get you checked into your crew quarters, hm?β
The fuzzy squirrel man, Rowan recalled, was a Rhithem. The only thing Specialist Taylor could recall was
