A list of puns related to "Samjin Company English Class"
Watching the trailer and being a comedy something I normally avoid my expectations for this movie were super low. I had the impression of the movie being about a group women working at a company and taking a TOIEC test, yeah how fun can that be right?
Well it was a pleasant surprise as it really didn't have much to do with taking the test but about 3 women ( with the lowest position at the same company) trying to reveal a cover up caused by their company.
It was a very light movie in the sense it doesn't take it self very serious especially the end but still the chemistry between the 3 women made it really fun to watch. Beside having the movie set in the 90s gave it the right vibe the movie needed.
So if you want to watch something not too serious and just be entertained, I really recommend this movie.
Sorry if this isn't the place to post this, but I've looked everywhere online and can't seem to find anything.
I've looked for it on gomovies and kissasian but can't find it. I'd be willing to pay money as well, but I can't even find a website where I can watch it paid.
Edit: with ENG subs, I found it on dramacool./so but no subs
I have been chosen to go to a company and give them a 2 hour email writing class. Anywhere from 20-40 adults will be there. All different levels. Some can have a very basic conversation, and some could probably get jobs in a English speaking country.
I'm not really sure how to go about this.
I was thinking I should find 2 different emails, informal and formal, break them a part into pieces. Have the students put them together, and then compare why they are different.
Then have them write their own email. This seems like it would only take about 1 hour.
I'm asking for suggestions on how I can engage everyone. Maybe how to go very slow. How can I break things down, so that everyone can learn at least something.
Has someone taught something similar? Could you please give me advice/guidance? I really want to do a good job with this opportunity.
This post reminded me of this story.
This happened between 8 and 11 years ago. A little background, I grew up on the Mexican/US border. Even though I was in Mexico, we got perfect TV reception from American channels, so I became fluent in English by age 8. I've lived in Minnesota for the entirety of my adult life, and friends in Texas mock me because I sound Minnesotan.
Fast forward to me being, either late 20s or early 30s working in a suburb of Minneapolis at an Apple Store as a lowly sales person.
The job there is to try to get folks to upgrade, buy a more expensive machine that they came in for, get accessories, and most importantly, buy AppleCare.
I did fairly well because I was upfront with my customers about pros and cons rather than just give them the scripted schpiel about how magical and life changing those those add-ons were. I had a lot of regulars that would only work with me for this reason, and they always ended up buying more shit in spite of my advice not to.
Fast forward to some summer and this kid from Wisconsin that's about to start college comes in with his middle aged tubby loudmouth dad and the concierge directs them to me. Dude is just completely rude, so I went into schpiel mode, fuck this guy.
I do all the scripted shit, he was having none of it and I didn't care, I wanna be done with him. We get to the AppleCare and the guys says, "can you guarantee that I won't be talking with some foreigner? You can't even understand them." At this point my petty little Mexisotan passive aggressive heart light up with joy at the opportunity.
>"Sir, we at Apple want you to feel happy with the services we offer as much as possible, unfortunately I can't guarantee that the tech support people will be American anymore than I can guarantee that an American will help you here at the store. I'm actually Mexican living as a permanent resident in the US. I apologize if you find my accent hard to understand. I will go in back and find an American to help you, but there are a lot of foreigners in this store so it might be a few minutes."
The schadenfreude at seeing this backwoods racist squirm and say "well, you know what I mean..." "I do Sir, I will get someone else for you." "No no, you're doing a great job"
I proceeded to have my way with his wallet by getting everything and anything that his son may need for college.
... keep reading on reddit β‘β¦.anyone out there like the idea of exposing the liars and cheats for the world to see?
We all know the joke that English teachers overanalyze books, grasping at straws and taking happenstance to be canon. But lets not lie, at least some of us would like someone going through our work with such an eye. Basically, what kind of subtle detail or easter egg have you put in your story that you wish people would notice more and extrapolate?
If you write smut, assume its like 18+ seniors only or a college-level course.
Many people in the fandom try to kill the discourse on whether HYBE should at the very least provide English translations for all BTS content, by saying it's an entitled demand by monolinguist English speakers or by equating criticism towards HYBE business practices with criticism towards BTS, or by 'reasoning' that since it was the fans choice to stan a Korean group, they have to adapt and learn BTS's language.
Most people asking for subs are multi-lingual non-native English speakers (including myself). And therefore people who are well aware of how it takes years of hard work to become fluent in another language. Asking people to learn the language of someone else, just to understand what they are saying, is a ludicrous demand. If these standards were applied consistently, we would have to learn a new language for every person we want to communicate with and/or understand, but whose first language differs from ours. In a globalized world, this is an impossible standard.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the reason that English has become the lingua franca, which includes the after-effects of the massive expansion of the British empire and American (cultural) imperialism. But fact is that English has become the closest we have to a global language today. And we need a global language, to communicate and understand people all over the world, without having to learn 6500 languages, because that is how many languages are spoken today.
Asking a company to provide better service should never be considered 'being entitled'. On the other hand, thinking another person owes you something and you can therefore tell them how they should act and speak, is being entitled. This includes telling BTS to speak English or expecting fans to learn a whole new language, just because a billion-dollar company doesn't want to provide translations to the fans who tirelessly worked for free towards the success of their favorite band, of which that company profited billions.
I'm a Norwich fan btw. Good luck for next season! I think Kalvin is a 90+ mil player now.
Collectively, as a class, we went with βNachosβ , after a vote.
All of our cheesy little, hardback, spiral bound, short stories said copyright βNachos Publishing Companyβ on the back.
Iβm 36, and I still think about this a few times a year and laugh about how random and dumb it was. Our teacher was like, βReally?.... Um, alright.β
7th graders are strange.
So I was in high school and I believe I was either a junior or a senior at the time. Our teacher told us that everyday we had to bring a book to read for the first 15 minutes of class to get our brains flowing for the rest of class. Normally I would bring books like Song Of Ice & Fire, Throne Of Glass, Harry Potter, really any fiction or fantasy book and I was the heavy reader in the class. Sometimes people would even ask me tips on how they could read more since I was finishing a new book pretty much every half a week, so I would finish 2 books every week.
One day I brought The Bible into class. The reason I was reading it at all is because I like to re-read it every couple years and analyze and annotate it to make sure I havenβt missed anything problematic, sexist, racist, really anything modern people today with more then half a brain cell would condemn. So I pulled it out at the beginning of class and immediately my table was confused.
The person across from me (my best friend at the time and he was also atheist) said out loud βdude is that the Bible?β I said yes and began to read. However at that moment the entire class looks at me and begins to ask questions. Those questions include βwhat religion are you?β βWhatβs your favorite passage?β βWhat church do you go to?β And much more. And to their surprise I answered. βActually Iβm an atheist.β βI donβt have a favorite passage the majority of it is morally wrong.β βI donβt go to church.β
After that about 80% of the class turned on me. Calling me a non-believer, swearing at me, saying Iβm a sinner and I should rot in hell, telling me that because Jesus loves me I should accept him in my heart because if I donβt then Iβm a sinner, you know all the fun stuff theists say. So I pull out my note pad and proceed to read every line of the Bible that condones rape, murder, bigotry, you know the fun stuff. And since the majority of the people who were yelling at me were women I decided to read the misogynistic parts last to pretty much tell them that their religion tells them that because they are a woman they canβt speak to me in such a manner or else they will burn in hell.
It was a fun day. I actually ended up converting a few of them to our side that day just by reading to them the Bible. Oh and get this, everyone who was yelling at me literally admitted to never reading the Bible.
I will be graded on this, and I am worried about a few things, as you can probably tell. I'm also probably screwed if my classmates don't get into it. I need ideas and suggestions on how I can run this (I have been dming for one year). Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: She said it should still be one hour but it can spill into two if need be
Edit 2: Iβll state for the record that I might be using an idea from the comments of a group that was hired by the Capulets to find out why Juliet keeps disappearing at night. Their trail will lead them to the Montegues, fight scene ensues, and carrying a tied up Juliet back to the Capulets. Crisis averted. I will be using this.
More ideas are still welcome, for me or anyone else who can be helped by this post. If I see anything better I will change my mind.
Edit 3: After reviewing some suggestions, I may end up not having stat sheets at all and just having d20s, or having just the main stats, and running a narrative driven session.
Hello, As title says, anyone knows some english speaking companies that dont mind hiring new grads fluent only in english and little to no knowledge of german/dutch. I heard some startups/international groups in Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt use 100% english in their professional communications and have no language requirment. From your past experiences or from your network, id highly appreciate to list me some.
Edit: -Yes, research has been done i just want to make sure i didnt miss anything
