1989: Reaction Engines Limited formed by Alan Bond, to continue research after HOTOL was defunded
1993: Public release of SKYLON spaceplane concept
2000: Application for up to £12bn of funding from UK Government for projected flight testing by 2020 turned down
2009: ESA announces exploratory funding up to 2011.
2013: George Osborne opts to continue funding SKYLONm secures funding of £60m from the ESA, £50m paid
2015: BAE joins the project and gets a 20% stake in return for £20.6m funding
2016: ESA involvement over with final payment of £10m
25 September 2017: U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) had awarded a contract to Reaction Engines for an undisclosed amount to conduct high-temperature airflow testing at a Colorado, United States site of a Reaction Engines precooler called HTX.
April 2018: Reaction Engines announced Boeing and Rolls-Royce would joining BAE Systems as investors in SABRE engine development. A total of $37.5 million of new funding provided, including contributions from Baillie Gifford Asset Management and Woodford Investment Management.
SABRE, and SKYLON with it, have continued under this funding bridge to develop the engine, and now have working engines to show thrust-to-weight ratio of SABRE is fourteen compared to about five for conventional jet engines, and two for scramjets. This groundbreaking research will now be funded to the tune of $10bn in a second stage:

Project SKYLON aims to have an in-flight vehicle ready by 2025, to allow ground take off, and low-orbit operational transit, and landing.
My school consists of 6 trades. Power Plant Technology, Carpentry, Masonry, Horticulture, Paint & Coatings Technology, and Machining. Each shop consists of typically 18 students. There are 3 grades.
Every student is admitted tuition free. Acceptance is based off of factors such as income, life story, and ASVAB scores.
The school resembles a military academy. Every morning students are expected to lineup at 6:45 in suit and tie attire. Clean shaven, shoes shined, etc. Additionally, their rooms, which they live in during the school year, are expected to be cleaned up each morning.
For those who fail to follow the rules, hours are given. Hours are real-time hours that are expected to be worked off. If you miss lineup in the morning, you will be here on saturday working manual labor for 4 hours.
The school maintains a strict no alcohol or drugs policy, and uses regular drug tests. Failing a test is immediate dismissal.
My shop, power plant techology, operates a small powerplant on campus. We operate 2 boilers, a steam turbine, 2 diesel generators, a solar array, a natural gas generator, and the systems associated with operating these.
Our time at school is split between shop, where we operate and maintain the plant, and academics, where we learn the education behind our trade.
I’ve had well-paying internships at a Nuclear Power Plant and a Combined Cycle Power Plant.
