A list of puns related to "Serena (name)"
As a great athlete to be remembered as a non iconic player though as a commercial ploy
Brendan: The best part is the amount of times your name is going to be brought up before youβre on the show.
Pieper: Thatβs what Serena was saying. She was like βYouβre literally going to get more screen time before to step foot on the sandβ
So even Serena knew Pieper was going to come? Everyone was in on this? How was Natasha completely left in the dark?
I prefer 4th\last one
If thereβs a reasonable explanation for this Iβll happily accept it, but it seems bizarre to me that a movie about two fucking stellar women has that name.
Is it Vander Woodsen or Van Der Woodsen? Iβve seen it written differently in closed captioning
and cause im bored
I'm at the episode when serena gets to see Nichole and Luke at the airport and I realize that when she and Luke talk about June serena never says her name. It's always only "your wife" I can't remeber if serena has ever called her June in the past. June has never been shy about calling serena by her name. Sometimes as if they are friends. But serena never returns the favor even when they were on neutral terms. Just shows how serena will always see her as a slave even when June helps her
Yeah i reposted it since i can't edit the old title
I know I promised this write-up ages ago, and now, with the release of King Richard, it seems like an appropriate time to finally post it! Unfortunately, I didnβt follow this story very closely when it was happening, so it took a little bit of time to get all caught up. Most of the stuff in here is coming from reading articles on what happened β so if Iβve missed out on anything, please feel free to add it in the comments. Hereβs the story of how Serena Williamsβ triumphant return to tennis ended up turning into an unmitigated dumpster fire.
Background
Serena Williams. You all know her, or have at least heard of her. Arguably the greatest female tennis player of all time, Serena has dominated tennis for the better part of her 25+ year long career. Sheβs broken barriers, set new records, become a fashion icon, and oh, sheβs married to that Reddit nerd. Williams is so popular and well known that her name is almost synonymous with tennis.
One of the metrics on which great tennis players are judged is Grand Slams, the most prestigious tournaments in tennis. There are four held every year β the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Serena has 23 Grand Slam titles, the highest in the Open Era, and the second-highest overall (it would be a little too complicated to explain what the βOpen Eraβ is, but you can read more about it here. Very briefly β prior to 1968, Grand Slams did not allow professional tennis players to compete, and as a result, player who went βproβ were excluded. This means that the level of competition at these Slams was a bit lower than it should have been, given that many of the best players, who had chosen to make money off their talent, were not allowed to compete. This changed in 1968, when Grand Slams decided to let pros compete in tournaments alongside amateurs β the period from then is known as the βOpen Eraβ).
The only person with more Grand Slam titles than Serena is Margaret Court, who has 24. Court is a controversial figure in tennis β although her peers, including Billie Jean King, consider
