A list of puns related to "Runoff voting"
The three finalists are:
Samantha from the TV series Bewitched no longer twinkling her nose but moving her mouth side to side to cast spells
Britney Spears missing headset microphone from her βOops I did it again videoβ
John Madden dying before December 2021
The way this works this year will be a little different, we are going to try a ranked voting system so that you vote in the order you like and can also use your vote as a βwrite inβ for another option.
For example you could vote:
Bewitched, Madden, Britney or you could go with Black hat on Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, Madden, Bewitched
Just enter your votes here and please donβt lobby your case - this post is simply for the voting.
[Redondo Beach's voting method may change after 2023 | Daily Breeze]
This city council in LA county has voted to implement either ranked-choice voting or score-then-automatic runoff voting, and will propose the choice to voters as a ballot measure. Potentially a sign of emerging support for STAR, gaining momentum alongside RCV.
I respect their process of taking the steps to enact voting reform while leaving the ultimate choice of voting method to the voters. These kinds of ballot measures could promote support for the movement, as people feel they have a choice in the direction their elections systems go. While it could take more time, it seems absolutely worth it to allow the American people to choose how they want to vote.
Approval voting is included in the poll as well since that comes up frequently, which is a method that allows you to vote for as many candidates as you want, and each candidates' totals are counted to elect the winner.
What do you think of the debate between RCV and STAR, and do you support this approach of giving voters the choice between multiple voting methods?
If you live in District 9, please head to the polls. Renee Grout is a Trump supporter and MUST be defeated. Rob Grilley has a solid plan to address homelessness, crime, and to accelerate business. He went to UNM and cares deeply about this city. If you voted for Byron Powdrell in the primary election, he has endorsed Rob Grilley for this runoff.
Please don't let this go. Please let's all show up for this. We have an opportunity to take Don Harris' seat and to keep this crazy Trump supporting friend of Steve Pierce's OUT. Here are the voting places:

If you donβt know what it is, it has been re-branded in recent years to the more ambiguous name of βranked choice voting.β There are many ranking systems and it is pretty dumb to give one particular ranked voting system the title of βranked choice voting.β
Anyway, from what Iβve seen from you, you seem to support it at least for single winner elections. Please reconsider. It is one of the worst of alternative voting systems. Under IRV putting your favorite first can help your least favorite win because of the order of elimination. If your favorite has high base support and low broad support, there is a high chance that he will make it to the final round, but will have no chance of winning against the guy you hate. In the process though, supporting him helps eliminate other good candidates that actually do have a chance at winning the final round.
You can see a good short video that explains the problem a bit.
You can also see simulations about the weirdness of IRV and how it compares to other voting systems here. The simulations make unrealistic assumptions such as all voters being perfectly honest and knowledgeable about the candidates, but it does show the fundamental behavior of the voting systems.
Have you ever took a deep dive into voting systems? If you are interested, Iβm sure someone from the Center of Election Science would be glad to talk to you.
