A list of puns related to "Roger Wilco"
The artist who penned issue 2 and 3 of the Roger Wilco comic book is selling some of the original art work used for the comic. I got one (should be arriving today) but there are a few others right now on ebay. If any collectors are seeing this, its a really cool piece!
I see that "Janitor, Sanitation Class" aptitude option...
I have played through Space Quest 4 (my favorite in the series) many times over the years. My father got the game when it was new and it quickly became my favorite PC game to play. I still get enjoyment playing through the game now as an adult.
I was recently taking a flight lesson when I heard someone respond to air traffic control with "Roger Wilco" and I was absolutely confused/surprised/elated. I immediately asked my instructor what this meant and explained to him about SQ4.
Essential it means "I understand, I will comply." Which isn't all that hard to imagine, but I absolutely couldn't believe how this unlocked a deeper meaning to the name of a charachter that I sort of grew up with. I thought this might be an interesting bit of info that was lost on other lovers of the SQ series.
"Remember, your voice is a tool. Speaking calmly and clearly indicates you are calm and in control in the cockpit, whereas quick, frenzied or excessively loud communications are more difficult to understand and may indicate urgency, or even panic." -- NavCanada Phraseology Guide
In real life I'm a private pilot, I fly light aircraft such as Cessnas at the weekend. In game I'm part of Adle's Armada, an Eravate and newb space defence force. I'm not the world's best combat pilot but I've always been complimented on my radio skills -- here are some tips for new and seasoned pilots alike.
Keep voice channels clear while in combat. This may mean switching to a dedicated channel for your wing if your group lobby is being used to socialize. It also means keeping any voice comms short and punchy. In radio when you're transmitting no-one else can talk, so you must keep your messages short. In Discord and other chat systems people can talk at the same time, but it's confusing and you shouldn't rely on it. My pet peeve: Never say "Roger that" or "Copy that" when "Roger" or "Copy" will do fine. Do not spew useless swearing into voice chat, such as "OMG I'm frakking under attack!" This serves no purpose other than to clog up voice comms and stress out your wingmates.
Always include your name in a transmission. This is the number one way you can tell a seasoned pilot from a scrub. If someone says "I'm under attack" or "My shields are down" there is absolutely no way (short of an overlay) to tell who said that. Always refer to yourself in the third person. "Alonzo is under heavy fire" or "Alonzo is high waking" is much more useful to everyone else.
Stay calm. Elite's combat is a lot of fun and can get hectic. It's natural to let some stress creep into your voice, but try to remain calm, keep your messages short, be clear about what's happening.

Learning to fly planes as well as learning this new version of the English language...
I love watching war movies and play a lot of military-based FPSs. When I watch movies or play those types of games the characters throw out military jargon (for lack of better words) like "Oscar Mike", "Contact!", "Tango Down", etc.
I like to believe that I am intuitive enough to figure out what most of they are saying. From my days playing OG Rainbow Six, I know that "Tango" means Target and "Contact" means someone spotted a target and are about to engage them.
There are other sayings that I have no clue about, but pecking around Google for each saying has become tedious as there is no site (that I can find) that has it all.
Other than enlisting in the Marine Corp. or the military in general (pun intended), where can I go to find them all.
I am mostly interested in communication type lingo.

I have yet to see this mentioned anywhere. But I wonder if the creators took inspiration from the old Space Quest games? Gary not only looks alot like Roger Wilco, but he acts like him a lot as well. I have not played the game for 25 years or so though, so maybe I am incorrect about the behavior. I just seem to remember him as equally wacky.
