I might be a cereal killerβ¦
I hate Fruit Loops being a Mandela effect. I have been on this sub reddit a while now and read through all the Fruit Loops Threads and thought how stupid this was since it could be a simple corporate name change. About 1 month ago I looked up both Fruit Loops and Froot Loops on google and found both Boxes easily accessible as Images and as Products. I knew this was not a Mandela effect but a simple corporate spelling change. I even had a Fruit Loops box at home.
Fast forward to today and I am digging around looking for this evidence since people have claimed it is gone and believe it or not, I can't find any traces of Fruit Loops evidence.
Just Me?
I've seen many people in this sub claim that "Froot Loops" cereal has flip-flopped for them. People say that it used to be "Froot Loops", then it flipped to "Fruit Loops" and now back to "Froot Loops". Of course, in this timeline it has always been "Froot Loops".
I looked up some generic fruit loop cereals out of curiosity. Every single one of them uses the "fruit" spelling. This could easily explain the confusion.
Even Fruity Pebbles cereal uses the "fruit" spelling.
My brain is hurting now. One of the ME that I despised the most was that Froot Loops was never actually Froot Loops but was always Fruit Loops. This was frustrating because my wife and I went to the grocery store and thatβs all there was. Fruit Loops. And it looked wrong. So very wrong.
Recently I saw a post saying it changed back.. and when you google it now, all there is is Froot Loops images. And when we we went to Costco, it was Froot Loops on the box again. Iβm ok with it being Froot because thatβs what I knew it as as a kid..
The problem for me is that when I read the ME and googled everything at the time (for Fruit spelling) it was Fruit, and I never saw a single post talking about the logo reverting or anything of that nature. Now when I google it, all there is is Froot and NOW Iβm getting posts from 2012-2013-2016-2017-2018 about people saying itβs Froot again.
Idk what happened with this ME but itβs breaking my brain. My wife doesnβt care much about this stuff but even she doesnβt understand what the hell is going on with this one.
Wanted to share because my brain is about to explode.

Not sure if anyone remembers Remedy from Fields of Hemp in 2019 and earlier? It smelled exactly like fruit loops. Not just similar, it didn't just smell "sweet", or "like berries". It smelled exactly like fruit loops cereal.
Anyone come across flower with a similar nose?
So what's the deal here?
I've known about the Mandela Effect for a few years. Wrote it off as a fun quirk / mass memory based brain fog. Bit of fun to do as a quiz with friends and watch their jaws drop when they end up being wrong about something. (Never something I'd discuss seriously.)
For context, when I first read about it, a few examples surprised me. Monopoly Man, Pikachu's tail etc. I'm sure MANY people will admit that they remembered these things incorrectly, without needing to claim that it is an example of a ME.
Fruit Loops was on this list of surprises for me too. I remember the ME saying that ''Fruit Loops'' had never been ''Froot Loops''. And I remember being surprised that they had spelled it ''Fruit''. Again - nothing startled me. The fact that other people misremembered it too, actually reassured me that I was sane, and that we were all just collectively a bit dim.
But then recently, I was showing my partner a list of popular ME examples, and Fruit Loops popped up. Except this time it was the reverse, and not how I remembered it when I first encountered ME examples. Now it was suggesting that ''Froot Loops'' had never been ''Fruit Loops'' at all.
I'm a very logical person. I distinctively remember my thought process the first time. When I was told it had always actually been ''Fruit Loops'', my mind jumped to the idea that ''FROOT'' made much more sense from a branding perspective. I came to the conclusion that this was why I was misremembering it this way. I didn't care that I was wrong, I just had a reason for why I was wrong.
But that logic doesn't apply to ''Froot Loops'' anymore. The fact that it surprised me the first time, doesn't make sense to me anymore, because finding out that it is spelled 'Froot' just isn't surprising. The branding obviously wants as many literal HOOPS in it as possible.
So now I was confused, perhaps concerned. And the ME seemed less gimmicky, and more intriguing.
I googled it, and I realised many people were talking about this exact example, and how it had ''flip flopped''. (not a term I'd heard before).
I'm still skeptical - as I think people should be. Because this is how conversations can happen. (No point running around in a panic because the spelling of a cereal brand has changed.) But I guess my question is this -
Is there an explanation for this, from a likeminded skeptic, that actually makes sense to logical thinking people? Are we missing something ob
