(Score: A Film Music Documentary trailer) For a predominately visual medium like cinema, its musical component plays a vital role as well, especially its score. In that essential musical accompaniment, the soul of the film is expressed whether it be sweepingly majestic fanfares or delicate lyrical pieces. This documentary explores the artistic role of this special musical discipline that completes the cinematic artistic creation process and the artists who have devoted their careers to this contribution. We explore the form's history and examine the masters who defined it with their own distinctive artistic vision. In doing so, the various components of this delicate creative process are revealed as they create a musical compositional work that has inspired a popular appreciation of music in all its forms, which gave some old musical ways their own new lease on life.

(RBG trailer) At the age of 84, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has developed a breathtaking legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. But without a definitive Ginsburg biography, the unique personal journey of this diminutive, quiet warrior's rise to the nation's highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans - until now. RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring Ginsburg's exceptional life and career from Betsy West and Julie Cohen, and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films.

What are everyone's thoughts on Southbound from 2016? This one flew right over my head, I'd never heard of it before asking in this sub about a horror film I couldn't remember the name of and one of the suggestions was Southbound. Spoilers in the comment section if you plan on watching it.

I'm really happy that someone suggested this as the possible movie I was looking for, it wasn't.

But after I watched the trailer on Prime to make sure, I thought it looked good and rented it from Prime store.

I watched it last night and I really enjoyed it, I like the premise of some sort of supernatural apocalypse, rather than the over used zombie or viral disaster horror movies. Exactly what is going on and exactly what's happening to the characters isn't explicitly explained, but by the end things are clearer if not obvious. we are left to think for ourselves as to what's going on but there are clues in the background.

From listening to the local radio DJ who's broadcasting in the background, to some throwaway lines and dialogue that needs to be pieced together. From the start it seems like the supernatural is accepted as their reality, two men arrive at a motel rest stop covered in blood, the female clerk doesn't bat an eyelid other than telling them that the services are for customers only and making them spend some money.

The customers sitting in the diner ignore them altogether even when the building starts to shake, presumably signaling the arrival of the supernatural beings the two men are running from, the customers don't give any reaction, other than some subtle looks from the clerk at the till.

The clerk looks like she hasn't slept in a couple of days with dark marks under her eyes, and the furtive glances at one of the men who arrived covered in blood suggests she has an idea of what's coming for them, but she does not seem worried about her own safety she doesn't show any concern or panic.

The two men who are running try to outrun the entities that are chasing them and they drive along a straight highway but they come straight back to the same rest stop and motel even though they didn't make any turns.

They are obviously surprised and don't seem to understand what's happening, but the female clerk is outside smoking a cigarette when they come back to where they started.

Her hand is shaking slightly as she smokes which I thought was subtle and a nice touch which suggested an underlying fear on her part.

Soon after one of the men decides to stop running from the entities and after a short argument the other is quickly killed by one. But the other unnamed man is left alone.

He walks slowly back to the motel and three of the entities appear to be watching him and usher him into a motel room where some stuff that will make sense late

What did you think of the horror film "Lights Out" (2016) with Teresa Palmer? Any fans of this film?

One of my favorite horror films from 2016, really enjoyed it & thought the Diana character was really scary. Easily one of my favorite films with Teresa Palmer, loved her performance as well as Maria Bello's. I really liked the whole cast tbh, I thought the boyfriend character Bret was cool too. One of my favorite scenes was when >!Diana goes after the boyfriend & he uses the headlights to get her to let him go. I loved that he returned with the cops as well. I remember when it came out, some thought that he actually deserted them & were surprised that he went to get the cops. The whole ending sequence was really intense too, I was really worried for Palmer's character near the end, I thought Diana was gonna get her. Sad ending but I really enjoyed the film. I know some wanted a sequel but I'm not sure how it would work unless Diana had another friend like Bello's character.!<

Anyway, what did you think of the film? Favorite scenes? Did the film or the Diana character scare or creep you out?

[TOMT] [MOVIE] A horror / thriller film from around 2016-2018 that includes a scene with a guy in the shower on his boat - something to do with forgiving himself?

In the years 2016-2018 (though you could extend this to 2015-2019) I remember watching a film in theatres that was definitely of the horror genre - potentially thriller. I was young enough at the time to be sort of disturbed by its premise, and I recall it was an average but entertaining watch.

I’m pretty sure the whole conclusion of the story was that the male character had to forgive himself for something he had done in the past. I think something was haunting him because he hadn’t forgiven himself. It was something significant like the death of a loved one.

There was a horror scene where he was in the shower on his boat (he lived on the harbour) when something dramatic / horrific happened (unexpectedly for him of course).

I’ve become extremely irritated that I cannot find this film and an hoping someone can help me. Thank you!

Opinion: The 2016 Coen Brothers film, "Hail, Caesar!" would have worked much better as a television series.

The 2016 film "Hail, Caesar!" from the Coens is one of the more interesting films in their filmography. I am one of the few people that I am aware of that really enjoys the flick and think most of the criticisms that the film had aren't all that warranted. Most of the criticisms I remember seeing at the time dogged the film for want of a better explanation... being a Coen Brothers film (focus on the absurdity, lack of centralized plot, no real ending...etc). In addition the film was hindered by marketing of the film horribly miss-representing the overall premise of the film.

So, I am a defender of this film, however.... The overall premise "A day or two in the life of a (Golden Era) Hollywood fixer keeping a studio's dirty laundry out of the press" was great, but it does lean into one criticism of the film I agree with.... It's a story that is hindered by the medium, being a film.

Spoilers for the film follow

So in the film Josh Brolin's character puts out a series of fires on behalf of the studio he works on. Dealing with issues such as keeping the pregnancy of a Starlett from leaking as she's unmarried and.... arranging a marriage before she starts showing (As it's in the 50s). He quells a dispute between the director of a prestige picture and it's star who cant act (who had only been in Westerns prior). He ensures that the studio's upcoming epic film meets the muster of religious leaders of the ear to not offend anyone...etc. All the wile the biggest fish to fry being the kidnapping of the star of said film, (George Clooney/Hail, Caesar) by communist screenwriters.

However, given the film's run time all these fires he put out, all these sub-plots aren't given the full screen time or development they could have had. Part of which led to the poor marketing of the film, miss representing the George Clooney plot as the main plot of the film (as just opposed to being the biggest fire Josh Brolin deals with). In addition all of these additional issues Brolin deals with have characters played by pretty large names (Scarlett Johansson/Tilda Swinton/Ralph Fiennes/Channing Tatum..etc) that the film marketed being as a large ensemble cast.... that in reality were in the film for only a few minutes. It's Josh Brolin's vehicle.

All of these problems could have been solved by one thing.. taking that same exact premise, and making it an episodic comedy (or dramedy) TV series

You would more or less have a season p
