A list of puns related to "Rookie Vets"
I am certain that I am not an top ranked RetroBowl player. Iβve seen some of the records posted here & theyβre impressive. But I have learned a few things & do pretty well. I figured that Iβd start a βRead a Tip, Post a Tipβ thread. If you read a tip & have one yourself β¦ post it! Iβm just curious to read what other more experienced players have learned.
My set up is Extreme, 1 min Q, 10 players, $150 M payroll, and no outside purchasing of coaching credits β¦ they have to be earned. (I used to do 2 min but got impatient. lol)
My one tip to start: Iβve come to appreciate how important it is to hit your pass catchers in stride. Turnovers & dropped passes are more likely if not the case. If you can master this with your WRs in stride, even when they have double/triple coverage, you can make 25 -45 yd chunk plays with relative ease provided theyβre running the right routes. The con of this strategy is that if youβre off by even a smidge, youβll get intercepted & pick 6s are more likely (especially in Extreme).
What say you fellow RetroBowlers?
You canβt hide behind the βbig teams canβt rely on rookiesβ excuse when the Bulls are the number 1 team in the East and are absolutely thriving with him playing.
If you switched him with DDJ or Kessler Edwards, theyβd be in the exact same position, while fans would be justifying Ayo rotting on the bench getting no minutes for guys who have consistently failed to deliver.
Of all the big teams, we have the worst coach by far and itβs going to hurt us unless Kyrie comes back.
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone could actually speak to the true differences in earnings between "vet" companies in BC and rookie mills like Summit, Brinkman etc. For reference, I worked for Summit last year and honestly had a really great experience. Made 20K+ as a highballer rookie, averaging around 400$ a day (including the first month or so learning curve). I appreciated their transparency of posting their season's average earnings on their website when signing up. Just wondering if anyone from the upper tier vet companies could speak to how much more they made by switching companies and where they consider themselves in terms of production among the camp.
Also why does Summit get shit on so much in this subreddit?
Cheers!
The two ideas that came to mind were:
Do a random sort to determine draft order. However, given the uncertainty of 1st round picks that fall outside the top-10, this might not be fair. So, if we do a random sort, maybe we could do a 2nd round reversal for the rookie draft?
After the Vet draft, we may be able to grab the max points that each team would have scored with that team in the 2021 season. If we can do so, then we would arrange the draft from least Max Points to most.
Any other ideas you have seen work?
So many, but for me Tara! I actually cried and I've never been that emotional with cuts cause its like someone has to go, but I remember them cutting her and I was like she is so funny. I thought she would have been a 5th year. Also, her cut didn't make sense to me.
Even when his vets are playing badly, or tired from all of the OT games .......he is rolling with vets.
I also don't like Ime's rotations:
Only start one of Horford or Rob and then keep one or the other on the floor at once. When they are both on the floor -- one or the other is getting points, rebounds or assists, mostly Horford.........they are "stepping on each other" .....
Smart had zero as in NO assists in 33 minutes - Schroder had 5 assists in 21 minutes -
Schroder provides more speed and pace, getting to the rim, and fire than Smart. Schroder should start and Smart come off the bench as 6th man. Or play Schroder and Smart (My second choice) . But not Smart in stead of Schroder!
During "real" parts of the game, Grant and Romeo were minus 2 and minus 3. Only Brown and Rob were better plus minus, when minutes mattered. Grant and Romeo \ should have been played more not benched. When they were in we played well - they both play the right way - moving the ball....not ISO!
PP and Nesmith were never even given a chance to turn things around
If all you are doing is playing vets and we are losing or momentum is going against us, try something else.
Can Ime make decisions on the fly or change direction if something is not working?
I want Ime to have faith in the young guys also!
When the wheel's fell off today - outscored 39 to 11 in Q4 - Ime mostly played Horford, Tatum, Brown, Richardson and Smart.
Never tried a different combination to "shake things up" ......
1st challenge - "freshman"
2nd challenge - "sophomore"
3rd challenge - "junior"
4th challenge - "senior"
after that - "veteran"
Amber won on her Freshman season
Fessy got DQ'd on his junior season
etc.
You have to make the best starting 5 but you can only select players from a given tenure in the league.
You must choose a player as a rookie, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th year vets.
Iβm thinking rookie would be Tim Duncan.
2nd year Luka Doncic
3rd year Wilt Chamberlin
4th year Lebron
5th year MJ
Starting 5 using rookie to 5th year vet
PG: Luka
SG: MJ
SF: Lebron
PF: Duncan
C: Wilt
Doing a start up league with 12 people. Weβre currently debating whether or not to do the start up with a vets only draft and then a rookie draft. Half the people in the league have done dynasty before, the other half havenβt. The thinking is that by doing a rookie draft before the season it gives the new dynast players some experience and knowledge on valuing draft picks out the gate. It can be kind of abstract putting a value on picks when you havenβt drafted. Has anyone done this before? Or is it wiser to just do the start up all together? Advice would be greatly appreciated!
I hope this is allowed. I saw this video about 6 months ago and cannot find it. Its 2 women and one is teaching the other wrestling moves. The new girl puts the seasoned wrestler in the holds and just dominates her. She wont let go and knocks her out a few times. If you know this video PLEASE let me know!
last night i heard two different perspectives on these two types of players
-veterans have relationships that theyβve built over years if not decades.
-rookies have no relationships with no bad blood with most of the cast
Hearing Steven Adams being only 27 and Andre Drummond being 27, while Kuzma being 25 got me thinking - what other times did you go, "wait, that's their ages?"
